Mollie Tibbetts' accused murderer pleads not guilty

Cristhian Rivera, 24, is accused of killing Mollie Tibbetts, the 20-year-old University of Iowa student. He pleaded not guilty to murder charges at his arraignment hearing on Wednesday.

Now the country is hoping that President Trump doesn't tweet about it so that the defendant will not use the "Trump Defense" ploy to lessen the penalty if found guilty.

Rivera was arrested on August 21st after the body of Tibbetts was discovered in a cornfield about 12 miles southeast of Brooklyn, Iowa.

Mollie was last seen jogging in Brooklyn on July 18th and the media was all over the story.

The prosecution alleges that the illegal alien, a Mexican national, abducted the young lady while she was out for an evening run, killed her and dumped her body in a secluded location. The preliminary autopsy last month revealed that Tibbetts was the victim of a homicide and died from "multiple sharp force injuries."

Rivera had been a farm worker in the area and had been living in the U.S. illegally for years.
