So, Dave Portnoy's got a heart, right? Trying to play the wise elder instead of torching these kids’ futures. He’s like, “The more I thought about it, these are young f***ing morons who did this, they’re drunk, do you really want to ruin somebody’s life?”
Fair point, Dave. Kids do dumb s**t when they’re hammered.
Instead of dropping the hammer, he’s thinking, “Maybe that’s not the best course of action, maybe I can use this as a teaching moment...let’s try to turn a hideous incident into a learning experience.” Noble, right?
He’s got these two chowderheads pegged as the main culprits, sits ’em down, and says, “I’m sending these kids to Auschwitz, they’ve agreed to go.” Ballsy move, shipping ’em off to face history head-on. Respect.
But then—plot twist—this kid Khan, one of the two, starts backpedaling like he’s auditioning for a legal drama. Portnoy, who’s not here for the BS, calls him out in a later video, saying Khan’s “no longer taking any responsibility” and “lawyering up and blaming it all on his friend now.” Weak sauce, Khan.
Portnoy’s pissed because he had these guys on the phone, and both were like, “I talked to both of them on the phone, both of them took accountability, both of them were like ‘yes, we did this’.” Straight-up owning it, or so he thought.
Then Khan drops this now-deleted social media post, trying to spin himself as some innocent bystander. He’s all, “As part of my regular series of posting videos of my experience as a college student in Philadelphia, I documented what took place as a citizen journalist. Neither I, nor anyone whose username tagged in the video I posted, paid for or requested that sign. The credit card and ID on the table were not mine either. I abhor hate in all its forms. I was raised to be respectful and amicable to all people.”
Oh, come on, dude. “Citizen journalist”? That’s the best you got? Sounds like a kid caught with his pants down when mom walks into the room, swearing he was just “documenting” the crumbs.
Portnoy isn’t buying it. Calls it “a full 180” from Khan’s original mea culpa. Says he’s got a recording of this kid dodging blame, claiming he was “pressured into it.” Portnoy’s like, “I’m trying to make this a teachable moment. I’m not going to send him [to Poland] now...I don’t need you lying. Do you think everyone’s stupid?”
Portnoy’s out here trying to turn a s***show into a life lesson, and Khan’s playing dodgeball with accountability.
