Kaepernick unintentionally taking a knee |
The season is officially underway and the viewership ratings are in and are showing a marked decline. Evidently, Americans are less inclined to watch a bunch of millionaires go down on their knees when the national anthem is played. Protesting a false narrative about black people being shot by cops due to racism is factually false, but facts don't matter when you're trying to be relevant.
The Eagles-Falcons game had seriously lower ratings than last year's first game. NBC's broadcast had a 13.4 household rating compared to 14.6 last year--an 8 percent drop. And last year's plummeted 9 percent from 2016, reminding us of the late, great Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'" hit song.
One factor that may have also contributed to the lack of viewership was that the game had to be pushed back 45 minutes due to severe weather in Philadelphia. Many people want to believe that this is the real reason for the decreased interest.
However, the Nothing But Communism network (NBC) claims the game had the best ratings for a sporting event since the 2017 Winter Olympics and the Power Saw Ice Carving Capades in Shaboygan.
