Bunnies Lives Matter

Sarasota, Fla. -- A Florida man, Manasseh Walker, 22, is charged with setting Thumper, his pet bunny on fire last month after the little guy allegedly bit Walker on his widdle finger.

The Brandenton Herald reported that he was seen chasing his burning bunny claiming it bit him on the finger as Thumper hopped aglow and in obvious pain.

Walker is being charged with animal cruelty but his attorney is claiming that his client was planning a get together with his girlfriend and they were merely cooking Thumper as the main course.

Authorities were not amused.

The Sarasota Sheriff's office tweeted an appeal to find Walker, using the hashtag #JusticeForThumper and posting photos of the flamed-out bunny. Walker was arrested in Punta Gorda after he was captured on his way to the Everglades where he would have been hunted like a dog by authorities.

The local PETA office (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) spokesman, Skippy Phydeaux said, "People like Walker shouldn't be allowed to roam free. He should be put on a short leash and made to beg. In fact, no, he should be beaten until he acknowledges what he has done and then should be repeatedly hit with a rolled up newspaper or a computer monitor with an online newspaper displayed. Or maybe put to sleep.

Happily, Thumper's going to make it and be hop hop hopping on his way.
