A little over an hour ago the Islamic State terrorists released a video showing Steven Sotloff, the second American journalist, being beheaded. It came with the warning that as long as President Barack Hussein Obama continues with U.S. airstrikes, "our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people." That, by the way, is a very Koranic way to put it.
Barak Barfi, speaking on behalf of the Sotloff family, confirmed that this was, indeed, Steven Sotloff.
You may remember when last week, the victim's mother, Shirley Sotloff, pleading with ISIS to spare her son as he has nothing to do with U.S. policy in the region. The disgusting savages killed Steven in spite of that video.
Sotloff was only 31 and freelanced for Time and Foreign Policy magazines. He went missing in Syria a little over a year ago and was not seen until a video was released last month showing the James Foley beheading. In that video, Steven was threatened with death unless Obama stopped airstrikes on ISIS in Iraq.
Today's video was called "A Second Message to America." ISIS has also threatened to kill another hostage, ostensibly identified as a British citizen named David Cawthorne Haines. It is not clear as yet just who Haines is, but I suspect we will find out.
Meanwhile, Jen Psaki, State Department spokesperson whose native American name is "Dances Around Questions" said U.S. intelligence "will work as quickly as possible" to check on the video's authenticity. Maybe they should just ask Sotloff's mother--a mother knows.
"If the video is genuine, we are sickened by this brutal act, taking the life of another innocent American citizen," she said. "Our hearts go out to the Sotloff family and we will provide more information as it becomes available."
What exactly does it mean when you say, "our hearts go out to blah blah blah?" Go out of what?
The Islamic scumbag on the video said, "I'm back, Obama, and I'm back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State . . . despite our serious warnings. So just as your missiles continue to strike our people, our knife will continue to strike the necks of your people."
The ISIS has been brutalizing people under their leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi since 2010. Obama has had four years to assess the threat and came up with comparing them to a junior varsity team of wannabees.
It isn't surprising his analysis was wrong since he is a jayvee president.
