Proposed Muslim cemetery creates tension

Oh little town of Dudley, Mass how still we see thee lie. But the battle over a Muslim cemetery in that small Massachusetts town grows as the state attorney general and U.S. attorney's office have stepped in, warning local officials they could be in violation of civil-rights laws.

Dudley only has a population of 11,000 people and is located on the Connecticut border. They are going up against the Islamic Society of Greater Worcester, who want to build a Muslim cemetery on former farmland there.

Dudley officials, known as "Duds", have cited concerns about the breadth of the project and worry about potential traffic issues and environmental impact, in questioning the appropriateness of the cemetery.

But who are they kidding?

The Islamic Society is correct. "This is 100% fear and bias," Jason Talerman, a lawyer for the Islamic Society said.

It isn't as if Islam has any dangerous connotations to its ideology, unless you consider all of its ideology as it relates to jihad, Jews, Christians, atheists, gays, lesbians, transgenders, Hindus, Zoroastrians, apostacy . . . I could really go on, but I'll spare you the pain.

I'm not sure if it's really fear the people of Dudley are feeling. I believe that like the reason Trump was elected, people are fed up of having to accomodate the 'religion of special needs.'

Gary Brackett, a lawyer for Dudley, denied the town is biased against Muslims. "The same concerns would have been raised whether it was a Catholic, or Jewish, or Protestant cemetery," he said.

He may be telling the truth, but I submit, there are other concerns people have concerning Islamic practices.
