Baltimore State AG Marilyn Mosby sees a softer side to crime that should not be punished

Mosby angry over something

Baltimore State Attorney General Marilyn Mosby announced the city is going to take a more gentle, less punitive approach to crime and no longer prosecute certain criminals for "low level" crimes like drug possession, prostitution, minor traffic offenses, and other "quality of life" crimes she finds less offensive.

The chronically angry Mosby had previously said the policy as a temporary measure supposedly designed to stem the flow of COVID-19 among cops and prison populations, and to also make Baltimore a more interesting place to survive. But now she claimed at a Friday press conference that the policy had served to lower violent crime in the city and proved that her vision of "criminal justice reform" worked. Thus, the policy is now permanent.

Perhaps if she criminalizes crime, the crime rate will drop even further. She claims that violent crime and property crime has decreased significantly, but that's more likely due to the decrease in arrests.

In fact, the idea of defunding the police would show a similar drop in crime for that same reason, while criminals would make the streets look like a bad day in Metropolis.

But while the homicide rate is hard to fix [aka fudge], they fell only slightly from 2019 and that was an all-time high year for that statistic.

There should be no doubt about Mosby's feelings about the police in her city and in the nation. She has been a frequent and public critic of Baltimore police. But now she has claimed the police force was on board with her program of decriminalizing crime.

"Our understanding is that the police are going to follow what they've been doing for the past year, which is not arresting people based on the offenses I mentioned." She also claimed that police will work with a local non-profit to help Baltimore residents find help for problems like addiction to drugs, homelessness, window smashing, looting and gentle requesting of financial assistance from street donors.

Mosby's husband, Nick Mosby, is president of the Baltimore City Council, and the couple is widely believed to have higher political ambitions which do not exclude leaders of the world. That is, if they can successfully fight the charges leveled against them in a federal criminal investigation that has been opened by the United States Attorney's Office regarding the couple's finances.

The government is reportedly investigating alleged tax and campaign finance improprieties and have huddled with Maxine Waters who they view as their mentor and financial guru.

Mosby was asked questions about the federal investigation during her press conference, but according to NBC News, she refused to answer those questions, preferring instead to discuss her new policies.

She was not led out in handcuffs and plans to decriminalize tax and campaign fraud in her proposed "green" new deal.
