Chicago area store owner given 4-year sentence in WIC fraud sceme

A federal judge just slammed the door on yet another welfare fraud scheme that preyed on the very people the program was meant to help.

Hassan Abdellatif, the owner of several Chicago-area convenience stores, has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for his role in ripping off the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program. This federally funded initiative is supposed to deliver nutritious food to low-income kids, pregnant women, breastfeeding moms, and those in the post-partum phase. Instead, Abdellatif and his crew turned it into a cash cow.

From 2010 to 2018, Abdellatif allegedly teamed up with eight other convenience store owners or workers across the Chicago area to fraudulently redeem WIC checks. They knowingly let customers use those checks to buy ineligible items, often jacking up the prices in the process. In total, the ten stores wrapped up in this racket redeemed more than $19 million in WIC benefits.

A federal jury convicted the 37-year-old Chicago resident on all five counts last year: two counts of wire fraud, one count of fraudulently obtaining government benefits, and two counts of willfully failing to file corporate tax returns. 

On Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Jorge L. Alonso handed down the four-year prison term and ordered Abdellatif to cough up more than $8.8 million in restitution to the government.

As Assistant U.S. Attorney Raman laid out in the government's sentencing memorandum, "Hassan Abdellatif and his co-schemers engaged in conduct that was extremely serious, complex, and wide-ranging in scope." Raman added, "Vulnerable communities are impacted when individuals steal from those programs."

This is the kind of brazen abuse that hits hardest at the people who can least afford it. Programs like WIC exist to support families in need, not to line the pockets of schemers who game the system for years. Four years behind bars and millions in restitution might be a start toward justice, but it won't undo the damage done to those vulnerable communities.

Illinois justice system leaks like a sieve

Here's your daily dose of "sanctuary city" insanity, brought to you by the People's Republic of Illinois. 

While the rest of the country is trying to get dangerous illegal aliens off the streets, Governor Jabba the Hutt (D-IL) and Chicago's own Brandon "Let's Defund Everything But Illegal Aliens" Johnson have apparently decided that child rapists and murderers deserve a second, or third, or fourth chance to roam free. ICE just dropped a letter that ought to make every law-abiding Illinois resident's blood boil. 

Since January 2025, the Land of Lincoln has released a jaw-dropping 1,768 criminal illegal aliens who had active ICE detainers. You know, the little piece of paper that says, "Hey, local jail, hold this guy so we can deport him." But no, Illinois said "catch and release" is their new state fish., and these aren't jaywalkers or litterbugs. We're talking:

Attempted murder
Aggravated sexual assault
Aggravated kidnapping
Predatory criminal sexual assault of a child (yes, you read that right)
Child abduction
Multiple homicides

Todd Lyons, the acting ICE director, was blunt about the problem: "These offenders should be swiftly removed from the United States … and not be returned to our streets to wreak havoc on law-abiding citizens."

Instead, Illinois Democrats are basically rolling out the red carpet: "Welcome back to the neighborhood, here's your get-out-of-jail-free card!" It's suicidal for everyone except those who run this s**t show. 

There are still another 4,015 criminal aliens sitting in state and local custody with pending detainers, including 51 tied to homicides and over 800 sexual-predatory offenses, who could be sprung any day thanks to Governor "Pass the Gravy" Pritzker and Johnson's open contempt for federal law.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem showed up in Illinois on August 8 and torched the dynamic duo to their faces. Good for her. Someone had to say it out loud, but what effect it will have is probably nil. 

Lyons closed his letter with the question every taxpayer in Illinois deserves an answer to: Is the state going to "change course or continue releasing violent offenders who may otherwise walk the streets of Illinois again?"

It's time the Illinois government stop treating ICE detainers like they're suggestions on a Chinese takeout menu and instead put public safety ahead of their woke virtue-signaling. But don't hold your breath hoping Pritzker is suddenly going to grow a spine underneath all that adipose tissue. The bulbous billionaire heir and his light-on-crime mayor would rather let another child get assaulted than admit Trump-era immigration enforcement had a point because it's actually working in places other than Illinois.

Illinois taxpayers, enjoy the "sanctuary" you voted for. The rest of us will be over here praying we don't end up on the wrong side of one of these monsters the state just set loose.

BREAKING: Gunman fires at federal agents during Chicago immigration enforcement: manhunt underway

Picture this: A routine immigration sweep in Chicago's Little Village, a neighborhood that's basically a slice of Mexico plunked down in Chicago, turns into a scene straight out of a bad action flick. But instead of heroes, you've got federal agents dodging bullets from some cowardly thug in a black Jeep, followed by a howling mob lobbing paint cans and bricks at law enforcement. 

Authorities are searching for a man who allegedly shot at U.S. Border Patrol agents Saturday during immigration operations in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. Border patrol agents were conducting immigration enforcement operations when a man driving a black Jeep fired shots at agents and fled the scene, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).And if that wasn't enough to make you question sanctuary city logic, the aftermath? A group of people threw a paint can and bricks at border patrol vehicles, DHS said. Local affiliate FOX 32 Chicago reported a flash bang was deployed, as crowds surrounded federal agents for multiple blocks. At least one person was detained, according to the outlet.

Enter the virtue-signaling cavalry: City Alderman Michael Rodriguez, of the 22nd Ward, posted a video to Facebook accusing the agents of "causing all sorts of mayhem." "They’re doing things that are unconstitutional, that are illegal," Rodriguez said of the agents doing their jobs and what America voted for. "They are causing fear and mayhem in our communities and that's unacceptable."

Oh, the irony. The guy's out there whining about "fear and mayhem" while his constituents are turning federal vehicles into piñatas, and more bullets fly there than Gaza.

And he wasn't alone in the social media circus. Alderman Byron Sigcho-Lopez, of the 25th Ward, was also live-streaming the chaos on social media. Sigcho-Lopez appeared to confront immigration agents, stupidly questioning them about why they were in the neighborhood, which is known as a largely Mexican-American community.

The Chicago Police Department (CPD) was called for assistance and cleared the scene. 

The shooter and vehicle remain at large, DHS officials said. "This incident is not isolated and reflects a growing and dangerous trend of violence and obstruction," DHS wrote in a statement on X. "Over the past two months, we’ve seen an increase in assaults and obstruction targeting federal law enforcement during operations."

Chief Border Patrol agent Gregory Bovino fired back at an X user who said Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents "illegally fired tear gas into the street," saying there is "more to come." "Funny, you keep leaving out key facts including several shots fired at agents by a suspect, violent mobs throwing bricks and assaultive subjects," Bovino wrote in a post. "We still managed to apprehend illegal aliens today in Little Village. More to come."

"These confrontations highlight the dangers our agents face daily and the escalating aggression toward law enforcement. The violence must end."

Look, if Chicago's elected clowns like Rodriguez and Sigcho-Lopez spent half as much energy condemning the actual criminals, starting with the guy who turned a Jeep into a drive-by getaway car, instead of shielding sanctuary chaos, maybe we'd have fewer headlines like this. But no, it's easier to blame the badges enforcing the law than the mobs breaking it. 

Wake up, Illinois: This isn't "mayhem" from feds; it's the predictable fallout from years of the open-borders delusion. And as Bovino says, more to come, whether the local Dems and big Gov, Pritzker like it or not.

Chicago Principal Plays Victim Card for Teacher Who 'Bang-Bang Mocked' Charlie Kirk's Murder

Oh, the irony is thicker than a leftist's skull: A public school principal in the crime ridden Windy City is bending over backward to shield a large teacher who turned a protest into a grotesque pantomime of conservative firebrand Charlie Kirk's assassination like, literally finger-gunning her own neck while hollering "bang, bang." 

But sure, let's frame her as the poor, persecuted soul amid the "threats." 

Enter Lucy Martinez, the woke Nathan Hale Elementary School educator who's now starring in her own episode of Leftist Teacher Gone Wild. 

Captured on video over the weekend at a "No Kings" rally, because apparently protesting monarchy is code for reenacting bullet-through-the-throat fantasies, Martinez decided to channel her inner sociopath. The clip, exploding across social media with tens of millions of views, shows her mimicking the exact wound that took Kirk's life last month: finger to the jugular, imaginary trigger pull, and those oh-so-charming sound effects. Subtle as a sledgehammer to the funny bone, if your idea of funny is desecrating a fresh grave of a descent human being.

And what does Principal Dawn Iles-Gomez do when the backlash hits like a Twitter storm? She fires off a letter to parents that reads like a masterclass in bullcrap bureaucratic deflection. No mea culpas for the teacher, no hints of consequences, just a vague nod to shadowy online bogeymen supposedly gunning for Martinez. 

Because in the upside-down world of Chicago Public Schools, the real crime isn't mocking a murdered man's final moments; it's the peasants daring to notice.

"Dear Hale Parents and Staff, safety continues to be my top priority, which is why I am writing to notify you of a situation involving our school," the letter states. "We were recently made aware of social media posts with language that resembles a potential threat to a staff member. We take all potential threats extremely seriously to ensure the safety of our school community."

"The Chicago Police Department and the CPS Office of Safety and Security have been notified, and CPD is currently investigating this situation further," the letter continued.

Translation: "Move along, folks--nothing to see here except maybe some mean tweets that totally justify ignoring the elephant in the room (or the finger-gun at the protest)." 

Calls for Martinez's firing are mounting faster than the views on that video, and rightly so. But in a system where principals polish turds into trophies, don't hold your breath for actual accountability. After all, if you're teaching kids at an elementary school named after a guy who famously regretted getting hanged, you'd think irony would be the last lesson skipped. Yet here we are.

ARMED DOMESTIC TERRORIST ARRESTED AFTER RAMMING BRAVE FEDERAL AGENTS IN CHICAGO – TIME TO CRUSH THESE ANTI-LAW THUGS!

Folks, you won't believe this insanity straight out of the Chicago, the Blowing City. 

New video footage has emerged showing a deranged woman slamming her vehicle into one carrying our heroic federal agents on Saturday. That lunatic? Marimar Martinez. She was also packing a weapon, got rightfully shot in self-defense, and now she's locked up tight.

And get this, Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, the driver of another vehicle in this vehicular ambush, was nabbed by our boys in blue. These cowards thought they could play demolition derby with our protectors but learned the opposite the hard way.

It all went down Saturday morning when Border Patrol warriors were bushwhacked near the intersection of 39th Place and S. Kedzie Avenue by a pack of domestic terrorists ramming their cars into federal agents like it was some twisted game. The officers heroically bailed out of their pinned-down ride, and when one suspect tried to mow them down, they dropped her cold. The woman peeled out to the hospital, got patched up, and was slapped in cuffs right after discharge. She's rotting in FBI custody now, where she belongs.

This Martinez witch was armed to the teeth with a semi-automatic and has a filthy rap sheet of doxxing our federal agents, putting bullseyes on their backs! 

But it didn't stop there – the mob turned feral, swarming with more degenerates hurling smoke, gas, rocks, and bottles at our DHS defenders. Pure anarchy!

Thank God for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stepping up like the patriot she is, deploying elite special operations teams to Chicago. That's how you BACK THE BLUE,  with muscle and resolve.

One more domestic terrorist got pinched for straight-up assaulting CBP heroes right at the scene. As our ICE enforcers raced to the shooting, another psycho tailed them and smashed their vehicle, trying to run them off the road. That idiot is in HSI custody too, facing the hammer. An ICE rig blew a tire in the melee and got swarmed by these vermin, forcing our agents to ditch it for their lives. The damage was catastrophic. A total gut-punch to see good gear wrecked by these scumcrumpets.

Heartbreakingly, several CBP lions were rushed to the hospital with injuries ranging from bruises to breaks.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin nailed it, calling out the madness: "These attacks on our brave law enforcement officers must END. Secretary Noem has taken action to deploy additional resources to restore law and order. We will not allow domestic terrorists to attack our law enforcement. If you lay a hand on law enforcement, you will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."

Spot on, Tricia. And she dropped the bomb: Martinez was flagged in a Border Patrol bulletin for doxxing agents and straight-up threatening them.

This armed harpy was named in a @CBP intelligence bulletin last week for doxing agents and posting online 'Hey to all my gang let's f*ck those mother f*ckers up, don't let them take anyone.' Chilling words from a stone-cold killer wannabe.

Praise the Lord, no feds were seriously hurt in this bloodbath, a miracle amid the madness. But leave it to Illinois' spineless but corpulent Governor J.B. Pritzker to downplay it all as "propaganda" in a sniveling CNN hit. Classic Dem deflection, siding with terrorists over our protectors. 

America, we can't let these attacks slide. Stand with our law enforcement, demand justice, and let's make Chicago safe again. God bless the badge!

Gov. Pritzker says actions will be met with a 'response' if National Guard is sent to Chicago

Illinois Democrat Gov. JB Pritzker is no fan of President Trump and the President is obviously not the least bit perturbed about it. 

President Trump is planning to send in the National Guard to Chicago to deal with the rampant crime. [Why, it's so bad that even actor Jussie Smollett was attacked by his own friends one cold night a few years ago.]

Anyway, the corpulent governor says that 'action will be met with a response' if Trump does what he says he'll do, which is generally what happens when he says things. Pritzker says the state will not allow the federal government 'intimidate Chicagoans' by going after criminals. "We love our criminals," the rotund governor said as he bit down decisively on a Subway ham and cheese with the works.

"Unlike Donald Trump, we keep our promises," the governor wrote Wednesday on X. "We will not stand idly by if he decides to send the National Guard to intimidate Chicagoans. Action will be met with a response," the big man said. 

Of course, President Trump is one of the few people in public office that actually does keep his promises. The only promise he didn't keep was to lock up Hillary Clinton.

Big Pritzker's comments are the latest in his recent feud with President DonaldTrump, as the federal government considers whether to send troops to the Windy city.

Last week, the governor said there is no crime emergency in Chicago and Trump is "attempting to manufacture a crisis, politicize Americans who serve in uniform, and continue abusing his power to distract from the pain he is causing working families." 

Evidently, the huge governor doesn't think that 262 murders so far this year is a crime emergency. Perhaps Pritzker needs to define the term 'crime.'

"The safety of the people of Illinois is always my top priority," full-figured Pritzker said on Saturday. "There is no emergency that warrants the President of the United States federalizing the Illinois National Guard, deploying the National Guard from other states, or sending active duty military within our own borders. We will continue to follow the law, stand up for the sovereignty of our state, and protect the people of Illinois."

I would say that the governor is shooting himself in the foot by taking this stance, but it's doubtful that he can actually see his feet. Trump said that Pritzker is a 'slob.'

On Monday, Pritzker said the potential federal deployment is "unconstitutional" and "un-American," unlike former and nearly dead POTUS, Joe Biden, who used two US Marine Corps members as a backdrop on September 1, 2022 outside Independence Hall in Philadelphia for a speech that focused on the "battle for the soul of the nation" and criticized "MAGA Republicans."

Not just shoulders

"Donald Trump wants to use the military to occupy a U.S. city, punish its dissidents and score political points," he said, as if Trump was going to run for a third term. "If this were happening in any other country, we would have no trouble calling it what it is — a dangerous power grab."

Chicago Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson, has cited data showing that violent crime has declined in the last year, including homicides and robberies dipping by more than 30%, and shootings dropping by nearly 40%. Although, crime is still up compared to 2021, according to statistics posted by Chicago police.

It's obvious they manipulate the numbers like they do with the deficit: if the rate of deficit is lower than last year, that some how means we're saving money rather than continuing going into debt.

"The problem with the President's approach is that it is uncoordinated, uncalled for, and unsound," Johnson, who is clearly one of the dumbest American mayors, said on Friday. "Unlawfully deploying the National Guard to Chicago has the potential to inflame tensions between residents and law enforcement when we know that trust between police and residents is foundational to building safer communities."

The hypocrisy is palpable. 

For example, last year, Democratic NY Governor Kathy Hochul deployed 750 National Guard to New York City's subways to address the surge in subway crime. In 2020, Democratic Mayor Muriel Bowser called for National Guard's assistance in June following the thug, George Floyd's death to deal with looting and violence. And in the same year, a number of additional cities were crime ridden and Democratic governors in Minnesota [Timmy Walz] and California [ Gavin Newsom] activated the National Guard to deal with crime and unrest. Over 30,000 Guard troops were deployed across more than 30 states, mostly under Democratic 'leadership' to assist local law enforcement.

"When we fight back against tyranny, the people united will always prevail," Johnson later said. No joke.

President Trump responded to big-boned Pritzker and dim witted Johnson on Tuesday, writing in a social media post that the governor is "incompetent" and the mayor is "no better."

"A really DEADLY weekend in Chicago," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "6 DEAD, 27 HURT IN CRIME SPREES ALLOVER THE CITY. Panic stricken Governor Pritzker says that crime is under control, when in fact it is just the opposite. He is an incompetent Governor who should call me for HELP. Mayor Johnson is no better. Make Chicago Great Again!"

Just another reminder: "Lock her up!"

U.S. Mayor wears Hamasshole gear-- is blasted by Jewish community

Mayor of major US city blasted by Jews for wearing pro-Hamas symbol

Chicago’s Jewish community just got a slap in the face, and Hamas-loving Mayor Brandon Johnson’s the one swinging. 

Johnson posed for a photo wearing a keffiyeh—yeah, that scarf—to celebrate Arab Heritage Month, arm-in-arm with the local CAIR chapter. The Chicago Jewish Alliance (CJA) isn’t having it, and frankly, who can blame them? 

CAIR is an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood and they are the unindicted co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development (HLF) terrorism financing trial in the US. This case, prosecuted in 2007 and 2008 involved charges that they funneled millions of dollars to Hamas. CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) along with the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) were listed, among others, as unindicted co-conspirators, who were alleged to have ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and its U.S.-based networks. The 2008 retrial ended in guilty verdicts against HLF officials on 108 counts.

“This is outrageous,” the CJA said, and they’re not wrong. “For the mayor of Chicago to stand there—cloaked in a symbol now synonymous with Jewish bloodshed, flanked by an organization that justifies it—is more than tone-deaf. It’s a betrayal.” 

Exactly.

They didn’t stop there: “It tells Jewish Chicagoans: Your pain doesn’t matter. Your dead don’t count. Your safety is negotiable.” That’s not just a statement; it’s a gut punch. They called the keffiyeh “not neutral. It’s a flag of war.” Harsh? Perhaps. But it's not very different than a swastika. 

Let’s break it down. The keffiyeh isn’t just some hipster fashion statement anymore. “In today’s world, it’s worn at Hamas rallies. It’s paraded in the streets when mobs chant ‘From the river to the sea,’ a call for the eradication of Israel. It’s the uniform of those who cheered on the Oct. 7 massacre — where babies were burned, women raped, and over 1,200 Jews slaughtered.” That’s not hyperbole; that’s reality.

Then there’s CAIR. They blamed Israel for the Hamas-led Oct. 7 attacks, got kicked out of Biden’s anti-Semitism strategy, and their bigwig Nihad Awad flat-out said Israel has no right to defend itself. Subtle, right?

The alliance isn’t saying Arab Heritage Month shouldn’t happen—nah, they’re all for it. “Food, music, poetry, and history” are the way to go, they say, not “embracing symbols of terror.” Fair point.

Lisa Katz from the Combat Anti-Semitism Movement chimed in, urging Johnson to quit posturing and start talking. “Engage in open dialogue with Chicago’s Jewish community, learn more about the evolving symbols of modern-day antisemitism, and show solidarity against antisemitism and hate in all their contemporary forms,” she said. Translation: Step up, Mayor. Be a leader, not a photo-op.

Katz sees a chance here: “This moment presents an opportunity for education, for empathy and for leadership that brings communities together rather than deepening divides.” Noble, but good luck with that when the mayor’s already picked his side.

"Allahu Akbar!" he shouted after shooting a Jewish man in Chicago--had plans for future attacks on Jews

An illegal alien allegedly shot a Jewish man who was on his way to a Chicago synagogue last month. He then shot at police and paramedics. He had previously mapped out synagogues, Jewish schools and community centers in the area of West Rogers Park, a predominantly Jewish area, before the attack.

Guess the alleged shooter's name.

There was a detention hearing on Friday with Sidi Mohamed [yes, I said Mohamed] Abdallahi. He used his cellphone to find potential targets in the area before the shooting on October 26th. His target was a 39-year-old Jewish man who was guilty of walking to his synagogue to worship on the Sabbath, according to Yeshiva News World. In addition, he also searched for a gun store and a firing range in the area. 

Assistant State’s Attorney Anne McCord Rodgers said, "This was not anything but a planned attack … an attempted assassination of these people. This was a calculated plan, on a public street… and an attempted slaughter of that person and law enforcement officers."

Abdallahi, a Muslim, has been in the US illegally for two years. He appeared in court on Friday for the first time since being hospitalized due to gunshot wounds he earned in a shootout with the police.

Law enforcement said that there was data on Abdallahi's phone of saved locations and synagogues. He also conducted internet searches for “Jewish Community Center” days before the attack. Prosecutors also stated that the phone contained hundreds of anti-Semitic and pro-Hamasshole videos. 

After the attack, local officials failed to report it as a hate crime or terrorism because, after all, it was planned against, you know, Jews, despite Abdallahi yelling "Allahu Akbar," as the viral video of the shooting shows.

McCord Rodgers added, “This was a targeted attack against the Jewish community.”

The video [above] does not report that hate crime charges have been filed but as of today, they have.

The visibly Jewish victim [he wore a kippah or yarmulke and looked intelligent] was walking in the 2900 block of West Farwell Avenue when Abdallahi opened fire from behind him. The Jewish victim told investigators that he heard the gunshot and felt pain in his shoulder but didn’t realize he had been shot until noticing a hole in his jacket.

The shooting was captured on surveillance footage. Abdallahi was heard screaming “Allahu Akbar” and was seen running away while attempting to clear his semi-automatic pistol, which jammed because he probably didn't clean it. He returned to the scene on foot for his car and, according to prosecutors, Abdallahi fired two shots at police officers and paramedics who were tending to the victim at the scene. He then got into a firefight with officers and hit an ambulance twice before being shot by police.

Despite his injuries, Abdallahi fired at officers again before collapsing, but the cops didn't kill him because jihads only work one way.

According to Fox 32, Judge Susana Ortiz ordered Abdallahi to remain in custody on multiple counts of attempted murder, hate crime, and terrorism.

Chicago Police clueless regarding motive of Muslim gunman shouting "Allahu Akbar" as he shot Orthodox Jew

Sidi Mohamed Abdallah, 22,  shot a 39-year-old Orthodox Jewish man as he walked to synagogue on Shabbat leaving police baffled as to what his motive could be.

Abdallah went into a Jewish neighborhood in Chicago and shot a visibly Jewish man who was on his way to synagogue, and then he got into a gun fight with police as he mysteriously shouted "Allahu Akbar," leaving the cops to scratch their collective heads wondering why.

The shooter, a Muslim man, during the gun battle, shouted the magic words but still got wounded as police shot him. Lucky for Abdallah, police after hearing his war shout did not charge him with a hate crime, but only because they had no idea why he shot at an Orthodox Jewish person on his way to synagogue on the Jewish Sabbath.

“The first thing is we have to find out who’s committing the crime. Secondly, we have to find out the motive for the crime,” Chicago police super-duper-intendent Larry Snelling said during a press conference Monday afternoon. “We don’t just go in and assume that everything is a hate crime, but what we don’t do is rule out the possibility that it could be.”

But why simply call it a hate crime when you can call it terrorism? After all, if shooting at cops while shouting "Allahu Akbar" [Allah is greater] to display the superiority of the shooter's deity to those of the, you know, Jews, isn't the "T" word, then what is?

There are reports that the shooter is also an illegal alien who crossed the border but the cops refuse to confirm this in their reports, just like they're unwilling to confirm whether he shouted the magic words about Allah.

Yes, after refusing to release Mohamed’s identity for three days, and the Jewish identity of the victim, the CPD is refusing to release whether he shouted, “Allahu Akbar.”

Chicago Democrat convicted on only 13 corruption charges

Edward Burke, a former Chicago alderman has been convicted on a mere 13 federal corruption charges, a fairly small number for a Democrat. They include bribery, racketeering and attempted extortion.

Burke was found guilty of 13 out of 14 charges after a six-week trial.

The case against Burke involved corrupt transactions in which he used his political position for bribes and kickbacks, in the spirit of the Bidens . . . allegedly. He was also indicted for using his political position to bring business to his law firm from private developers. 

The New York Post reported that Burke targeted the developer 601W Companies LLC of New York. The company was working on a $600 million renovation to Chicago’s Old Post Office, a Burger King restaurant, and the liquor store chain Benny’s Beverage Depot.

But that's not all. The Democrat tried to extort money from the Field Museum, trying to 

The Democrat also attempted to extort money from the Field Museum, where he tried to pressure them into directing tax appeal business to his private law firm. 

Another former alderman, Danny Solis, wore a wire for about two years to assist the government investigating the case. He secretly recorded the Democrat on several occasions and this was used as evidence in the trial.

“Did we land the, uh, tuna?” Burke asked Solis, allegedly referring to getting a company to bite at the hook. 

In another recorded instance Burke can be heard saying that the developers could "go f**k themselves" if they thought they were going to receive his favorable treatment. It's likely that developer refused to be coerced.

Burke, a Democrat, also known as a political strategist and influencer, was apparently an anti-Semite to boot after he eas heard making anti-Semitic sounding comments, like saying they “deal with Jews to the exclusion of everyone else … unless there’s a reason for them to use a Christian” referring to the lead developer of the Old Post Office renovation project.

Whether that's true or not, [and there's no reason to think it has anything to do with contractors being Jewish] it's interesting that this was something he focused on. 

Burke faces a minimum sentence of only 110 years in federal prison but he's a Democrat and is likely to serve a lot less time than what is prescribed.

His developer, Charles Cui, and Peter Andrews, Burke’s political aide, were also tried alongside Burke. Andrews was found not guilty of all charges, while Cui was guilty of bribery.

Soros-backed Kim Foxx, who got Jussie Smollett off the hook, gives herself the hook

The Chicago prosecutor, Kim Foxx, who received millions of Soros funding said on Tuesday that she'll not seek re-election next year. 

Foxx [who is anything but] became Cook County, IL state's attorney in 2016 and is best known for her hands-off law enforcement, and for allowing Jussie Smollett, a gay black actor, to avoid any serious consequences regarding the racist hoax he created, after she had the charges dropped.

You may remember how Smollett paid two Nigerian individuals to "attack" him in the middle of the night during a polar vortex in the streets of Chicago after he went out to a Subway restaurant for a sandwich. He was supposedly attacked by two white men in red hats with rope and bleach yelling, "This is MAGA country!" and put the rope around his neck, allegedly doused him with bleach, and off they went.

Smollett went home with the rope still around his neck and his sandwich intact, called police and told the story to them about the "two white men." He kept the rope around his neck, by the way.

It turns out that Smollett had hired two Nigerian brothers who were bodybuilders, to carry out his hoax. A grand jury later indicted him on six counts of disorderly conduct over the false reports to the Chicago PD.

He served less than a week in jail and still pretended the story he made up was true, as he cried us a river on television.

When Foxx won the campaign and began serving the criminal elements of Chicago, Soros had slipped her campaign $400,000 to help the cause.

Later, in 2020, Soros, a devout anti-America socialist, provided $2 million to a committee backing her re-election efforts against three Democratic challengers, one of which received a massive funding boost from their wealthy father.

Soros has backed dozens of far-left prosecutor candidates as part of his efforts to destroy the criminal justice system. Foxx was among the most visible leftists. Some of the others he backed are Kim Gardner in St. Louis, George Gascón in Los Angeles, and Larry Krasner in Philadelphia. 

The candidates Soros supports all oppose cash bail, favor anemic law enforcement, and back "restorative justice" initiatives which push to refuse charging minors who commit serious crimes, as adults. 

The cities in which Soros supported prosecutors preside are cities where crime thrives and where people seek to leave.

The Chicago Tribune first reported Tuesday afternoon that Foxx would not seek re-election next year. But don't worry, Chicago is about as "MAGA country" as Saudi Arabia is a Jewish State. It will very likely be electing another Democrat next year, and crime will very likely continue at the same pace.

Chicago Mayor-elect makes excuses for rampaging youths as the city circles the bowl

Chicago's Democrat Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson couldn't get an entire first paragraph out about the teen takeover riots that terrorized the Windy City, destroying property, and wrecking violence as hundreds of youths descended upon the downtown area for two consecutive nights, without making excuses for their wild behavior.

On one side of his mouth, Johnson condemned the rioting, and on the other side said that condemning them is "not constructive." But he doesn't offer any alternative and condemning them following up with consequences for their violence and destruction, seems like it might make them, or other young people, think before they rampage. 

Attacking innocent bystanders, destroying property, firing guns in the streets should be vilified, should have consequences.

Two teenage males, 16 and 17, were shot while hanging out in a crowd during the rioting on Saturday night. They were taken to the hospital and listed in fair condition.

Hundreds of teens smashed cars, fought in the streets and blocked traffic. Johnson responded to the rioting in a statement Sunday:

"In no way do I condone the destructive activity we saw in the Loop and lakefront this weekend. It is unacceptable and has no place in our city. However, it is not constructive to demonize youth who have otherwise been starved of opportunities in their own communities. 

"Our city must work together to create spaces for youth to gather safely and responsibly, under adult guidance and supervision, to ensure that every part of our city remains welcome for both residents and visitors."

Chicago police arrested nine adults and six juveniles in connection with the rampage, which was advertised on social media. A 16-year-old boy was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, while two other suspects were charged with possession of a stolen vehicle. Most of the other arrests were for reckless conduct.

Current Mayor and loser in the recent election, Lori Lightfoot, condemned the "reckless, disrespectful and unlawful behavior" on display over the weekend. She blamed the parents but, like Johnson, had no solutions other than to point fingers.

"As I have said before, we as a city cannot and will not allow any of our public spaces to become a platform for criminal conduct," Lightfoot said in a statement. "Most importantly, parents and guardians must know where their children are and be responsible for their actions. Instilling the important values of respect for people and property must begin at home."

But they, as a city, allowed their public spaces to become a platform for criminal conduct. So what the hell is she talking about? What is the city going to do about it? Blame parents, when the real problem isn't the one parent raising these kids, it's the lack of fathers in the home, the disrespect the left constantly displays for law enforcement and even the law itself?

Johnson has caught backlash from the centrist wing of the Democratic Party during the mayoral run over his history of support for defunding the police by giving funds earmarked for them to other social services. Just another position he had to walk back until now.

Johnson had proposed to fund social workers, not cops, in 2020, calling it an "actual, real political goal." But when he ran for mayor, he changed his tune and walked it back with what sounded like a Kamala Harris excuse for lying in a debate ["It was a debate, hahahaha. It was a hahahaha, debate."] Johnson said, "I said it was a political goal. I never said it was mine." 

In other words, political goals are simply goals to get elected and don't need to represent what you're really going to do.

Johnson also wants to raise taxes on financial transactions, and increase large company head tax from $1 to $4 per company employee, and raise $98 million in jet fuel tax. All this in order to provide all kinds of services to illegal aliens and even allow them to vote in school board elections. 

What is also very important to him is to protect the right to kill the unborn and punish those who misgender people disguised as members of their opposite sex.

So don't expect much of a difference between Lori Lightfoot and Brandon Johnson when it comes to crime and leftist values.

Brandon Johnson is Chicago's new progressive mayor

Chicago has elected Brandon Johnson another leftist to fill in as Mayor of the city replacing the execrable Lori Lightfoot, who came in a miserable third in the Democrat runoff.

"I may be a millionaire, but at least I'm not a billionaire!"

Johnson is endorsed by fellow communist Bernie Sanders which should tell you a bit as to how Johnson will run the joint after he defeated his moderate opponent, Paul Vallas, the former Chicago Public Schools CEO. Vallas had the support of the city's police union and major business groups, while Johnson that the backing of the Chicago Teachers Union.

Lightfoot, who was one of the most incompetent people in power, became the first Chicago mayor in four decades to lose a re-election bid.

One of the deciding reasons Lightfoot is gone has to do with the crime climbing through the proverbial roof during her mishandling of it and her call for defunding the police while people were being killed in the city.

The now-former mayor came in third in the general election, losing to Johnson by five points, while Vallas took the plurality of votes and lost in the final election.

Lightfoot broke the glass ceiling in Chicago as homicides in 2021 hit a 25-year-high as it soared to 797, as reported by the Chicago PD. She was also the first black lesbian mayor thereby proving that ability trumps identity every time.

Now Chicagoans will find out whether things improve in their town. If not, the smart ones will leave because while Jussie Smollett believes Chicago is "MAGA country," it's a one-party city and it isn't the Republican Party at all.

Lori Lightfoot light on the votes she need: 1st Chicago mayor to lose re-election in 40 years

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot (D) lost her re-election bid on Monday and now the city of Chicago has the possible chance of lowering its crime rate, as she was as useless as crutches for a gimpy goldfish when it came to that issue. 

Under the openly gay, Black mayor, the crime rate continues to soar like a rocket, and I think it's going to be a long, long time before it touches down, but at least now there is a distinct chance that it will. However, in 2021, the homicides in the Windy City rose to their highest level in 25 years and blew away cities like Los Angeles and New York.

Perhaps the biggest problem for the city was Lightfoot's overt criticism with police, which led to a hemorrhaging of officers leaving the force. Of course, crime rose to new heights and Lightfoot was impotent to assuage the problem.

Anyway, Lightfoot squared off against 8 other challengers in the mayoral race and she failed to make it to the runoff as she finished in third place. 

The finale saw Paul Vallas, the city's Public School CEO and city budget director, and Cook County Board of Commissioners Brandon Johnson as the two top contenders and they will face off on April 4th while Lightfoot complains about racism, in spite of losing to Brandon Johnson who is Black and Vallas who is an American of Greek descent.

Due to the number of candidates in the race for the Democratic nomination, none reached the 50% level that would have taken them over the hump and eliminated the field.

The internet was delighted to see the Black lesbian leave office in the near future. The birds of Twitter went into a tweeting frenzy with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) tweeting: "Lori Lightfoot. Crime doesn't pay."

Gianno Caldwell, a FOX News political analyst whose brother was murdered in Chicago last summer under Lightfoot's watch wrote that the Lori Lightfoot "experiment" is "officially over. Thank you, CHICAGO."

"There is hope for my home city yet," legal expert and FOX News Jonathan Turley posted. "Lori Lightfoot is out. The greatest potential improvement for the city since 1900 when the direction of the Chicago river was reversed."

Former Presidential Press Secretary and FOX News cohost of "Outnumbered," Kayleigh McEnany, tweeted about what she said of Lightfoot in 2020, calling her the "derelict mayor of Chicago" regarding her mishandling of crime in the city. McEnany suggested that Lightfoot seek federal assistance to help cope with the wave of crime, to which Lightfoot arrogantly replied: "Hey Karen. Watch your mouth."

"Lori Lightfoot lost her election," McEnany tweeted on Monday. "Perhaps she should have woken up when I referred to her as the "derelict mayor of Chicago" from the White House podium for ignoring victims of crime in her city! Instead, she said "Hey, Karen. Watch your mouth"

"Karen here, you lost," McEnany said of Lightfoot's defeat.

Hey Lightfoot. Mind the door.

Maybe Democrats have finally learned their lesson and one of them is likely to win the nonpartisan mayoral election runoff on April 4th.

Chicago Mayor Lightfoot behind in latest poll for Feb. 28 election

Chicago's extraordinary [not in a good way] Mayor Lori Lightfoot for some reason is trailing former CEO of Chicago Public Schools, Paul Vallas, who leads the other hopeful candidates with 22% compared to 'Pretty Little Miss' Lightfoot with 17.1% in the poll, the Washington Examiner reported Tuesday.

Along with the pair, two others are in double digits: Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson and Rep. Jesus "Chuy" Garcia (D-IL).

In spite of Lightfoot's incredible ineptitude over her responses to crime, immigration and education, the low-information voters have not counted her out and her poll numbers have improved somewhat. It appears Chicagoans who would vote for her have very short memories.

A February 8th poll from the Chicago Sun-Times, Telemundo Chicago, NBC5 Chicago, and WBEZ Public Radio put Mayor Lightfoot in third place, with Garcia in first and Vallas in second. 

On February 14th, Vallas took the lead in a Northwestern University poll with the Lightfoot in third place. Lightfoot is the only black lesbian in the race so that gives her street creds with the Dems, so don't count her out; count her lucky.

The election is set for Feb. 28. A runoff, if necessary, would be held April 4. 

If Lori Lightfoot wins, Chicago will get the representation they deserve, good and hard.

Mayor Lightfoot is sorry for trying to recruit school kids to work for her campaign for credit

Chicago Mayor Lori "Beetlejuice" Lightfoot (D) says she sorry for emails she had her campaign send out to Chicago Public School teachers to recruit student "volunteers" and get class credit in the bargain.

Lightfoot said Thursday her staff didn't work with the school system to get out the emails asking teachers to share a form encouraging students to volunteer in exchange for class credit, but she pretended to apologize.

"There was zero, zero coercion, coordination or anything else between the campaign and Chicago Public Schools," the former beauty queen hopeful said. "Zero. I want that to be abundantly clear."

The anemic apology came one day after a news report about the email, which also went to City Colleges staff, and now the city and school district inspector generals are gathering information to see if any policies were violated, according to WBEZ Chicago.

Though Lightfoot personally apologized, she threw a young staffer under the bus to save her own butt, the news outlet also reports.

“It was a mistake," Lightfoot said, sounding like Prince Harry by never taking any blame. "She understands it was a mistake."

Lightfoot said she only learned about the matter Wednesday afternoon. And if you believe that, I have a talking turtle you might be interested in.

However, City Colleges released a statement Thursday saying they notified Lightfoot's campaign about the emails in August, when staffers first received them after being advised to do so by their Ethics Department. 

So she lied! 

"Volunteers are expected to devote 12 hrs/wk to the campaign. Students are eligible to earn class credit through our volunteer program," the form reads.

Lightfoot said a supervisor was aware of the efforts by the staffer, who was not fired, but she doesn’t think the campaign was aware of how the staffer would go about such efforts, the network reported.

Lori Lightfoot being sued by reporter whose press pass was revoked and his 1st Amendment rights violated

Chicago -- A reporter is suing Mayor Lori "Beetlejuice" Lightfoot for her "attack on the First Amendment" after he was verbally abused by her and ended up having his press credentials removed. [H/T Fox News]

"I was asking the obvious questions, and she lost her temper," journalist William Kelly said on "Fox & Friends" Wednesday, recalling a May exchange where she told him he was "full of crap."

"Mayor Lightfoot is in re-election mode, and she doesn't want any more embarrassing questions to go viral. So she revoked my media credential. … This is a very serious constitutional crisis in the city of Chicago."

So he's taking Lightfoot to court where a progressive judge will might trample on the US Constitution as well.

Kelly's press credentials were taken from him in August at which time he filed a federal lawsuit alleging Lightfoot and the Chicago PD Superintendent David Brown violated his First and Fourteenth Amendment rights.

Kelly spoke on Tucker Carlson's show "Tucker Carlson Tonight" in September at which time he said that Lightfoot and Brown helped create an altercation between him and Mayor Beetlejuice's security detail and he alleged that it was this "false report" that was used as the pretext to keep him out of press events. 

So it's likely that Kelly is an actual reporter who asks probing questions that make liberals like Lightfoot and Brown uncomfortable.

"The problem is that he sat down and wrote me a letter telling me that he was revoking my media credentials when the police department is down 1500 officers, we have an out-of-control crime epidemic, police suicide is at an all-time high," Kelly said Wednesday. "He's taking time out of his day to write me a letter telling me that he's revoking my media credential."

"I think the priorities are completely out of whack."

Kelly argued that the incompetent mayor is trying to protect herself from his questions about her "failures in performance" due to her facing re-election and warned that her actions could set a dangerous precedent for reporters and free speech in America.

"She wants to win this case against me and then expand this attack on the First Amendment to all the reporters who ask her real questions or any reporter nationally who would dare to ask a real question of a powerful politician," Kelly said.

Kelly said that this current lawsuit is really a fight to defend the First Amendment, one of the least favorite Amendments of the Left along with the Second Amendment and all the rest.

Bloody Labor Day weekend in 2 Democrat-run cities is "Devastating and Unacceptable"

Violent guns in Philadelphia and Chicago, two Democrat-run metropolises where guns are outlawed, somehow didn't get the memo that they were not allowed to be used and these guns caused bloodshed over the Labor Day weekend.

The Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) recorded 38 total gun violence victims between Friday and Monday, including nine who died from their wounds, authorities told Fox News Digital.

"The amount of violent incidents over this holiday weekend is devastating and unacceptable," Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney tweeted Monday. 

What does he mean by "unacceptable?" If he isn't going to accept it, what is his plan to stop those violent guns? Or by not accepting it, does he mean that he doesn't accept the fact that people were shot?

"Philadelphians deserve to be safe in their communities. My deepest sympathies go out to all those affected by this senseless violence, especially families that have lost loved ones."

Well, now that we know his deepest sympathies, as opposed to his shallowest sympathies, go out to all those affected by senseless violence, that helps a lot. 

One Sunday shooting incident that occurred around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Market Street and 10th Street — just blocks away from Philadelphia City Hall — resulted in the arrests of five juveniles along with their violent guns.

Police recovered two angry, illegal violent guns, including one with an illegal extended magazine, in their pursuit of the juveniles, according to PPD Commissioner Danielle Outlaw.

"Those who take part in violent behavior will be apprehended; our residents and visitors will not be intimidated, and ours [sic] officers will not be deterred," Outlaw said in a Sunday tweet.

On Monday, six people were illegally shot on the 700 block of Russell St in North Philadelphia. Two of the six victims died, and two are in critical condition, according to PPD. This also sounds unacceptable.

"Two people have died, two are in critical condition, and two are expected to recover physically," the Department said in a Monday tweet. "The violence happening in our city is unacceptable, and we ask the public to not only keep the victims in your prayers, but also to share information about crime in your neighborhoods."

There is a $20,000 reward being offered for information leading to the suspect involved in Monday's deadly shooting. Law enforcement asks that anyone with information to call 911 or 215-686-TIPS.

Homicides in Philadelphia are up 3%, with 373 total homicide victims recorded so far this year compared to 361 at the same time last year.

In Chicago, police recorded 55 total shooting victims, including nine who died from their injuries, between Friday and Monday evening. Another homicide victim was fatally stabbed, according to the Chicago Police Department.

The total number of shooting victims decreased, however, by 23% compared to Labor Day Weekend last year.

In one Sunday incident, four men between the ages of 18 and 20 were shot when "an unknown offender approached the victims, produced a handgun, and fired shots." One of the 18-year-old victims was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

In the Windy City, Chicago Police Department (CPD) Superintendent David Brown bragged about "significant declines in gun violence in the city" during a Tuesday press conference. He noted that there has been 605 few violent guns shooting people so far this year and that homicides are down 15% with shootings down 19%.

Meanwhile, almost 1,000 carjacking arrests have been made in 2022 and cops have recovered 8,765 guns this year, proving the old saying that when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.

"Our job is never done," Brown said Tuesday. "There's not a day that we don't risk our lives for all of you in this city, and we'll continue that."

Last year, Philadelphia saw record homicide numbers, while Chicago recorded a 25-year-high.

Thus far, 463 people have been murdered in Chicago compared to 545 at the same time last year. So the Democrats see this as a positive thing like they do with the federal budget when they lower the rate of debt rather than actually reducing it.

And as I write this post, there's a crazed gunman in Memphis shooting and killing people and live-streaming it on Facebook. Our criminal justice system has become more sympathetic to the criminal than it has for the victim. We even have an idiot Vice President who crowdfunded bail money for a killer who then went out and committed another crime.

Lightfoot's anti-gun hotline was a not-line and a failure

Chicago's Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot created an anti-gun tip hotline in July 2021. The purpose of the hotline was for people to turn in their neighbors, family and all others who are known to possess a firearm and they would get money for squealing. 

Lightfoot funded this hotline with one million taxpayer dollars in order for people “who have a conscience” to take a bite out of crime and get paid for turning people into law enforcement.

After just one year since the Orwellian program began, only a pittance of people provided tips that had been verified and thus rewarded with money. At this time, a tad over 0.01%, or $10,395 of the $1,000,000 was paid out to informants, according to the Chicago Tribune.

“I want you to know that I recognize that people are scared, people all over the city. This is the topic of conversation,” Lightfoot said. “Gun violence is holding us back from realizing our individual potential and our potential and greatness as a city.”

Her solution was to get rid of violent guns, because they don't have a conscience and will shoot anyone who gets in their way. Yes, this is leftist logic, if you believe they mean it.

Lightfoot’s handpicked police superintendent, David Brown, added, “This incentive will not only bring honest people forward because of that anonymity but likely will bring people who may be involved, who have a conscience,” the Chicago Sun-Times reported. 

Turns out Brown and Lightfoot don't know much about the human condition because the first tip to Lightfoot's "Gun Trafficking and Homicide Tip Line" took ten months to happen. In May 2022, the very first tip that resulted in an arrest and charge found the tipster being paid $10,000, according to WFLD.

According to the city’s infographic for the hotline, tipsters will be paid $3,000 if their tip leads to charges of someone buying or illegally selling ten or more guns, they will receive $5,000 if someone is convicted of the crime, they can get $10,000 for tips leading to a homicide charge, and they will be rewarded $15,000 if those charged with homicide are convicted.

It's like a game show that nobody's watching.

Despite the general failure of the tip line, Lightfoot has tried to make sell it to the public.

Arne Duncan, former Obama Education Secretary and possible candidate for the mayor’s office, blasted Lightfoot for her thoughtless attempts to fight crime.

“Strategies that aren’t thought out, that aren’t thoughtful, that aren’t implemented, that’s almost like the worst possible scenario. This stuff is really hard, it’s complex, but headlines and P.R. don’t keep people alive,” Duncan said, according to the Chicago Tribune. “The fact that this is literally a matter of life and death and the fact we are losing so many lives is untenable. This is the crisis facing our city.”
