Latest on Shamsud-Din Jabbar and the NO attack

Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the Texas-born, 42-year-old suspect who drove a rental truck on Bourbon Street in New Orleans on New Year's, was a politically active, registered Democrat, who donated to ACTBLUE on 5/7/2020 and 8/31/2014. We also know that he was a Muslim convert who was discharged from the U.S. Army after his conversion.

In 2020, Jabbar's ex-wife took out a restraining order against him during divorce proceedings. He fathered at least three children and has been married and divorced at least twice.

Currently, the death toll was increased to 15 and at least 35 were injured. Also, Jabbar was shot dead by police after he got out of the rented truck and began firing at them. Multiple pipe bombs were also found and 3 men and 1 woman were found on video to have planted them.

It's strongly believed that Jabbar was part of a sleeper cell and was not working alone. While it was initially not reported as an act of terrorism, there is no doubt that it was.

Republican Governor of Louisiana, Jeff Landry, has declared a state of emergency.

Court documents indicate that Jabbar's second ex-wife, Shaneed Chantil Jabbar, 40, was granted the temporary restraining order against him in July 2020. The order expressly forbid Shamsud-Din Jabbar from sending threatening or obscene messages to her or causing "bodily injury" to her or their child.

He was definitely not a prince of a guy--more like a putrid scumwafer who would make late night phone calls to prank her, cancel her credit cards, and was otherwise abusive.

He was separated from his first wife, Nakedra Charrlle Jabbar, 41, in 2012, court documents show and she was granted custody of their two children. Shamsud-Din Jabbar was ordered to pay up to $650 a month for child support along with medical insurance for the children.

Jabbar served as an HR specialist and an IT specialist in the Army for a decade, and later worked for The Midas Group. In 2020, he posted a YouTube video where he claims to he a property manager at Blue Meadows Properties.

In 2002 he was charged with misdemeanor theft and in 2005, he was caught driving with a suspended license, according to a Newsweek report.

Alleged President Joe Biden said in a statement he likely memorized over the years: "My heart goes out to the victims and their families who were simply trying to celebrate the holiday. There is no justification for violence of any kind, and we will not tolerate any attack on any of our nation's communities."

President-elect Donald Trump on Truth Social on Wednesday morning: "When I said that the criminals coming in are far worse than the criminals we have in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by Democrats and the Fake News Media, but it turned out to be true.

"The crime rate in our country is at a level that nobody has ever seen before. Our hearts are with all of the innocent victims and their loved ones, including the brave officers of the New Orleans Police Department. The Trump Administration will fully support the City of New Orleans as they investigate and recover from this act of pure evil."

Governor Landry, on X, formerly Twitter: "A horrific act of violence took place on Bourbon Street earlier this morning. Please join Sharon and I in praying for all the victims and first responders on scene. I urge all near the scene to avoid the area."

The public is being asked to avoid Bourbon Street north from Canal to Dumaine streets and also east to Royal Street and west to Dauphine Street until further notice.

The FBI is leading the investigation.
