Imagine Dragons to honor suicide victim at Billboard Awards

Chris Cornell evidently committed suicide by hanging himself early Thursday after he performed at a concert the previous night in Detroit.

The singer's family say that only toxicology results will tell us the real cause of his death.

Imagine Dragons, another grunge group, will pay tribute to Cornell, not in song, but in actual words at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.

Some of the song titles for Imagine Dragons include: Radioactive; Sucker for Pain; Demons; Bleeding Out; and, I Bet My Life.

Harsh.

A spokeswoman for the show's producers, Dick Clark Productions, told the AP on Friday that Imagine Dragons will tell the tale of how Cornell, the Soundgarden and Audioslave singer influenced them before they got on stage at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

This will not be the first time in which something that happened in Vegas did not stay in Vegas.

Cornell was a grunge movement guru with Seattle-based Soundgarden, a group that brought him critical and more importantly, commercial acclaim.

He was really quite talented but, unfortunately, he was seriously depressed and, like many artists who simply couldn't cope, ended his life.

The unfortunate part is how celebrities whose lives end in suicide are somehow made to seem like heroes. Hopefully, Cornell's suicide will not be a catalyst for other young people who looked up to him.
