Georgia State Patrol executed a pursuit intervention technique (PIT) maneuver on Tuesday along the freeway in a chase against the suspect who allegedly shot and killed at least eight people in and around Atlanta in three deadly shootings.
It's unknown if the shootings were racially motivated.
Crisp County officials took the alleged shooter into custody around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, about 30 minutes after the county became aware of his location. He has been charged with murder.
"It is extremely likely our suspect is the same as Cherokee County’s," Atlanta police spokesman Sgt. John Chafee said based on video evidence of the three shootings.
Police said video showed the alleged shooter's SUV in the area of the Atlanta spas around the time of the incidents after it was seen pulling up to the Ackworth spa.
The alleged shooter, 21, was taken into custody without incident, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was caught driving south on Interstate 75 in Crisp County when his car was made to spin out from the PIT maneuver.
The PIT maneuver, which "caused the vehicle to spin out of control," according to Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock, is often deployed to end pursuits.
The first shooting occurred around 5 p.m. at Young's Asian Massage in the town of Ackworth in Cherokee County. Five people were shot, two died on scene and three were taken to a hospital where they later died.

Within an hour after the Ackworth shooting, police were called in northeast Atlanta in the Buckhead neighborhood for a robbery in progress. When they arrived, they found three women dead from gunshot wounds at the Gold Spa.
While at Gold Spa, police received a call of shots fired at another spa across the street, Aromatherapy Spa, and found a woman who appeared to have been shot dead inside the business.

Six of the eight victims were Asian women, but it's too soon to know if the shootings were racially motivated. However, anti-Asian crimes in the U.S. have spiked and the investigation will be considering this possibility.
South Korea's Foreign Ministry said in a statement Wednesday that at least four of the women were of Korean descent.
