Nashville Jury Convicts Man Who Poisoned Pregnant Girlfriend, Killing Her and Their Unborn Child

Justice was swift in Nashville. After fewer than three hours of deliberations on July 1, a jury found 30-year-old Blaise Taylor guilty of murdering his pregnant girlfriend, Jade Benning, and their 24-week-old unborn daughter.

Later that same day, jurors recommended he spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Taylor was convicted of second-degree murder for Benning's death, first-degree premeditated murder for the death of their unborn child, and two counts of felony murder covering both victims.

Prosecutors argued that Taylor deliberately poisoned Benning during a February 2023 dinner at the couple's Nashville-area home in an effort to kill their unborn child.

As Alex Byington reported, "Prosecutors accused Blaise Taylor of poisoning Benning by allegedly spiking her pink lemonade with a deadly cocktail of cocaine and alcohol during a Feb. 2023 dinner at their Nashville-area home in an alleged attempt to induce an abortion."

The medical evidence painted a damning picture. Davidson County Medical Examiner Dr. Erin Carney testified that Benning had unusually high levels of cocaine in her system despite having no history of illegal drug use. Taylor initially tried to explain away the medical emergency by calling 911 and telling first responders that his girlfriend appeared to be suffering from an allergic reaction.

The testimony from one of Benning's closest friends proved especially devastating.

According to Li Cohen of WSMV, the friend had been with the couple earlier that evening. After they painted canvases together and took photos, Benning made a frantic phone call.

"She was like, 'I know you put something in my drink because I can't even walk straight.' She was just saying that she couldn't feel her legs," Nijaiha Jackson testified. "...You did this so something would happen to the baby."

Those words would become chilling evidence of what prosecutors said was a calculated act of murder.

The outcome was tragic.

"Benning was clinically dead before an ambulance was able to get her to a hospital," Cohen reported. "Her unborn daughter died within two days, and Benning was taken off life support a week after the incident, on what would have been her 25th birthday."

Taylor managed to avoid arrest for more than a year before authorities tracked him down in Logan, Utah, in March 2024.

According to Metro Nashville Police, the arrest followed "months of investigation" into the deaths. Detectives concluded that Taylor had poisoned Benning without her knowledge on February 25, 2023.

The guilty verdict closes one chapter in a horrific case that claimed two innocent lives. Taylor is scheduled to be sentenced on September 9, where he is expected to receive the punishment recommended by the jury: life in prison.

Spirit Airlines after bailout fais: UPDATE

UPDATE: President Trump has said that it will not bail out Spirit Airlines at this time and it's likely the airline will shut down, making airport videos less entertaining.

Spirit Airlines is circling the bowl after a $500 million bailout deal went belly-up, leaving the budget airline teetering on the edge of oblivion.

The carrier couldn’t wrangle support from the Trump administration or its key bondholders because, surprise, everyone involved started bickering over terms. Asked about the mess on Friday, President Donald Trump said, “We’re looking at it,” adding, “If we can do it, we’d do it,” even as reports indicate operations could be winding down as soon as this weekend.

This no-frills flying clusterfrack could go dark as early as Saturday unless some Hail Mary deal materializes at the last second. Government aid talks cratered when the bondholders dug in their heels, and now Spirit’s got barely days of cash left. U.S. officials are watching closely while everyone holds their breath.

For the moment, Spirit is putting on a brave face, insisting it’s “operating as usual” and keeping flights running with crews focused on getting people where they need to go safely. A spokesperson wouldn’t touch the negotiations with a ten-foot pole.

If this thing actually folds, thousands of passengers who thought they were scoring rock-bottom fares are about to get a harsh lesson in airline karma. Spirit runs dozens of routes, hopping between places like Dallas-Fort Worth, Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale, Nashville, New Orleans, and Newark. Good luck if you’ve got a ticket booked.

This mess is unfolding while budget carriers everywhere are getting hammered by sky-high jet fuel prices fueled by global chaos. Those razor-thin margins that depend on selling seats for pocket change aren’t looking so clever anymore.

A trade group for low-cost outfits, including Spirit, just begged the Trump administration for $2.5 billion in short-term help, whining that the little guys are getting squeezed hardest even though they haul tens of millions of passengers a year. They claim it’s all about preserving competition and stopping more industry consolidation. Sure.

Spirit has already been through bankruptcy court twice since 2024, so this isn’t exactly their first rodeo. They’ve been scrambling for any lifeline, including government-backed cash. With talks stalled and the clock ticking, America’s most infamous flying discount bin is now one failed lifeline away from becoming a cautionary tale.

Anti-Semite Candace Owens dumped from Trump fundraiser

Candace Owens is the new face of American anti-Semitism. She has a lot of company, however, with university presidents and their students as well as Iran-funded protesters who hate Jews and Israel, as much as they hate America.

Owens had been a weekly host on the conservative outlet the Daily Wire but was fired for her anti-Semitic sentiment and her downplay of the Holocaust atrocities. She even claimed that the experiments performed by Nazi scumbag Joseph Mengele on Jews during World War II sounded "like bizarre propaganda."

She was originally slated to headline the Friday event, which I wrote about, but having her at the event ignited a ton of backlash due to her recent anti-Semitic comments.

Donald Trump Jr. was also planning on attending.

“Donald Trump Jr. is making an appearance with Candace Owens, who recently suggested that the real victims of WWII were not the Jews but the Germans and the real villains not the Axis but the Allies,” Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) wrote on X/Twitter after the initial announcement.

Dov Hikind, a former New York State Assemblyman from Brooklyn, New York and founder of Americans Against Antisemitism, argued on social media that the Trump campaign “being so closely associated with her [Owens] and the disgusting behavior we’ve witnessed from her almost daily, makes it near impossible to make the case to the Jewish people that the Republican Party is where we can trust that antisemitism in any form will not be tolerated.”

It was after these and many other negative responses about Owens' attending the event that she was removed from the poster  and no longer attending the event in Nashville, Tennessee.

“It was never announced Candace was hosting an event with” the Trump campaign, a spokesperson for Owens told Jewish Insider.

Perhaps not, but it certainly seemed that it was announced.

Owens got into a verbal altercation with a reporter on X who said she was kicked out of the event over her recent comments, including her suggesting on her podcast that AIPAC, the largest pro-Israel lobbying organization in the United States, was involved in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

So in her warped mind, Lee Harvey Oswald was working for Israel or the American Jews. How did she make that bizarre connection? Oh wait, it's like the connection liberals make when a conservatives states a truism, calling them racists.

She even claimed in the same podcast episode that the US is being “held hostage by Israel.” In other words, if the US doesn't do the bidding of Israel, Americans are no longer going to receive Israeli-made tahini sauce.

The reporter mentioned above, Stella Escobedo, posted that she could confirm that Owens was off the panel for this week.

“I’m told it was a group of Bitcoin guys, not politicians who organized the event and didn’t know about her Jew hatred,” she tweeted.

“I’m told Don Jr. was invited to the event prior to Candace being added to panel. Zero tolerance for antisemitism.”

Owens denied the accusation saying, “I was definitively not canceled from any event over ‘Jew hatred,’ least of all because of anything to do with Trump’s campaign. This is just entirely made up out of thin air.”

Sorry, Candy, but I don't believe you.

The event in Nashville was billed as a “VIP Meet & Greet” and reportedly costs as much as $5,000 to attend. I probably won't make it.

Cops: Nashville school shooter planned the carnage months in advance; considered previous mass murders

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) in its investigation of the mass shooting at the Christian elementary school said Monday afternoon that the shooter, a 28-year-old woman who identifies as a man, had planned the massacre months ago.

The shooting last Monday at the Covenant School in Nashville murdered three 9-year-old children and three adults.  Authorities said in a press release that “from all information currently available,” the shooter “acted totally alone,” and revealed that she had planned the massacre at the Covenant School months “over a period of months.”

The MNPD has been going over the "collective writings" of the gender dysphoric woman they found in her vehicle and bedroom. The shooter had been a former student of the Covenant School. Police said she was influenced by previous mass shooters, but the cops still don't have a motive.

The writings, which include her “manifesto,” are under investigation by both the MNPD and the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit.

“The motive for [the shooter’s] actions has not been established and remains under investigation by the Homicide Unit in consultation with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit. It is known that [the shooter] considered the actions of other mass murderers,” MNPD said. It is also known that the shooter had been treated for an "emotional disorder," a relatively common problem of transgender [gender dysphoric] individuals. The Daily Beast said their source described the shooter as "autistic" but "highly functional."

The weapons purchased by the shooter were legally bought from gun stores in the Nashville area. She carried two rifles and a handgun when she breached the school.

The investigation found the in the total time she entered the school until she was neutralized by police, she fired off 152 rounds: 126 5.56 rifle rounds nd 26 nine millimeter rounds.

Police Officer Engelbert dropped the shooter with four 5.56 rounds and Officer Collazo unloaded another four rounds killing her. The entire episode from the time of the 911 call to she was killed was 14 minutes.

In contrast, the Uvalde PD waited an entire hour for backup as that shooter was killing children, one-by-nem before making a move on the mass school shooter in a Texas school.

Why did the Nashville school shooter target the Covenant School? What we know

Not everything gets reported in the news, especially when it bodes poorly for the Left's agenda. The recent, horrible Christian school mass shooting in Nashville is no exception. What's worse, the media madee the female killer, who identified as a transgender man, the victim in the story; not the three children and three adults who were slaughtered by her.

Nashville City Council Member Robert Swope spoke to the NY Post and provided them with some important information. Specifically, although police haven't yet released information regarding the domestic terrorist's motive, they could say that the three 9 year olds and the three adults were not targeted, but the school was the target of the killing.

Swope told the outlet that Hale had “looked at” two other schools, both public, before deciding “the security was too great to do what she wanted to do.”

“So she chose a private Christian school, for, probably the reason is that the security is a whole lot less,” he went on.

In other words, it was gun-free, and probably had no bag inspection x-ray equipment to inspect backpacks and the like.

Swope was now convinced that the community needed to “harden [our] schools from ballistics, active AI systems that can recognize guns at a hundred yards outside under any circumstances.” He said he and other Nashville officials were looking into how they could do that.

Basically, Swope said the same thing the Nashville Police Chief John Drake had previously said and that the left-leaning media glossed over. In Chief Drake's case, he also included shopping malls and other soft target locations.

“We strongly believe there was going to be some other targets, including maybe family members, and one of the malls here in Nashville,” Drake said. “And that just did not happen.”

So why didn’t the shooter hit the other location that she was considering?
Nashville Police Chief: "There was another location that was mentioned, but because of a threat assessment by the suspect of too much security, they decided not to," pic.twitter.com/5cZ1TcfJwv

— Rob (@_ROB_29) March 29, 2023
You might notice that Drake used the pronoun 'they' in his comment so as not to offend the sensitivities of the LGBTQ+1%~67! community. The shooter was a female, not a 'they.'

So the shooter planned carefully and saw that other locations had security measures in place so she decided to go to a gun-free [soft target] zone, a school she had attended knowing it would have no opposition. Fortunately, the school was in Nashville, not Uvalde, so the police showed what bravery was all about and killed her before she could kill anyone else.

But the targeting of the school was clear but the media wanted you to think it was due to it being a Christian school and therefore anti-LGBTQ+1%~67! which it is not. The media wanted us to feel sorry for the shooter, not the victims.

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) had an unhinged fit in the Congressional hallway, and blamed the GOP for not doing something because his thinking is initiated by knee jerks.

When Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) stopped and brought up his bill to have trained teachers armed, so that there might be some measure of security, the idiot Bowman went berserk. Bowman said that more guns equal more death. So if an armed, trained teacher had a gun and shot the killer before she could kill innocent children and staff, that would lead to only one more death, not mass death. Bowman is clearly not a math genius.

If shooters know that teachers are armed, how many of these lunatics do you think would try a school shooting spree? Maybe they would go to a softer target, but taking it the next step, if concealed carry permits were universally easier to obtain, wouldn't these crazy killers think twice? And if they didn't think twice about firing on the public, wouldn't they be stopped sooner, rather than later when the police arrive?

Seconds count.

If they changed the term 'gun-free zones' to 'soft target zone' or 'unarmed target zone,' that might make mass shooters think twice about their chosen endeavor.

It's a sad irony that in schools where defunding the police was pushed by leftists, and officers were removed from these schools, [as in the Denver East High School] it became a target and did not end well on March 22nd as two people were wounded and the shooter killed himself.

By what logic does it make sense that outlawing guns--in a country that has more guns than people--would keep people willing to break the law shoot and kill the people who follow the law?

And before the bodies were cold, the left went into their "never let a tragedy go to waste" mode.

AZ Gov's press secretary "resigns" after being outed by a pro-violence tweet against "transphobes"

After being ratioed on Twitter, the press secretary for Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs (D) no longer has a job. The Urban Dictionary defines ratioed as when "a reply to a tweet gets more likes than the tweet it was replying to, usually indicating the unpopularity or stupidity of the original tweet."

Hobbs' press secretary Josselyn Berry tweeted just hours after the 28-year-old woman with gender dysphoria opened fire at the Covenant School in Nashville. The post by Berry suggested that people who are "transphobic" [a word invented by the left to stop all discussion about transgender people grooming children, for example] should be shot.

Well, on Wednesday Berry resigned.

Berry's tweet included a GIF of the late Gena Rowlands in a scene from the movie "Gloria," where she is pointing two revolver handguns.

Arizona GOPers correctly accused Berry of inciting violence and called on Hobbs to fire her.

"Calling for violence is NEVER acceptable," the Arizona Freedom Caucus tweeted. "@GovernorHobbs Press Sec. tweeting about shooting political opponents on the same day a trans activist shoots up a school is nothing short of vile & heartless. There is no room for this in AZ Fire @joss_berry Now"

Arizona state Rep. Austin Smith tweeted, "Fire @joss_berry. Calling for violence from the 9th floor is beneath the office she is supposed to serve."

"Please contact @katiehobbs' office and respectfully demand that she fire her press secretary, Josselyn Berry, who posted an inciteful [sic] meme calling for the murder of transphobes," tweeted Arizona Women of Action. "Pray for a peaceful resolution."

The offending post from Berry, a Democratic operative and spokesperson for Hobbs, was later removed from Twitter for violating the site’s rules against inciting violence.

"The Governor does not condone violence in any form. This administration holds mutual respect at the forefront of how we engage with one another. The post by the Press Secretary is not reflective of the values of the administration. The Governor has received and accepted the resignation of the Press Secretary," the governor's office told ABC15 in a statement.

Somehow it has become acceptable to some on the Left to incite violence on those with different opinions, especially the religious right.

CORRECTION: Nashville Christian School Shooter was a Woman

So it turns out that the shooter at the Nashville Covenant school, who murdered Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9, Hallie Scruggs, 9, William Kinney, 9, Cynthia Peak, 61, Katherine Koonce, 60, and Mike Hill, 61, was not a woman as previously believed but a 28-year-old man with gender dysphoria whose name will not be revealed on this blog.

As you can see from my previous post, the victims were not all women as previously believed, since Mr. Hill, William Kinney, and the shooter were males. The shooter had been a former student at the Presbyterian school.

One of the victims: Hallie Scruggs with Daddy

CORRECTION: This post originally described the shooter as a dysphoric man, not a woman due to the misreporting of the press, but the latest information states that she was a woman. So please disregard the statement made below. It is extremely rare for a woman to commit a mass shooting as happened in Nashville, thus it was easy to assume the media was originally correct about her gender.

The shooter fired through a locked door to gain entry while armed with two semi automatic rifles and a handgun. He then went up to the second floor and began his shooting spree.

Two Nashville police officers entered the school and went to the sounds of gunfire, because that's what most cops do, unless they work for former Sheriff Scott Israel of Broward County infamy. The duo shot the killer at around 10:27 a.m. the police reported.

The shooter's home address is about three miles away from the Covenant School, according to public records. The FBI, ATF, and local police cordoned off that home with crime scene tape on Monday afternoon.

Investigators found a "manifesto" by the shooter and other writings that they are looking into as they search for a motive beyond his obvious mental illness of gender dysphoria.

The shooter's LinkedIn profile and personal website that appeared to be affiliated with him describes him as a graphic designer and who graduated from Nossi College of Art with a degree in illustration and graphic design.

Female mass shooters are very rare in the USA, according to FBI data, and this shooting was no exception. My first reaction to the shooting before knowing it was a man with gender dysphoria was one of surprise, but knowing it was a man classified as a "transgender woman" it no longer surprising. In fact, it's just further evidence that only two genders exist and you can't go from one to the other just by cutting off body parts and/or thinking you're the other gender.

This story is incredibly sad. The death of any child is sad, but to have a child taken from us with violence is heartbreaking. But the left wasted no time calling for more gun control legislation, as if that would have prevented this from happening. Pro tip: it would not.

Let's just pray for those souls this guy took from their loved ones, and for the mothers, fathers and siblings of the children who were killed.

Matt Walsh will hold "Rally to End Child Mutilation"

Photo: Jason Kempin/Getty Images

Matt Walsh, host of the Daily Wire, documentarian and children's author is not just talking about the issue of child mutilation [otherwise known as transitioning children] he's doing something about it to bring it to the public's attention.  Walsh is holding a rally at the Tennessee state capitol in Nashville that is aimed at calling for an end of "child mutilation" in the state.

The rally is to take place on October 21st.

Walsh tweeted:
“Join us on October 21 at the state capitol as we rally to end child mutilation across the state. We are going to put a stop to gender ideology’s assault on our children. Come and be a part of the movement.”
Matt will speak at the rally, which begins at 4:00 p.m. and there will be more speakers there as well--announcements to follow. The bestselling author also encouraged his followers to reserve a free ticket to the rally to “send a message to the entire nation that radical experimentation is not ‘medical care’ as the left has claimed—it is child mutilation, and Americans will not allow it to continue.”

It was Walsh who uncovered the practices of Vanderbilt University Medical Center where surgeries are being performed on children and whereby a large number of lawmakers demanded an investigation into the Nashville pediatric gender clinic. Shocking videos by a Vanderbilt doctor from the clinic described certain transgender surgeries as "huge money makers," and went into detail as to the post operative care people would require both in doctor intervention and medication costs.

A health law scumbag also called conscientious objections to transgender surgeries “problematic.” That is, if a doctor has, for example, a religious objection to cutting off a young girl's breasts, that doctor can find another hospital in which to practice.

“I just want you to take home that saying that you’re not going to do something because of your religious beliefs is not without consequences and it should not be without consequences,” said Vanderbilt health law expert and pediatrician Dr. Ellen Wright Clayton.

“If you don’t want to do this kind of work, don’t work at Vanderbilt,” Clayton added.

Tennessee Governor Bill Lee’s (R) office also said he is in contact with state lawmakers about legislation regarding transgender care for minors.

“We should not allow permanent, life altering decisions that hurt children, like we saw on display at VUMC. The Governor is in communication with Leader Johnson and Leader Lamberth about legislative solutions, and we look forward to working with them and many other Tennesseans who are passionate about protecting children,” Casey Sellers, a spokeswoman for the governor, said in a statement to The Daily Wire.

The clinic performs “gender-affirming” double mastectomies on minor girls and offers puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones for minors as well, according to Walsh.

In one video uncovered by Walsh, a Vanderbilt "sado-doctor" affiliated with the adult transgender clinic, not the pediatric one, can be seen emphasizing how gender surgery is a big money maker.

“It’s a lot of money. These surgeries make a lot of money,” VUMC Clinic for Transgender Health’s Dr. Shayne Sebold Taylor said.

This horrible doctor said that “gender-affirming” double mastectomies could bring in $40,000, and a female-to-male phalloplasty could bring in upwards of $100,000.

Tenn. rioter allegedly seen in Senate Chamber with zip ties: held without bond

The breach of the Capitol and Senate Chamber last Wednesday was disgusting and unconscionable. Conservatives are consistent in that belief, while leftists forgave the rioters over the summer who burned, looted and destroyed private property and businesses and also causing grave bodily harm to many individuals.

What happened Wednesday, however, ought never to happen again.

One guy from Tennessee, an alleged rioter and insurrectionist who stormed the Capitol and entered the Senate Chamber had brought along plastic restraints, implying the possibility that he was planning to kidnap Senators and/or other personnel. He was ordered held in police custody Monday.

The Nashville anarchist in question, Eric Munchel, 30, known as the "zip tie guy," appeared before a federal judge, and was held without bond pending further hearings. He is one of two rioters who had restraints with them in the chaos going on around them in the Capitol building, where Trump supporters were rioting. The other rioter caught is Larry Rendell Brock who was arrested in Texas on Sunday.

Munchel faces charges of knowingly entering or remaining in a restricted building on grounds without lawful authority, and one count of violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

Since there was no kidnapping, he cannot be charged for that crime.

Eric Munchel is believed to be a man photographed [see above] carrying zip ties into the Senate Chamber during last week's riot, the FBI said.

Prosecutors asked that he remain in custody pending extradition to Washington, D.C.

The FBI said photos of someone believed to be Munchel was carrying the restraints, an item in a holster on his right hip and a cellphone mounted to his chest with a camera facing outward.

"In my experience, flex cuffs are used by law enforcement to restrain and/or detain subjects," FBI agent Carlos Fontanez wrote in an affidavit.

Munchel has not been charged in connection with allegedly using the zip ties because he apparently didn't get the opportunity.

Law enforcement encountered Munchel at a Washington, D.C. hotel the day of the Capitol breach. They observed him carrying a "Taser Pulse," a device that emits electrical shock. He claimed he had it with him for self-protection at the Trump rally.

According to authorities, he attended the rally with a woman who was also pictured with him inside the Capitol, they said. Their relationship was not disclosed.

A hearing on Munchel's case is scheduled for today Tuesday.

"I want to remind you that it's very important that you communicate with them (attorneys) about your case. You need to speak openly and freely with them," U.S. Magistrate Judge Chip Frensley told him, according to the newspaper. "You don't talk to them and communicate with them, it's real hard for them to represent you. We have challenges in the COVID era, and they're going to work through those things, and I need to work with them so that they can do everything they can to represent you."

It is highly doubtful that Kamala Harris or any other Democrat will post bail for him if it is permitted after the hearing, as they did for Antifa and BLM thugs.

Stay tuned to this blog for more as the story develops--if they don't censor my free speech.

Nashville bomber's girlfriend warned cops about explosives in RV 16 months ago

It's likely that AW, [I will not fully name him here] the guy who detonated his RV Christmas morning in downtown Nashville, TN, had been plotting his suicide bombing since August 2019, according to a new report by the Tennessean. AW's girlfriend alerted police about the possible bomb-making at that time.

“Sixteen months before [the bomber’s] RV exploded in downtown Nashville on Christmas morning, officers visited his home in Antioch after his girlfriend reported that he was making bombs in the vehicle,” the Tennessean noted, based on documents obtained in a Freedom of Information Act request.

The documents, which include a Nashville Metropolitan Police report, indicate that the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation along with the FBI, were informed that AW had been working with explosives and may have been trying to wire a bomb to his RV.

The documents state that he also reportedly made threats consistent with the plan he eventually carried out, but  city, state, and federal authorities did nothing about it.

“On Aug. 21, 2019, the girlfriend told Nashville police that [the bomber] “was building bombs in the RV trailer at his residence,” the report states, according to the Tennessean. “Nashville police then forwarded the information to the FBI,” they added.

Nashville police eventually went to the woman’s home after they “were called by her attorney, Raymond Throckmorton III, who was concerned about comments she had made. When they arrived, they found her sitting on the porch with two unloaded guns nearby.”

The guns belonged to AW. and his then-girlfriend asked police to confiscate them. Throckmorton III reportedly told the police that AW “frequently talks about the military and bomb-making,” and the woman confirmed to authorities that the man “knows what he is doing and is capable of making a bomb.”

“According to the police report and Throckmorton [III], the woman was experiencing a mental health crisis at the time. Officers called their mobile crisis division, and after talking with the woman, she agreed to be transported by ambulance for a psychological evaluation,” the Tennessean noted.

The police then  visited the bomber’s home, and saw the RV. But they did not have sufficient evidence to search either the home or the trailer but passed what little information they had on to the TBI and FBI.

Checks on the bomber’s name came up clear, so authorities dropped the case, forgetting that there is always a first time for whatever we do.

Nashville police also said they asked Throckmorton III to ask AW to allow law enforcement on his property but he refused.

The lawyer, spoke to local media and seemed to accuse the Nashville police of shifting blame.

In a statement this week, the TBI admitted that the bomber, whom they claim was more interested in destruction than death, was “not on our radar” and that they had no prior knowledge of his plans or his bomb-making efforts [other than the fact they were told by the woman closest to him that he was planning to blow stuff up].

Three people were injured in the Christmas morning attack and dozens of businesses were damaged or destroyed. The FBI identified AW, who was blown to smithereens, by his DNA. They still don't have a motive and are exploring several possibilities, which I will not entertain at this time.

Dem. Nashville Mayor admits affair and may have misused taxpayer funds

Democratic Mayor of Nashville, Megan Barry, admitted to having an extramarital affair with former head of her security team and admitted she hoped to repair "the damage I have done."

It's unclear if the damage she was referring to was to her husband, Bruce or to the taxpayers whose funds she may have misused.

The Barrys had a son, Max, who, on July 30, 2017 died of an apparent drug overdose in Denver, Colorado at the age of 22.

Some of Ms. Barry's accomplishments since she has been mayor of Nashville:
Gun violence has increased significantly, rising up to 21 shootings from January to October 2017. The Tennessean noted that 2017 was "the bloodiest year for teens and children in more than a decade," many of whom were black children who lived in city-run [aka Democratic run] housing projects such as the James A. Cayce Homes. Barry promised to "get illegal guns off of our streets and out of the hands of kids and dangerous criminals" and she offered more job training for local kids. She did not explain how she planned to accomplish the goal of getting illegal guns out of the hands of kids.
In December 2017, Barry dedicated the first historical marker in Tennessee to honor an LGBT activist, Penny Campbell, in East Nashville. It is unclear as to which, if any, gender Penny Campbell identifies with, but whichever one or two she or he or whatever does, you can bet Barry is on board.
On January 31, 2018, Mayor Barry admitted she had an extramarital affair with Sgt. Robert Forrest Jr., the cop in charge of her security detail.

The Nashville city council's budget chairwoman, Tanaka Vercher, is reviewing her options to investigate if Barry possibly misused taxpayer funds during her extramarital affair. Vercher heads the budget and finance committee and has asked the council's lawyer to determine her authority to investigate the mayor's expenses during her tryst with her former security chief.

Barry accrued over $33,000 in travel expenses combined between her and Forrest, from January to late October 2017. She claims all the trips were just business related, not 'monkey business' related.

The Tennessean reviewed the case finding over $7,000 in overtime working on trips attended by Barry et al. In 2017, Barry and Forrest went on nine trips together--including one excursion to Greece--which they claim were "business related."

Forrest said on January 17th that he would retire Wednesday after over 31 years with Metro Nashville Police, 14 years of which he spent supervising the mayor's security detail over three administrations, and only this last one did he have a sexual relationship with the person he was securing.

"Right now the perception is--whether it's true or not--that this affair occurred on taxpayer's dime," Vercher said.

Trips to Greece are often taken by mayors of Nashville to ensure that Nashville souvlaki shops are getting pure ingredients.

Barry vowed during a Wednesday news conference to cooperate with any investigators in her conduct review, as if she had much of a choice.

"There were no policies that were violated," [if you don't count divine policy] she said. "Nothing illegal happened. The records will absolutely show that the expenses matched what the overtime expected."

Barry was elected in 2015 and said she plans to continue in office.

The affair began soon after she took office.

"I accept full responsibility for the pain I have caused my family and his," Barry blathered in a statement. "I am so sorry to my husband Bruce, who has stood by me in my darkest moments and remains committed to our marriage, just as I am committed to repairing the damage I have done."

Poor Mayor Barry--she is definitely the victim here, it seems.

Taking a page out of the POTUS communication handbook she tweeted:
"God will forgive me, but the people of Nashville don't have to. In the weeks and months to come, I will work hard to earn your forgiveness and earn back your trust. nashville.gov/News-Media/New..."
It's nice to know that even a mayor of a major US city can know what God will do. She even admitted knowing her behavior was destructive and said she "did it anyway."

But the best part was her pontificating while apologizing. "I must hold myself to the highest standard of which the voters deserve to expect. Please know that I'm disappointed in myself but also understand that I'm a human and that I made a mistake."

In a statement carefully reviewed by his attorney, Forrest said he regretted allowing his "professional relationship" with Ms. Barry turn "into a personal one."

The poor guy asked for privacy as he works "to rebuild the trust of the ones I love most."

Good luck with that trust, dude.

Former NFLer charged with felony domestic assault

Nashville -- Derrick Mason, 43, played 15 seasons in the NFL and has been charged with felony aggravated domestic assault and misdemeanor vandalism.

According to Metro Nashville Police, Mason turned himself in last Monday night.

Police said a 43-year-old woman told detectives that same morning Mason grabbed her by the neck and punched her in the stomach when she told him she wanted to end their relationship.

Detectives noted bruising on her right upper arm, a scratch on top of her hand, a red mark on her neck and a hole in a door.

The former wide receiver started with Tennessee before playing six seasons with Baltimore. In his final season in 2011, he split 12 games between the Jets and Titans.

More to follow on this case as information becomes available. Suffice it to say, O.J. Simpson, he is not.
