According to Bloomberg News, Americans living abroad are renouncing their US citizenship in record numbers. In fact, there has been an 18% increase thus far in 2015, amounting to 1335 expatriations, the report claims.
The big reason for renouncing citizenship?
Laws requiring expanded bank reporting and new tax compliance requirements are making it difficult for Americans living abroad to accept the idea that they should pay Uncle Sam for the "no representation" they receive.
In 2014, there were 3415 Americans who gave up their American citizenship, and this year the country is on a record run to beat that figure.
At least the Obama administration can say they hold the record for the number of people giving up their American roots.
Somehow I believe it doesn't bother our POTUS in the least. After all, it leaves room for more illegal aliens to put down roots here, vote Democratic and run this country into a ditch.
