Trump says Dem rep 'fabricated' account of his call to soldier's widow

A Democratic rep in a silly cowboy hat claims that President Trump told the wife of a U.S. soldier killed in Niger that "he knew what he signed up for." The president not only denies it, but says that he has 'proof' the congresswoman is lying through her hat.

Trump tweeted that Rep. Frederica Wilson (D-Fla.) "totally fabricated what I said to the wife of a soldier who had died in action (and I have proof). Sad!"

Army Sgt. La David Johnson was one of four soldiers killed in an ambush last week in northwest Africa.

Wilson told a local news outlet that President Trump said, during a five-minute phone conversation to the soldier's widow, Myeshia Johnson, that her husband "knew what he signed up for . . . but when it happens, it hurts anyway." She said Trump's words were insensitive.

Wilson spoke  to CNN on Wednesday saying she and Johnson family members heard what the president said because the call was put on a speakerphone. "I have proof too," she said.

The White House separately told Local 10 News that the president's conversations "with families of American heroes who have made the ultimate sacrifice are private."

Sgt. Johnson was killed during a Green Beret mission in Niger. Muslim militants ambushed them on Oct. 4th with grenades and automatic weapons fire.

Trump was initially criticized for lack of focus on the deadly attacks, but let's face it, he's criticized for the way he combs his hair. The Defense Department has reportedly launched an investigation into the ambush, according to the New York Daily News.

The Democrats will say anything they can get away with against the president and are losing credibility with independent thinkers.
