Israel to name new train station near Jerusalem after Trump

Israel's transportation minister is going forward with a plan to extend Jerusalem's soon-to-open high speed rail line to the Western Wall and he wants to name a future station after President Trump.

"The Western Wall is the holiest place for the Jewish people, and I decided to name the train station that leads to it after President Trump--following his historic and brave decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel," Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz told the Jerusalem Post

The Post a national daily newspaper, was the first to report Tuesday that Katz had approved final construction plans for the train, which will require excavating a 2-mile tunnel from the Umma (nation) station at the entrance to the city of Cardo in the Jewish Quarter.

The route will carry passengers through downtown Jerusalem and under the Old City.

Transportation Ministry spokesman Avner Ovadia aid the project is estimated to cost over $700 million, which means it will cost over $800 million. It will take four years to complete.

Trump's decision to move the embassy to Jerusalem, something that three former president's promised but failed to deliver, has caused Palestinians and Muslims throughout the world to have something else to be angry over.
