Mexico: Arrest made in US consulate official shooting

Guadalajara -- The unnamed alleged shooter of the unnamed U.S. Consulate official was arrested by a special law enforcement unit, according to the AP who cited Jalisco state prosecutors.

The U.S. official was injured as he was pulling out of a parking garage when the shooter opened fire then ran away.

No motive for the incident was given, but somehow it feels like someone is going to blame Donald Trump.

The U.S. Embassy in Mexico City said that no further information would be made available about the victim for privacy concerns. He is in the hospital under security protection.

"The safety and security of our employees overseas is among our highest priorities," said an embassy spokeswoman who obviously didn't know that Mexico is not overseas.

"We are working closely with Mexican law enforcement in this matter," she added.

The FBI had posted a $20,000 reward for information on the attacker, but it isn't immediately known if that reward is going to be claimed.
