Iraqi forces entering Mosul

Iraqi special forces have finally entered the edge of Mosul and commandeered the state television building meeting stiff scumcrumpet resistance trying to maintain their hold on what they consider to be their caliphate.

The elite forces known as Golden  Brigade fought in the streets with ISIS jihadists inside Mosul's eastern Gogjali quarter.

This is the first time in over two years that Iraqi fighters set foot in the 'city that never sweeps'. Soon the fighting will go house-to-house in urban areas and this will take a number of weeks to accomplish. It is by far, the most dangerous type of combat.

Mosul is the last stand for ISIS in Iraq. In 2014 they drove out a larger, somewhat pussified Iraqi army, and declared the area a "caliphate" that stretched into Syria. If ISIS loses, and it looks like they will, it will be a major defeat for them. However, the Iraqi troops are still 6 miles away, and there is a lot of work to do in order to get there.
