Karen Bass nearly has a cow after Trump freezes UCLA funds--but wait, there's more!

Well look who's throwing a tantrum now. Failed Los Angeles Democrat Mayor Karen Bass took to social media late Friday night, positively seething over news that the Trump administration yanked over half a billion bucks in funding from UCLA for playing footsie with anti-Semitism on campus. Apparently, the university thought it could just ignore those pesky allegations of Jew-hatred without consequence.

They thought wrong.

Bass, who's never been accused of being the brightest light on the Chanukah bush  (remember when she jetted off to Ghana while the Palisades wildfires raged, only to mosey back like it was no big deal?), is predictably late to the outrage party. And oh boy, she is gonna lose her tiny mind when she hears the latest: The Trump administration is now gunning for a billion-dollar settlement from UCLA. Yes, you read that right, a cool $1 billion for letting their campus turn into a cesspool of civil rights violations tied to anti-Semitism during those oh-so-enlightened pro-Palestinian protests.

The deal on the table is that UCLA coughs up the billion in installments, sets up a $172 million fund for victims of discrimination, and makes some actual policy changes. We're talking revamping their protest rules, rethinking those race-based scholarships, and, get this, cutting funding for gender-affirming care at UCLA's hospital. No more little boys getting their wee-wees chopped off, nor girls their breasts.

This is reasonable stuff, unless you're one of the woke overlords running UCLA into the dirt, in which case you're probably clutching your pearls and screaming about the end of the world.

UC President James Milliken, for instance, is out here whining that the financial hit would "devastate" UCLA's research mission and the entire public university system.

"As a public university, we are stewards of taxpayer resources and a payment of this scale would completely devastate our country's greatest public university system as well as inflict great harm on our students and all Californians," Milliken bleated in a statement. Sorry Jimmy, maybe if you had been better "stewards" of taxpayer cash instead of letting your campus become a playground for liberal lunacy, you wouldn't be in this mess.

Just spitballing here.

Meanwhile, $584 million in federal research funding is already on ice as leverage, and Bass is not a fan. She called it a "reckless decision" that "will have devastating consequences for scientific progress."

UCLA Chancellor Julio Frenk is also having a full-on meltdown, warning, "If these funds remain suspended," per Politico, "it will be devastating for UCLA and for Americans across the nation."

Let’s be real: Nobody is losing sleep over UCLA potentially ponying up a billion bucks for fostering bigotry, ignoring it, and then doubling down. And honestly, they'd be a lot better off, maybe even earn a modicum of respect, if they ditched the racial discrimination, anti-Semitism, and advocacy for child mutilation. Just a thought.

That being said, what are your thoughts?
