Some people might think it's funny when someone cannot stop hiccupping or literally die laughing. It isn't funny and we must make all efforts to get them to become serious in the latter case, and to scare them out of their hiccups in the former case.
But what about the head of a country, in this case Russia, when it comes to the leader's pollux? How can they get him to stop his phantosmia-like behavior; and if they cannot, how does it affect the day-to-day carrying out of the business of the country?
Perhaps Vladimir Putin's latest habit of smelling his left thumb is not hallucinatory behavior, but it really looks stupid and the world is watching. How can he even fight a war with Ukraine if he can't even get his left thumb away from his nares.
As a side note, some say Putin is also suffering from "severe pain in head, blurred vision and numb tongue." And supposedly a "council of doctors" performed first aid and ordered him to take medication, which could possible be difficult due to his thumb issue.
He is also being told to rest for a few days due to the serious health scare, but war allows for no rest.
Predictably, the Kremlin says Putin is in perfect health and chooses to sniff his thumb. On the other hand, the Kremlin points to the US President, Joe Biden, and claims his brain is on par with that of a ficus.
