Calif. profs angry at cops

Leftist professors are angry at Berkeley cops for posting mugshots of fellow leftist Antifa protesters arrested Sunday at a rally. Windows were smashed, bystanders were punched along with counter-protesters [aka: Americans] and "dozens of weapons" were confiscated by police.

Berkeley cops said that 20 [Antifa] scumwafers were arrested as they demonstrated against so-called "alt-right" groups. The cops released mugshots along with their names and why they were arrested was posted on the Berkeley Police Department's Twitter account--a normal practice by the department.

The mugshots were posted prior to formal charges being levied.

Veena Dubal, a so-called law professor at the University of California, found it "disturbing" that the police department would post the mugshots and risk the possibility of putting the demonstrators in danger.

That was only supposed to happen to ICE agents and gun owners.

"This is very disturbing," Dubal told The Guardian. "It seems like a public-shaming exercise, which is not the role of the police department. ...They are making it really accessible for folks who might wish these people harm to locate them.?

Actually, it might be the other way around--if the public gets to see what these weaponized miscreants look like, they may be able to avoid them.

Berkeley Mayor Jesse ArreguĂn said the cops "did a very good job" in the way they handled the rally, but added that he spoke with the police about the posting of mugshots on social media.

Sorry--if posting a photo in the media of Harvey Weinstein is okay, it's also okay to post mugshots of people arrested for violence.

"We need to look into this and discuss whether this is an appropriate practice going forward," the mayor said.

The protest began after two groups of protesters announced plans for a "No to Marxism" rally at the city's Civic Center Park earlier this week. That prompted the Marxist Antifa fascist group to plan a "Sweep Out the Fascists" march and counter-rally that drew hundreds of leftists.

According to officials, three people suffered minor injuries after a group of "extremists" [aka: Antifa fascists] threw "explosives"--likely fireworks and flares--at police and Alameda County Sheriff's officers. No law enforcement members were hurt.

"An extremist element among a large group" damaged 21 city vehicles, setting one on fire, and slashed their tires, according to Berkeley police.

The Antifa fascists also set fires in trash bins which were quickly extinguished.

Masked Antifa cowards were caught on video smashing the windows of a United States Marine Corps recruiting office and another coward sucker-punched someone.

Jay Kim, executive director of the National Lawyers Guild local chapter and a likely flaming leftist said he felt police were targeting "anti-fascist protesters," who actually are not anti-fascist but ironically are fascists themselves.

It's good to feel Jay. It makes you who you are.

"It really seemed to us like the Berkeley police department was there to . . . target the anti-fascist protesters," Kim whined. He said about 21 people contacted the NLG regarding the arrests, and claimed the "vast majority" arrested were Antifa fascists.

Well duh! They're the ones who usually start trouble.

Berkeley Police Department spokesman Byron White defended the mugshot posting. "People are coming from out of town and bringing weapons and are committed to violence... We don't want people to do that with anonymity," he said.

If just one mugshot saves one life, then it's worth it.
