The Constitution Is Not a Doormat

The First Amendment to the US Constitution says:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

When Obamacare mandates that religious institutions must provide free contraception and birth control for their clients, it was as if Obama stepped on the Constitution and cleaned his shoes on it.

According to this magnificent document, the government cannot establish a main religion for the country--it can never be like "The Islamic Republic of Iran," for example, a theocracy whereby the religious leaders have the governing power as we see with Sharia-led countries.  But the Constitution also cannot prohibit or change the exercise of free speech, the press, and the religion.  You cannot make a Christian organization like the Catholic Church, do something that goes against their conscience, nor have them support this act. You don't need to be a Catholic or Christian to understand and respect this idea, but to think that this is about the Catholic Church and women's rights is an Obamalie (rhymes with anomaly), and simply not true.  His walking back on the original presentation is a "smoke and mirrors" attempt but turns out to be an accounting trick.

Obama's next trick is the budget.  Wait and watch.

If you are interested in terrorism and suspense, I have provided 2 links (below) for a hard copy (soft cover) edition and an eBook edition of my latest novel, Jihad Joe.  It's a story about Zed Nill, a New York based reporter, taken hostage by Islamic terrorists.  He must escape, or be beheaded the following day . . . the clock is ticking.
