Trump Attacks Federal Judge: pulls the "Mexican Card"

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump is currently involved in a fraud investigation against Trump University.

The judge in the case is federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel. He was born in Indiana to Mexican immigrants and in an interview, Trump said the judge had "an absolute conflict" in presiding over the case due to his "Mexican heritage" and a member of a Latino lawyers' association.

Donald said the judge's background was relevant because of his campaign stance against illegal immigration and his pledge to seal the southern U.S. border. "I'm building a wall. It's an inherent conflict of interest," Trump said.

Trump also claimed the judge was a former colleague and friend of one of the plaintiff lawyers on the Trump University case, but the lawyer, Jason Forge, said he never saw the judge socially.

Forge said, "Neither Judge Curiel's ethnicity nor the fact that we crossed paths as prosecutors in the U.S. Attorney's Office well over a decade ago is to blame" for Trump's actions. The judge himself, is not permitted to comment on the matter.

Criticizing a judge because of his ethnicity by a person who is the presumptive GOP nominee for president is an embarrassment to the party.

Stephen Burbank, a University of Pennsylvania law professor said that it was "absolute nonsense" that Curiel shouldn't be able to preside over a case because of his ethnicity, and anyone with a brain would have to agree.

Imagine how many judges would have to recuse themselves due to their ethnic backgrounds. What, an Irish judge couldn't preside over a case involving a British defendant?

It's crazy.

Burbank went on: "If this continues, I would hope that some prominent federal judges would set Mr. Trump straight on what's appropriate and what's not in our democracy," and I don't know where Professor Burbank stands politically, but I agree with him.

Trump screwed up but I don't know if it will matter with his fervent supporters. Like Hillary, whose supporters say they would continue to support her even if she's indicted for the personal email server, Donald Trump supporters would still support him even if he shot someone on Broadway.

And that's what scares me about what's happening to this country.

This isn't "Family Feud" folks. This is as serious as a python in your toilet.
