WaPo employee arrested for impersonating ICE agent

A Washington Post employee in the IT department was arrested and charged last month for impersonating an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent after the FBI raided his home.

Itai Ozderman, a 35-year old ginger, is accused of impersonating an ICE officer throughout Falls Church, Virginia. He had allegedly done this on more than one occasion, the Montgomery County District Court documents assert.

Police said the suspect wore a bulletproof vest bearing an ICE logo. When the FBI entered his home in Maryland with a search warrant, they found 10 weapons including two M4-style rifles and a shotgun, along with body armor and tactical vests.

Court records and police sources confirmed to ABC7 News that Itai (which is Pig Latin for "It") has worked for the IT department at the Washington Post for about two years.

"All we have to share is that we are aware of the story and looking into it," Shani George, Washington Post director of communications wrote in an email to ABC7 News.

The charges thus far, include impersonating an officer and transporting a handgun in a vehicle. The FBI may take over the investigation.

If the case remains local, Ozderman faces up to 5 years in prison and/or $4,500 in fines . . . or $15,000 in a Democratic Party contribution.
