The threat from Hamas to aid workers in Gaza came immediately after the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) announced that it distributed over a million meals across the Gaza Strip on Sunday.
Thankfully, however, aid is reaching Gazan civilians, although the situation is fraught with danger. The GHF, an U.S.-Israeli-backed initiative, has been distributing aid through new hubs in Gaza, particularly in the south, since late May, following an 11-week Israeli blockade.
These efforts aim to bypass the United Nations, which Israel says is failing to prevent Hamas from diverting aid. However, the distribution process has been marred by violence, with reports of dozens of Palestinian deaths near aid sites due to Israeli gunfire, which have now been shown to be perpetrated by Hamas but originally blamed on the IDF.
Regarding Hamas interference, there are conflicting accounts, but video evidence shows Hamas actively interfering, often violently, with aid delivery. They have also set up roadblocks to prevent civilians from reaching distribution centers, and have shot and killed civilians near these sites.
For instance, posts on X from May 27, 2025, cite sources alleging Hamas set up roadblocks, though civilians reportedly overran them to access aid.
The IDF has also released unverified recordings suggesting Hamas spreads false claims about casualties to disrupt aid efforts. Hamas, however, denies these accusations, rejecting claims of stealing aid or targeting civilians. The legacy media, fast to believe Hamas and last to believe Israel, has only made matters worse for the Jewish state.
The UN, a known anti-Zionist organization, has stated that Hamas diversion of aid is not a significant issue, and humanitarian groups have criticized the GHF system as unworkable and unsafe.
The situation is further complicated by the ongoing conflict, with IDF operations and restrictions limiting safe access to aid sites. Gazans often face long, dangerous journeys to reach these hubs, and the GHF temporarily halted operations on June 4, 2025, citing security concerns and the need for better civilian safety measures.
In summary, while aid is reaching some Gazans, the process is chaotic and dangerous. Hamas may deny interfering, but that's like believing the scorpion who promises not to sting you when you need to ride his back to cross the pond. It is the very nature of Hamas to lie--it's called jizzyah, and it's done for the sake of Islam.
Imagine that.
