Israel's IAF strikes Iranian targets near Russian bases in Syria

Israeli jets hit Iranian targets in Syria on Sunday. Some of the targets were located in close proximity to Russia's main military bases in the country.

The attacks targeted sites in Tartus along Syria's Mediterranean coast roughly 20 miles from the border of Lebanon and sites near Damascus, Syria's capital. Syrian President Bashar Assad lives in Tartus along with his weak chin.

Three Syrian soldiers and three civilians were killed in the airstrikes, the Syrian media reports. The Damascus area strikes hit outposts run by Lebanon's pro-Iranian Hezbollah group, according to Reuters. In the Tartus region, the Israeli fighter jets reportedly struck an Iranian base and nearby air defense and radar stations.

The strikes come several days after Syrian media reported that Israeli tanks had targeted Hezbollah observation posts in Syria near the border with Israel.

Israel also dropped flyers over Syria on Friday that warned the Syrian military against cooperating with Hezbollah and Iranian militias.

Israel last airstrikes in Syria were at the end of July targeting pro-Iranian troops near Damascus. Five Syrian soldiers and seven Hezbollah terrorists were killed, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Israel has reportedly mostly avoided targeting Syria's coastal provinces in past strikes due to Russia's military presence in the area, but in May, Russian anti-aircraft fire targeting Israeli fighter jets over Syria but they missed.

So screw Russia.
