Tulare, S.D. -- When you're a stupid thief it's rarely your day.
Troy James, the idiot in question, called for assistance Monday at around 4 a.m. on Highway 281 near Tulare. He said his car apparently ran out of fuel and Sheriff Kevin Schurch responded to the call.
Schurch said James was acting bizarrely and apparently had a gun. He pushed Schurch out of the squad car and took off.
As is his wont, he didn't check the fuel gauge and ran out of gas about140 miles down the road where he was caught.
His is currently being held in the idiot ward where he rocks back and forth and hits his head into the wall mumbling incoherently.
