CORRECTION: Nashville Christian School Shooter was a Woman

So it turns out that the shooter at the Nashville Covenant school, who murdered Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9, Hallie Scruggs, 9, William Kinney, 9, Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61, was not a woman as previously believed but a 28-year-old man with gender dysphoria whose name will not be revealed on this blog.

As you can see from my previous post, the victims were not all women as previously believed, since Mr. Hill, William Kinney, and the shooter were males. The shooter had been a former student at the Presbyterian school.

One of the victims: Hallie Scruggs with Daddy

CORRECTION: This post originally described the shooter as a dysphoric man, not a woman due to the misreporting of the press, but the latest information states that she was a woman. So please disregard the statement made below. It is extremely rare for a woman to commit a mass shooting as happened in Nashville, thus it was easy to assume the media was originally correct about her gender.

The shooter fired through a locked door to gain entry while armed with two semi automatic rifles and a handgun. He then went up to the second floor and began his shooting spree.

Two Nashville police officers entered the school and went to the sounds of gunfire, because that's what most cops do, unless they work for former Sheriff Scott Israel of Broward County infamy. The duo shot the killer at around 10:27 a.m. the police reported.

The shooter's home address is about three miles away from the Covenant School, according to public records. The FBI, ATF, and local police cordoned off that home with crime scene tape on Monday afternoon.

Investigators found a "manifesto" by the shooter and other writings that they are looking into as they search for a motive beyond his obvious mental illness of gender dysphoria.

The shooter's LinkedIn profile and personal website that appeared to be affiliated with him describes him as a graphic designer and who graduated from Nossi College of Art with a degree in illustration and graphic design.

Female mass shooters are very rare in the USA, according to FBI data, and this shooting was no exception. My first reaction to the shooting before knowing it was a man with gender dysphoria was one of surprise, but knowing it was a man classified as a "transgender woman" it no longer surprising. In fact, it's just further evidence that only two genders exist and you can't go from one to the other just by cutting off body parts and/or thinking you're the other gender.

This story is incredibly sad. The death of any child is sad, but to have a child taken from us with violence is heartbreaking. But the left wasted no time calling for more gun control legislation, as if that would have prevented this from happening. Pro tip: it would not.

Let's just pray for those souls this guy took from their loved ones, and for the mothers, fathers and siblings of the children who were killed.

DeSantis' office blasts Democrat Sheriff who cannot suck enough at his job

Republican Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' office made a Democrat Texas sheriff sound like a Biden administration wannabe and a total scumcrumpet.

The Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar announced at a press conference, in front of cameras that likely needed polarizing lens filters to reduce the shine from his bald head, that he was opening an investigation into the 50 illegal immigrants that were sheltered, fed and who had volunteered to go to Martha's Vineyard last week.

Salazar said that he was "bother[ed]" by the flights “and so we are absolutely opening up an investigation into this,” in the hope of scoring political points with the left. In other words, he has a person who did what he doesn't like and so he's going to look for a crime. This is the opposite of what his job entails so you can imagine how good a sheriff he must be. In fact, it was his county where over 50 migrants died inside a truck carriage and instead of investigating the deaths, he simply blamed it on the GOP.

Salazar seems reminiscent of former Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, an incompetent coward who mishandled the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in November 2018. Both of these sheriffs are obviously more interested in political opportunities than with actual law enforcement.

Salazar even admitted that he could not name a single law that was broken and could not identify even one suspect. So he has a person and is looking to dump a crime on that person, much like NY Attorney General Letitia James wants to do with former President Trump.

A spokesperson for DeSantis responded to Salazar’s  political remarks by saying in a statement: “Immigrants have been more than willing to leave Bexar County after being abandoned, homeless, and ‘left to fend for themselves.'”

“Florida gave them an opportunity to seek greener pastures in a sanctuary jurisdiction that offered greater resources for them, as we expected,” the spokesperson continued. “Unless the MA national guard has abandoned these individuals, they have been provided accommodations, sustenance, clothing and more options to succeed following their unfair enticement into the United States, unlike the 53 immigrants who died in a truck found abandoned in Bexar County this June.”

Gov. DeSantis told the press that the people who were contracted to relocate the illegal immigrants to a "sanctuary" location, provided them with a release form to sign and a packet that included a map of Marth's Vineyard and information in Spanish and English. “So it was obvious that that’s where they were going and they gave that to them,” DeSantis added.

The information DeSantis provided was confirmed by Florida's Voice as they had obtained the brochures the illegal immigrants were given before the air conditioned jet flight to Martha's Vineyard.

Florida’s Voice said that the brochure contained information “directly from the Massachusetts government website.”

Whatever happened to Sheriff Scott Israel after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas HS shooting?

Remember Democratic Sheriff Scott Israel? He was the guy in charge of the inept crew of Scot Peterson and at least two other deputies who did not enter the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School when Nikolas Cruz went on a shooting rampage, leaving 17 people dead on February 14, 2018. He was also criticized for not taking control in the aftermath of the Fort Lauderdale shooting in the previous year where 6 people were killed and 6 were injured.

It was Scott Israel who admittedly rewrote the Broward Sheriff's Office active shooter policy on active shooters, which originally stated that law enforcement "shall" go in after the shooter, to "may" go in after the shooter. This rewritten shooter policy which was in effect the day of the shooting had not been brought to the public's attention until the commission meeting on November 15, 2018.

Israel was elected as the 16th Sheriff of Broward County, FL from 2013 until his suspension on January 11, 2019.

He first became a patrol officer for the Fort Lauderdale PD in 1979. In the subsequent decade he was investigated for 10 incidents by the Fort Lauderdale Police Department Internal Affairs division. There were 6 accusations of "excessive or unnecessary force", shooting at a drug suspect, and using profanity. He was cleared of wrongdoing, however, records of five of these investigations indicate two of the more serious incidents, which involved allegations of false arrest and theft, were subsequently reported to miraculously missing from the city records.

After the high school shootings in May 2018, the Broward Sheriff's Office Deputies Association paid for a billboard on Interstate 95 appealing for then- Governor Rick Scott and referencing their vote regarding Israel with the words: "There is no confidence in Sheriff Israel." They called for his removal.

Israel interviewed with CNN's Jake Tapper about the incident. You can read the whole transcript here.

On January 11, 2019, Gov. Ron DeSantis officially suspended him and appointed Gregory Tony as his successor.

So where is Scott Israel now?

Scott Israel was eventually hired by the Davie Police Department as a traffic infraction enforcement officer. His salary is $65,000 a year, and now he is responsible for reviewing video footage of red light cameras.

This full-time job has the former Sheriff looking at the city's five red light cameras and appearing in court if anyone challenges a ticket for running a red light. While the job was posted and three people applied, only Israel was interviewed and this sounds scandalous.

Hopefully Scott Israel will handle this job better than the one he had as Sheriff.

Florida court rules against Israel

The Florida Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) had the right to suspend Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel (D) over his handling of two mass shootings and his total ineptness.

DeSantis suspended Israel after shootings at the Fort Lauderdale airport and Marjory Stoneman High School in Parkland, Fla. because he believes that Scott Israel doesn't have the capacity to be a dog catcher, much less an actual sheriff.

The Republican-held state Senate could also reinstate Israel. If it does not, he will have to run for the job again in 2020, according to the South Florida Sun Sentinel. And should he run and win back the position, the people who voted for him, deserve what they get.

“I hope and expect the Senate will look at the merits of the claim,” Israel’s lawyer Ben Kuehne told the newspaper. “If they do, and do not act politically, then Sheriff Israel will be reinstated.”

It's ironic that Kuehne talks about people acting politically--that's all the Scott Israel ever did on the job.

DeSantis said on Twitter that the court's decision reaffirmed his authority to suspend a poorly performing official, [not to mention the worst sheriff ever.]

"Today's @flcourts opinion leaves no doubt of my authority to suspend a government official for neglect of duty and incompetence," DeSantis tweeted. "Scott Israel failed to protect the families and students of Broward County and I look forward to the @FLSenate resuming the process of formal removal."

An independent commission found that the sheriff's office did not adequately change its policy following the Fort Lauderdale incident that left five people dead, which caused more fatalities in the Parkland shooting, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Last year, a gunman killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. In 2017, five were killed in a shooting at the airport, all while Sheriff Scott Israel was scratching his nether regions.

Scott Israel claims his incompetence 'Is all about politics'

Some people just cannot accept how totally incompetent they are and pull the victimhood tissue to wipe their tears.

Following his suspension by newly elected Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel vowed to take legal action because he's actually too incompetent to know that he's incompetent. Worse, he's an arrogant a**hole and is more politically motivated than the Democrats rejecting the border wall.

Despite reports and investigations showing numerous flaws that led to more deaths at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Feb. 14, 2018, Israel proclaimed his suspension was “about politics.”

No, weasel whisperer, it's about how kids died because of your incompetence and because your department was too cowardly to do what they are paid to do.

"This suspension is not about what occurred on February 14th,” Israel claimed. “The governor promised as a candidate – well before he had any facts of the investigation, well before the commission even began their work – that he would remove me from office. Today, he merely fulfilled a campaign promise. This was about politics, not about Parkland."

Actually, there was a boat load of facts simply from the video of the shooting in Parkland.

Israel went on to say no one from DeSantis’ staff nor the governor himself spoke to Israel about what happened in Parkland, and that the governor was carrying out the will of the National Rifle Association (NRA), of which he offered no facts.

He also suggested that suspending him was an “easy” way to ignore the real problem, which is gun violence in America--which would have been minimized had the police gone into the school to neutralize the shooter with their own guns, rather than hiding behind a structure until the coast was clear. Police from a nearby town came rushing in and dealt with the situation the way they are supposed to and the shooting ended.
Scot Peterson hiding behind building
as shots ring out and kids die

The other real problem for Israel is that the investigation and commission he spoke about found that his department’s active shooter training was ineffective, though they did not recommend suspending Israel.

Beside the fact that his department had information about the shooter after they received two calls – one in 2016 and one in 2017 – warning that the shooter was a potential school shooter. The department also had 20 previous contacts with the shooter relating to arguments with his now-deceased mother.

Israel was also criticized in the report for changing his department’s policy from saying officers “shall” confront active shooters to saying they “may” confront them, implying that if their nail polish was still wet, they could wait it out. Specifically, I'm talking only about Scot Peterson, the deputy who hid outside while the shooting was going on inside the school. In no way do I intend to discredit women--they would have gone in faster than his men.

In his statement announcing Israel’s suspension, Gov. DeSantis said the sheriff “has repeatedly failed and has demonstrated a pattern of poor leadership," but as a liberal Democrat, he felt he was doing the right thing.

"These incidents demonstrate Sheriff’s Israel’s repeated incompetence and neglect of duty," DeSantis’ executive order removing Israel said. "The families of the victims deserve accountability. It is my job as Governor to ensure that the safety of our local communities, especially the safety of our children, is paramount. Government officials must be held accountable for their actions, and/or inactions. For these reasons, I am suspending Sheriff Israel from office effective immediately.”

Seventeen people were killed in the Parkland school shooting because Broward County deputies failed to do their jobs. Sheriff Israel repeatedly defended their actions and his own when asked about the failures by the investigating commission, proving his incompetence and inability to serve and protect his community.

Scott Israel is probably the worst sheriff ever to strap on whatever it is he straps on.

It's a new year and the world still hasn't come to an end with President Trump in the White House, in spite of what the media and the left [but I repeat myself] would have you believe.

Parkland shooter was assigned to Obama-era program and Superintendent lied

Local Florida media reported Sunday night that the school shooter of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School was assigned to a useless Obama-era disciplinary program. The superintendent of the Broward County Public Schools denied several times that the program even existed, proving that both Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and school leadership are useless and dishonest.

WLRN reported:
Two sources with knowledge of [the shooter's] discipline records told WLRN he was referred to the so-called PROMISE Program for a three-day stint after committing vandalism at Westglades Middle School in 2013.
The PROMISE Program was implemented in the Broward County Public Schools in 2013 under the direction of then-Superintendent Robert W. Runcie at the urging of the Obama administration. The purpose of the program was to reduce the number of minority students who ended up in prison for crimes they committed on campus. In other words, it was Obama's way of making campuses "safe spaces" for criminals to commit crimes without having to sweat jail time.

Ben Shapiro of The Daily Wire, wrote that Broward County Public Schools "had rewritten its disciplinary policies to make it nearly impossible to suspend, expel, or arrest students for behavioral problems including criminal activity."

Safe spaces for poor, misunderstood, victims of the system who may have shot one or two folks, but that's because of society. Yeah, sure.

School district spokeswoman Tracy Clark confirmed to WLRN that administrators in the district were analyzing the shooter's records and confirmed that he had been referred to PROMISE after the scumwafer vandalized a bathroom at the middle school shortly after the program was implemented in 2013.

But it isn't clear whether the shooter even attended the program as WLRN noted:
Clark said he appeared at Pine Ridge Education Center in Fort Lauderdale--an alternative school facility where PROMISE is housed--for an intake interview the day after the vandalism incident.
"It does not appear that [the shooter] completed the recommended three-day assignment/placement," Clark told the radio station, but wouldn't "speculate" on the reason why.

The radio station added that the [useless] Broward County Sheriff's Office previously said the shooter never attended the program.

"The school board reports that there was no PROMISE program participation," Jack Dale the BSO representative said.

Parkland residents impacted by the shooting called for Runcie's removal.

A billboard in honor of Sheriff Scott Israel's 'no confidence' vote by his peers

Scott Israel, the incompetent sheriff of Broward County, Florida, is being hounded by his deputies after a "no confidence" vote and now a billboard on Interstate 95.

Lest he forget.

"Governor Scott: There is no confidence in Sheriff Israel" the sign reads. It was paid for by the International Union of Police Associations 620 Deputy Union.

Of the 628 Broward Sheriff's Office Deputies Association members, 534 of them voted in April that they have "no confidence" in the slimeball.

Israel, whose name is an embarrassment to a country I love and respect, faced backlash after the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14th in which 17 people were killed. Of these, 14 were students and of the students who survived the massacre, all of them who oppose the Second Amendment have been deemed experts on gun control.

But back to Scott Israel.

Israel's department was criticized nationally in the way they handled the shooting as it unfolded. One deputy was too scared to enter the school and save lives and waited outside as the shooter picked of students and staff one-by-one.

Worse than that, his department had been called to the shooter's home on many, many occasions over the past several years but did not arrest him.

The shooter himself posted on a YouTube site that he wished to become a "professional school shooter" and the FBI was informed but still nothing was done about it.

And the shooter had been a mental health patient in the past and was deemed to not be a danger to self or others.

Israel responded to the no confidence vote by accusing union president Jeff Bell and the union of trying "to use the Parkland tragedy as a bargaining tactic to extort a 6.5 percent raise."

What a scum wafer Israel is--he has no self awareness and refuses to take any responsibility for his department's total mishandling of this case.

"We are going to continue to speak out loud and make sure our voice is heard," Bell said in response to the idiot sheriff. "It's a strong message to put it right in front of Rick Scott of how serious we are."

The billboard will remain up for a month and Bell's next move, he said, will be to present the vote to Gov. Rick Scott. Hopefully he will suspend Israel and ask him to "please make change and replace the sheriff with somebody who is capable of amazing leadership."

Compared to Scott Israel, anyone would make a better choice.

To deputies: 'Don't go into school without body cams'

Laura Ingraham of Fox News, said Monday in an exclusive report that the Broward County deputies were ordered not to to into the Stoneman Douglas High School to confront the shooter as he killed 17 people, mostly students on Valentine's Day.

The reason they were told to stand down was due to them not wearing body cameras.

It sounds as if Sheriff Israel was concerned that if they shot the shooter without photographic proof that they did the right thing, his buddies on the left would blame the department for an unjustified use of lethal force.

"Now, our sources near the Broward County sheriff's department are telling us that the deputies who arrived at the scene of the shooting were told not to enter the school unless their body cameras were turned on, and then we found out that the deputies did not have body cameras so they did not enter the building or engage the shooter," Ingraham said.

"Curiously, police also lost radio communications during the Parkland shooting. And our source claims that radio communication also went dead during the Fort Lauderdale airport shooting in 2017 that he also go a lot of criticism for," she added.

Ms. Ingraham didn't say who issued the order not to go into the school, but I suspect if we investigated deeply, we'd find that Sheriff Israel, the vile, arrogant leftist political wannabe, had something to do with it.

Tipster to FBI: 'I know he's going to explode'

It isn't known what a tipster has to do to get law enforcement to take action. Maybe tipsters need to have photographic or video evidence before the police or FBI take them seriously, and unfortunately, that wasn't the case in the Valentine's Day shooting spree in Parkland, Florida, and the warnings were definitely not subtle.

"I know he's going to explode," a woman who knew the shooter said on the FBI's tip line on January 5. She feared that he might try slipping "into a school and just start shooting the place up."

Forty days after the tip, the 19-year-old shooter and former student of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School did just that, killing 17 people.

But even before that tip, another tipster, three months before the massacre, called the Palm Beach County sheriff's office. This person, a family friend, dialed 911 and said, "I need someone here because I'm afraid he comes back and he has a lot of weapons."

You can see the transcript with the family member and judge for yourself just how law enforcement handled the case.

The shooter himself called authorities soon after Thanksgiving to say he had been in a fight and was struggling over the death of his mother. "The thing is I lost my mother a couple of weeks ago, so like I m dealing with a bunch of things right now," he said in a childlike voice that was agitated and breathless.

Then there were tip-offs to the FBI about disturbing social media posts that weren't enough to motivate the agency to intervene.

Then there were visits by a child welfare agency to his home in which the social worker deemed him not to be a danger to himself or others. So nothing was done and they dropped the proverbial ball.

Then there were dozens of calls to 911 and local law enforcement, some saying that he was capable of violence. But that didn't stir up any movement on the part of the Broward County Sheriff's Office.

But the Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, who knew about the shooter and the fact that at the very least, the officer responsible for protecting the students failed miserably to do so because he hid safely outside the building while the shooter killed people, blames the problem on the NRA.

Blame Broward Sheriff, FBI and cowardly cops--not the NRA

The shooting rampage at the Parkland, Florida school is the worst failure of law enforcement in American history as far as I can tell.

Coral Springs police, who responded to the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, say several Broward sheriff's deputies waited outside the building while the gunman kept shooting and killing students, rather than doing their job!

In all, 17 people were killed by the mentally deranged 19-year-old whose name will no longer be written herein.

The Broward Sheriff Scott Israel knew about at least one cop who was hidden behind a barrier outside the school while the shooting took place, but instead, Israel blamed the NRA, an organization that wasn't there and aren't responsible for the protection of those students.

What nonsense.

In fact, in the Texas church shooting, an NRA instructor, who is a civilian, was there and went after the shooter, unlike Scot Peterson and the other deputies who hid outside.

In fact, it was an AR-15 that saved lives that day.

Peterson was suspended by Scott Israel, not fired, but he resigned in shame.

The Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that according to police sources at least three Broward deputies, including Peterson, waited outside while the killer mowed down people. The Broward Sheriff's Office said Friday that it's investigating the Coral Springs officer's claims, but someone needs to investigate Sheriff Israel, who clearly has a political, rather than a law enforcement agenda.
Scott Israel with a loser
All the red flags about the shooter were disregarded. The police had arrived at his house about 38 times in the past. A vlogger went to the FBI after the gunman had written on a post of his vlog with his real name, that he wanted to become a professional school shooter.

Nothing was done.

The shooter had a history of putting a gun to his mother's head and threatening her. He threw chairs at people in school and was eventually expelled for his violent behavior.

Just which red flag were they looking for?

And the knee-jerk reaction is to go political, to call for more gun control laws, as if that would have made a difference. The left now claims that even those with guns [the cops] weren't able to stop a guy with an AR-15.
Scot Peterson
That's because they didn't do their job. Trump nailed it: they are cowards. He was referring only to Peterson when he said it, but I suspect he would agree about the others.

The FBI admitted it failed to investigate warnings about the shooter, but they also failed to apologize for that failure.

A child welfare agency looked into claims about the shooter, but they concluded he wasn't a risk to himself or others.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel admitted to the Sun-Sentinel that three Coral Springs officers said one or more sheriff's deputies didn't go into the school, and while he knew that before he went on camera to attack the NRA, he never admitted this until afterward.

I blame Scott Israel for not doing his job and for his vile dishonesty. He called for gun control and attacked the NRA, but would anyone in their right mind give up their guns and expect these incompetent buffoons to protect our kids?

I don't trust Scott Israel. If Peterson hadn't been caught on tape cowering behind a barricade, and the Coral Springs officers making their statement about the other cowardly deputies, I fully believe Israel would not have revealed this happened.

Coral Springs city manager Mike Goodrum, the day after the shooting, confronted Israel about the deputies' failure to respond. Goodrum only said he and Israel had a "heated discussion."

The Coral Springs PD issued a statement late Friday:
"There were countless deputies and officers who responded on that fateful day from multiple jurisdictions, whose actions were nothing short of heroic."
Broward County Sheriff's Department was not among them.

CNN denies they 'scripted' questions at gun town hall

The Certainly Not News network (CNN) is denying claims made by a student and shooting survivor of the Stoneman Douglas High School that they "scripted" questions for him to ask at a gun safety town hall in Florida.

Colton Haab is a Junior ROTC member and has previously spoken with the media about how he helped his peers seek shelter during the shooting. But he didn't participate in Wednesday's event because he said that CNN attempted to plant "scripted" questions for him to ask.

"CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted," the young man claimed. "I expected to be able to ask my questions and give my opinion on my questions."

A Certainly Not News spokes leftist explained that Haab submitted remarks to be delivered, but they were turned away once it became obvious that he planned on delivering a long speech and not just ask a singular question. [They also didn't like the speech he submitted because it didn't challenge the Second Amendment and instead, called for more hard targeting of schools.]

"There is absolutely no truth to Haab's claim," CNN Vice President of Communism Communications and Digital Partnerships Matt Dornic told The Daily Caller. "CNN did not provide or script questions for anyone in last night's town hall, nor have we ever," he quoted from a paper he was holding.

Despite CNN's allegation that the reason Haab wasn't permitted to give a long speech, the liars did, in fact, allow multiple participants to deliver lengthy soliloquies that went well beyond the pale of simple questions, because their speeches were more in line with CNN's leftist agenda.

For example, Lori Alhadeff, whose child, Alyssa, was one of the 17 victims killed in last week's mass shooting, gave a four-minute speech while Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch sat on stage.

Fair and balanced, CNN is not. They obviously aren't looking for real solutions but are counting on emotions to push their liberal agenda.

Ironically, Alhadeff asked Loesch "what is your plan to put things into action? What is your action?" but Jake Tapper didn't allow Loesch to answer, mainly because she is intelligent, has great ideas, and scares the crap out of leftists like Tapper.

Alhadeff has appeared on CNN in the past because her ideas agrees with theirs. Her emotional response to her daughter's death last week brought CNN's Brooke Baldwin to tears during a live broadcast. [It is believed by many who know Baldwin that she pulled out a nose hair to cause the tears to flow.]

When The Daily Caller requested an additional comment on why Alhadeff was allowed to deliver her long speech yet Haab was denied, they refused to respond and the sound of crickets filled the air.

Like Jimmy Kimmel who used his baby son as a prop, CNN should be ashamed of themselves for using these students in the same way.

Ft. Lauderdale Airport shooter grilled for hours

Esteban Santiago has been identified as the shooter in the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in the Friday murders of 5 and wounding of 8 people. It was learned that Santiago visited the FBI Anchorage office in November and told them he was being forced to watch ISIS videos. He believed US intelligence had infiltrated his mind and were forcing him to watch the propaganda videos.

According to sources, Santiago seemed agitated and incoherent during that interview, and it seemed obvious that he was suffering from a mental disorder. But not severe enough, evidently, to prohibit him from taking a gun along with him for the flight from Alaska to Florida.

After the November contact, the FBI called local authorities who took custody of him and brought him to a local hospital "for a welfare check."

According to his brother, he had been receiving psychological treatment, but it isn't clear if he was receiving anti-psychotic medication(s) for his schizophrenia, are just a good talking to.

The sources said that the November incident prompted the FBI to open an investigation on him that led to family interviews, database checks and an interagency interview. It was believed (by James Comey) that there wasn't enough credible information to commit Santiago or indict him for anything because no prosecutor would go forward with the case.

Yet, in recent years, Santiago had a series of incidents with the law.

Not quite one year ago, he was charged with fourth degree assault and damage of property in Anchorage where he lived from 2014 to 2016. (The fact that he never wore a winter coat should have alerted authorities, but that's another story.) One of the charges was dismissed by the local prosecutor two months later.

One of the charges may have been related to domestic violence but the case was resolved after Santiago agreed to enter an agreement of deferred prosecution. The charges were dismissed by the state prosecutor in exchange for completion of requirements.

Santiago served in the Puerto Rico National Guard and the Army Reserves prior to serving in the Alaska Army National Guard and was honorably discharged four months ago from his last post at Fort Greely, Arkansas as a Private First Class. He served 2 years in Iraq after which he started acting strangely, according to an aunt in Hudson County, NJ.

Santiago has a concealed carry permit and properly checked in his weapon prior to boarding--he evidently didn't want to get into any trouble. Maybe his becoming a dad this year cooled his jets until he landed in one in Florida today.

So did Esteban Santiago think he was somehow fighting for ISIS?

Santiago is behind bars and faces federal charges, the FBI announced Saturday. The official charges will be announced later in the day. The Special Agent in the case is George Piro who said that the suspect was questioned for hours and they have looked into his social media footprint and where he has traveled in the past.

Terrorism may have been a "potential motivation" for the attack, Piro said, and the FBI hasn't ruled anything out. "The indications are he came here to carry out this horrific attack," Piro said.

Santiago was not on any no-fly list, according to the FBI. Just because he approached them in Anchorage and told them an intelligence agency made him watch ISIS videos is no reason to put him on any no-fly list.

The suspect used a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun in the attack, Piro said. (I'm guessing Glock.)

One update has been made thus far: Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel said that 6 people, not 8, were wounded as originally reported. Three were in ICU and three were in good condition.

Santiago has a history of mental health problems, some of which came after he served in Iraq. He was receiving psychological treatment in Alaska, but nothing, it seems, was enough to put him on a no-fly list, and nobody worried that he took along a gun in his suitcase.

But I bet they checked his shampoo bottle and shoes.
