Cop wounded on his 4 anniversary on the job

It's going to be difficult for NYC Mayor Bill DiBlasio to use it as a Black Lives Matter argument (and blame the cop first and ask questions later) because the plainclothes anti-crime cop was shot first and returned fire by a suspect who had been released from court merely hours before the shooting incident.

Officer Sherrod Stuart, 25, along with his partner, were in an area of New York City nicknamed "the Alamo." If you think Afghanistan is dangerous, and it is, the Alamo is definitely on par with it.

The officers were responding to a report of street fighting with guns, bats and knives when they spotted the suspect and pursued him.

Just when backup arrived, a gunfight erupted and Stuart was shot in the right foot. He returned fire and hit the suspect, Christopher Rice, 19, four times.

This all took place on Stuart's fourth year on the job with the NYPD.

Officer Stuart is in stable condition at Lincoln Hospital and Rice, not doing so well--he's in serious condition at Lincoln as well.

Scumcrumpet Rice has five prior arrests, the latest for fare beating. But this time he was arrested in possession of a gun and shooting a police officer along with the street violence that got the NYPD to respond.

Rather than stepping all over the Second Amendment, people like Rice should spend significant time in prison. Get guns off the street that belong to people who use them illegally, not from people who are law-abiding.

That criminal in jail should be the person representing Obama's "empty chair" at the SOTU address tomorrow, but you know that won't be the case.
