Follow up on shootout by White House on May 4th: what we now know

On May 4, 2026, around 3:30–3:40 p.m. local time, U.S. Secret Service officers were involved in a shootout with an armed suspect near the Washington Monument on the National Mall, roughly 4 blocks (about half a mile) from the White House.

The suspect, Michael Marx [interesting surname, right?], 45, of Midland, Texas, was spotted by plainclothes Secret Service agents concealing a firearm. This was near 15th Street and Madison Drive NW.

Agents followed Marx, who also goes by the aliases Michael Patrick, Patrick Michael, and Michael Zavici. The agents called for uniformed backup as Marx fled on Independence Ave. SW. As he ran, he drew a Sig Sauer P365, turned and fired at pursuing officers who returned fire.

Marx was struck multiple times in the arm, hand, upper abdomen, back and leg. His wounds were not life threatening and he was hospitalized at George Washington University Hospital.

A teenage bystander was grazed in the leg during the shooting and another civilian witness was also reportedly hit. The teen is expected to recover and no Secret Service officers were injured. A gun, previously described, was recovered at the scene.

The White House area was immediately locked down with a shelter-in-place for White House staff and reporters was given. The incident occurred shortly after VP JD Vance's motorcade passed nearby while President Trump was safe inside.

While being transported to the hospital, Marx reportedly made remarks like "F**k the White House" and "Kill me, kill me, kill me."

Marx was charged in U.S. District Court in D.C. with offenses including assault on a federal officer and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence. 

Currently, investigators are examining his background, phone and other devices, and possible motives via search warrants. There is no public indication of who Marx was targeting or a broader plot, as the probe continue.

This incident appears to be unrelated the April 2026 White House Correspondence Dinner perpetrated by suspect Cole Allen.

BREAKING: US Secret Service officers shoot armed person near White House

An armed individual was shot by U.S. Secret Service near the White House on Monday afternoon.

U.S. Secret Service officers shot an armed person Monday near the White House, according to a federal source familiar with the incident.

The shooting happened near 15th Street and Independence Avenue, a little over a half mile from the White House and close to the Washington Monument.

Secret Service Uniformed Division officers engaged the individual after the person pulled a gun, a federal source told Fox News Digital.

The suspect was believed to be alive and taken to a hospital, the source said. The situation appeared to be quickly contained, with no immediate indication of a broader threat, they said.The Secret Service said in a post on X that one individual was shot by law enforcement.

The Metropolitan Police Department said it is on the scene investigating and that the area has been secured.

Authorities urged the public to avoid the area as road closures were expected to last for several hours.

Lordy, Lordy, Comey indicted for alleged threats against Trump

Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted for a second time by the Justice Department. The charges stem from that unforgettable May 2025 Instagram masterpiece: a photo of seashells arranged in "86 47" formation on a beach, evidently during one of Comey's famous nature walks.

Comey is charged with "knowingly and willfully making a threat to take the life of, or inflict bodily harm upon, the President of the United States and knowingly and willfully transmitting a communication in interstate and foreign commerce that contained a threat to kill President Donald Trump," according to the indictment.

Both charges, released Tuesday by the DOJ, carry up to 10 years in prison. This follows a predictable wave of Republican criticism and Trump administration officials pointing out that a former FBI boss posting what sure looked like a coded hit on the president might be, you know, a problem.

"I think it's fair to say that threatening the life of anybody is dangerous and potentially a crime threatening the life of the president of the United States will never be tolerated by the Department of Justice," Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche told reporters during a news conference without going into specifics of the case.

"While this case is unique and this indictment stands out because of the name of the defendant, his alleged conduct is the same kind of conduct that we will never tolerate and that we will always investigate and regularly prosecute," he added.

In the slang often used in the service industry, to "86" something means to eject, cancel or get rid of it, kind of the similar expression: to 'deep 6' something.  And Trump is the 47th president. A reasonable person familiar with the circumstances would interpret this image as a "serious expression of an intent to do harm" to the president, per the charges.

The indictment also includes a Forfeiture Notice. If convicted, Comey must forfeit any property or proceeds derived from his alleged unlawful activities to the government.

A grand jury issued an arrest warrant for Comey. Blanche said he expects communication with Comey's legal counsel.

U.S. District Judge Louise Wood Flanagan, a George W. Bush appointee, has been assigned to the case.

"Well, they're back. This time about a picture of seashells on a North Carolina beach a year ago," Comey said in the 39-second clip. "But nothing has changed with me. I'm still innocent. I am still not afraid and I still believe in the independent federal judiciary. So let's go."

Comey added that it was "really important that all of us remember this is not who we are as a country."

"This is not how the Department of Justice is supposed to be. And the good news is we get closer every day to restoring those values," he added.

In a statement to Fox News, Comey's lawyer, Patrick Fitzgerald, said, "Mr. Comey vigorously denies the charges contained in the Indictment filed in the Eastern District of North Carolina. We will contest these charges in the courtroom and look forward to vindicating Mr. Comey and the First Amendment."

Comey removed the social media post of the shells the same day it was uploaded, claiming he had misinterpreted the shells as a general political message.

"I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message," Comey wrote in a subsequent post. "I didn't realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me, but I oppose violence of any kind, so I took the post down."

Following the post, Comey was questioned by the U.S. Secret Service in Washington D.C. At the time, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said the former FBI chief should be "put behind bars" for allegedly "issuing a call to assassinate" Trump.

In an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, Trump rejected this explanation.

"He knew exactly what that meant. A child knows what that meant," Trump said. "If you're the FBI director, and you don't know what that meant, that meant ‘assassination,’ and it says it loud and clear."

House Judiciary Ranking Member Jamie Raskin criticized the move by the DOJ, while recalling Trump's own remarks about Democratic lawmakers who urged military service members to disobey unlawful orders and his statement about former Rep. Liz Cheney.

"Trump's DOJ just criminally indicted James Comey for a beach photo of seashells and no other evidence cited," he said. "If that’s a crime in America, then what is calling the free speech of six Democratic Members of Congress ‘seditious behavior, punishable by DEATH’? What is suggesting a former Republican Member of Congress should have to ‘face nine barrels shooting at her’ with ‘the guns trained on her face’?"

This second indictment against Comey comes just hours after a federal judge in New York allowed a separate lawsuit brought by his daughter, Maurene Comey, to move forward against the DOJ.

Maurene Comey, a former federal prosecutor, is suing the DOJ over what she describes as an unlawful dismissal. Her lawsuit alleges she was terminated "solely or substantially because her father is former FBI Director James B. Comey, or because of her perceived political affiliation and beliefs, or both."

Comey was fired by Trump in 2017 during his first term over the handling of the Russia investigation. Since then, Comey has been a vocal critic of the president.

In September 2025, Comey was charged with lying to Congress regarding press leaks. However, a federal judge dismissed that case after ruling that the prosecutor involved had been improperly appointed. Comey’s legal team has declined to comment on this latest indictment.Earlier this month, Blanche said Trump has a "right" and a "duty" to influence federal investigations, including those involving his political enemies who probed him in the past.

"We have thousands of ongoing investigations and prosecutions going on in this country right now. It is true that some of them involve men, women and entities that the president in the past has had issues with and believes should be investigated," Blanche said at a press conference.He previously dismissed the notion that the DOJ has improperly been going after Trump opponents.

On April 14, the DOJ's Weaponization Working Group published a report accusing the Biden administration of weaponizing federal law.

Secret Service Agent on Jill Biden Detail, Shoots Himself in the Leg

A Secret Service agent was injured Friday morning after negligently discharging his firearm and shooting himself in the leg while escorting former first lady Jill Biden through the Philadelphia International Airport, according to a report by The Daily Wire. 

The agent fired the weapon just after 8:30 a.m. while on a protective assignment. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. No one else was injured and the former First Lady, a doctor, was unable to render aid because she isn't that kind of doctor in spite of Joy Behar having suggested that she would make a fantastic Surgeon General at the time her husband was an “Autopen POTUS”.

“The Secret Service’s Office of Professional Responsibility will be reviewing the facts and circumstances of this incident. We are grateful for our law enforcement and public safety partners who provided medical assistance,” the Secret Service said. 

After the shooting, a large police presence was reported in Terminal C of the airport, according to CBS affiliate KYW-TV. A medic unit responded to the scene and then left the area, followed by a Philadelphia police car.

The Secret Service has faced intense scrutiny from the public and from Congress after the July 13, 2024, assassination attempt on President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, which was one of the agency’s most serious security failures in modern history. Many believe that had it not been for D.E.I., a taller agent would have been assigned to protect Trump's upper body. Unfortunately, a rather short woman was one agent with that assignment.

Last year, more scandals hit the Secret Service after a uniformed division officer allegedly fell asleep while on duty at the United Nations General Assembly, and an armed individual bypassed security screening at Trump National Golf Club in Virginia. 

Despite those incidents, the Secret Service has also been praised for recent operations. In September, Secret Service personnel took down a network of electronic devices in New York that had been used to target senior federal officials with telecommunications threats.

In February, agents shot and killed an armed man who attempted to break into Mar-a-Lago with a shotgun.

So it's a 'hit-or-miss' situation, and unfortunately, in this current case, it was a hit right in the leg.

UPDATE: Man armed with shotgun and gas can killed at Mar-a-Lago IDENTIFIED

A man in his early 20s unlawfully entered Mar-a-Lago armed with a shotgun and a gas can at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, U.S. Secret Service announced. 

UPDATE: The armed intruder has been identified after being reported missing by his family.

Austin Tucker Martin, who was reported missing by his family on Saturday, was identified as the man armed with a shotgun and a gas can attempting to breach Mar-a-Lago, law enforcement sources told the New York Post.

The FBI, Secret Service, and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, are investigating the incident and potential motive, which seems somewhat obvious.

The individual was observed near the north gate carrying a shotgun and a fuel can and was ordered to put the items down by police. In response, he lowered the gas can to the ground and then aimed the shotgun at the officers who immediately shot him dead.

No Secret Service or PBSO personnel were injured, and no Secret Service protectees, including President Trump, were present at the location during the time of the incident, officials said.

The FBI, Secret Service and Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office are investigating, including the man’s background, actions and potential motive, as well as the use of force.

This third incident of the same type, appears to be the results of a media-fed public hating the administration and attempting to assassinate the President of the United States. The first incident was in Butler, PA in which President Trump was shot in the ear. The second was at Trump's golf course where the person was confronted and eventually taken into custody and is now serving life in prison.

This should be reminder of the difficulty that exists protecting the President, particularly at Mar-a-Lago.

The Secret Service is a hot mess

The U.S. Secret Service used to be considered an elite agency. However, the recent scandals show just how it has become a dysfunctional, bureaucratic hot mess that hampers its ability to carry out its main mission of protecting the President of the United States.

Janet Napolitano and Frances Fragos Townsend were part of an Independent Review Panel that looked into the Secret Service's mishaps in Butler, Pa., last July, along with other issues affecting their work.

"The Secret Service has become bureaucratic, complacent, and static even though risks have multiplied and technology has evolved," the panel wrote to DHS Secretary Mayorkas in October. The investigation "uncovered not only numerous mistakes that led to the events of July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania, but also deeper, systemic issues that must be addressed with urgency."

Reading through the report, I was surprised by how many suggestions there were for better security. I couldn't help but wonder why these obvious improvements needed a panel to point them out to the supposed experts in protection.

The president can lead the way in fixing these problems. The U.S. Secret Service director's role is crucial for our democracy and its leaders. Our independent panel discovered that the service has become too inward-looking, not making good use of new technology, and often sticking to old methods for protection. We need new leadership with lots of security experience.

Trump picked Sean Curran, an experienced Secret Service agent, as the new director. Curran was in charge of Trump's protection in Butler and has been with the Secret Service for 24 years.

He has a huge challenge ahead. One of the first things he could do is modernize how the Secret Service communicates.

Congress can also help right at the start of Trump's term. They can make it a requirement for the Secret Service to have better communication systems with federal, state, and local partners during protective events, including real-time management and tracking. It's ridiculous that our government's protection team has worse communication tools than many sports teams. On July 13 in Butler, the agents used a messy mix of radios, cellphones, texts, and emails. Snipers shouldn't be messing with phones when they need to watch for dangers.

The Secret Service is taking on too much. Originally known as "Treasury Agents," they were supposed to guard the U.S. money supply and protect people. Now, with new counterfeiting methods, they also look into cybercrimes like identity theft and ransomware. The panel suggests giving these extra jobs to other agencies so the Secret Service can focus solely on protection.

The panel pointed out that the Secret Service has a $3.1 billion budget and around 3,200 special agents. No matter what else they do, their main job is to protect key figures like the president, vice president, and presidential candidates. This job doesn't allow for any mistakes. All resources should go to this task before anything else, like dealing with financial crimes.

Other suggestions include better leadership, "Evaluation of Methodology for Protectee Resourcing," and "Leadership Training, and Training with State and Local Partners."

Unfortunately, not many of these suggestions are being looked at right now. Director Curran should start putting some of these practical recommendations into action as soon as possible.

Pro-Hamassholes try to storm White House grounds: DC cops and Secret Service engage

They waved Palestinian flags atop American memorials and did their monkey-see, monkey-do chant, "from the river to the sea, yadda yadda yadda yee." Some even did the "hey hey, ho ho, something something's gotta go." All were ant-Israel/anti-Semitic and supported the terrorists as they did the "March on Washington for Gaza."

They threw objects at the police and the rioters engaged in "destructive behavior," and while no staff member in the White House was injured, they had to be relocated, the Secret Service revealed. Biden was at Camp David at the time of the riot.

Fences were damaged and the so called peaceful demonstrators chanted "Cease fire now," and "Free, Free Palestine." Other chants were "Yemen, Yemen make us proud--turn another ship around." 

It's highly likely the pro-Hamasshole demonstrators were being paid to partake in the antics, but the source of their funding isn't known, nor is it a fact.

"During the demonstration near the White House complex Jan. 13, a portion of the anti-scale fencing that was erected for the event sustained temporary damage," the statement read. "The issues were promptly repaired on site by U.S. Secret Service support teams."

"As a precaution, some members of the media and staff in proximity to Pennsylvania Avenue were temporarily relocated while the issue was being addressed," the statement continued. "The Secret Service made no arrests associated with the march and there was no property damage to the White House or adjacent buildings."

NBC reported that “people in the U.S. capital held aloft signs questioning President Joe Biden’s viability as a presidential candidate because of his staunch support for Israel in the nearly 100-day war against Hamas.” Some of the signs read: “No votes for Genocide Joe,” "Let Gaza Live, and"“Biden has blood on his hands."

These idiots obviously don't know the meaning of the word 'genocide.' 

The network also pointed out that capitalism was alive and well, however, as  “vendors were also selling South African flags as protesters chanted slogans in support of the country whose accusations of genocide against Israel prompted the International Court of Justice in the Hague, Netherlands, to take up the case.” Of course NBC didn't mention capitalism but you get the point.

Non-essential employees at The White House have been told to leave the building and pro-Palestinian and Pro-Yemen protesters are saying, "Break it down!"

Meanwhile, the January 6 protesters are languishing in prison as anti-Semitism along with anti-America marches on.

US Secret Service agent assaulted Israeli woman, was sent packing

An allegedly drunk U.S. Secret Service agent reportedly assaulted an Israeli woman who had asked him to tone down his and another person's behavior outside a local in Jerusalem's famous Mahane Yehuda outdoor market on Monday when they became loud and disruptive.

The woman, believed to work at the pub or an owner of a nearby business, asked the men to tone it down. This caused the brave men to start an altercation in which they had either pushed or struck her. She was not seriously injured, certainly not as injured as the reputation of the U.S. Secret Service.

According to Reuters, two Secret Service agents were sent back to the U.S. from South Korea in May 2022 following a drunken assault on a local taxi driver. At least in this instance, it wasn't a woman they assaulted.

In this instance, the man was detained by local authorities but released without charge and sent on a flight back to the U.S.

In a terse statement, the Secret Service confirmed to CBS News that the man is a member of the heavy weapons tactical unit Counter Assault Team and had been detained by Israeli police.

“The employee has returned to the United States,” the agency told network. “In accordance with agency protocol, his access to Secret Service systems and facilities was suspended pending further investigation.”

Several sources with knowledge about the incident confirmed that alcohol had been a factor in the confrontation, but a Secret Service spokesman said that whether or not the agent had been intoxicated was still under investigation. If he wasn't drunk, that would bode worse, but if he was, that would bode badly.

Maine Rep.Scott Hamann threatens POTUS

Scott Hamann, a Maine lawmaker, posted his opinion and threatened President Trump on his social media account which he has since deleted because he is the p*ssy that he labeled President Trump.

In a rant that sounded more like a high school bully grabbing his crotch and challenging the president of the chess team, Hamann called Mr. Trump a "joke," a "rapist" and a p*ssy, and he ended his rant with what clearly sounds like a threat of bodily harm and perhaps even a death threat.

This so-called public servant (more like an idiot savant) posted a rambling diatribe laced with profanity and disgusting language referring to not only Trump, but also to his supporters. 

The keyboard hero posted on Facebook: "Trump is a half term president, at most, especially if I ever get within 10 feet of that p*ssy.

One FB user replied to Hamann's post asking: "Scott Hamann you plan to kill the President?"

The U.S. Secret Service knows of the situation, but officials gave no comment which means there's an investigation into the matter ongoing.

Regarding Trump supporters, Hamann wrote: "I just can't deal with you ignorant people anymore."

Hopefully he won't have to deal with U.S.

Hamann kissed up to Obama saying he "ran quite possibly the classiest 2 term presidency in US history."

Not counting, of course, Solyndra, Benghazi, the Iran deal, Muslim Brotherhood visitors in the White House, doing the "testicle" Pledge of Allegiance, and so much more--just ask any corpse man in any of our 57 states.

The twit deleted his posts but screen grabs of his rants were forwarded to Conservative talk radio host Keith Hanson on WNTK and WUVR in New Hampshire and Vermont. Hanson shared the images with Fox News and Hamann's bosses the statewide hunger relief organization, Good Shepard Food Bank, where Hamann is program director.

The real Good Shepard wouldn't be happy with Hamann's remarks.

Hanson spoke to Fox News: "I had somebody reach out to me and passed screenshots on to me saying that they were concerned about this. . . . This is a Democrat, a liberal, who was threatening the president," Hanson said.

He also said that Hamann confirmed to him, in a private FB message chain, that he did, in fact, post those comments.

So Hamann messaged Hanson with: "Hi Keith. Contacting my employer over a facebook comment I made to an old friend? I'm sorry if the truth triggered you so much that you felt it was a good idea to send a screenshot to my employer. 
"'Profanity-laden'?? Are you kidding me? The only swear words in the image you posted were a**, pr*cks, and Trump. Too much for a snowflake, then don't read comments between me and my childhood friend."

Then like a true hero Hamann added, "if anything negative comes from your attack on my employment, my attorney will be in touch. Cease and desist."

Hanson was shocked that an elected official could say such hateful things against the president. "When you are selected to become the voice of an electorate, you have a huge responsibility to be policing your words and representing your constituents at the best of your ability," Hanson told Fox News. "What was surprising to me was that anybody with half a brain would have said 'those aren't my comments.'"

Maine Republican Party Chairman Demi Kouzounas posted Hamann's vitriol to the Maine GOP Twitter page on Wednesday which was soon followed by the Maine State House Majority Office's release of Hamann's apology b*ll s*it:

"While the tone of the post was born out of frustration with the vile language currently surrounding politics, I should not have responded with the same language. This is not language I typically use, it does not reflect my personal values, and while misguided, it was intended to make a visceral point about the developing political discourse in America [which then discredits his statement that he "should not have responded with the same language]."

Evidently Hamann is taking the Democrat's lead in vile language, but to blame his frustration on "language currently surrounding politics" is a cowardly copout. 

Then to disown the fact that he threatened to harm the President because it "doesn't reflect (my) personal values" is at best admitting he's a liar, and more probably, a person of interest to the U.S. Secret Service. 

I hope for the latter. 

We should all be sick and tired of people threatening a U.S. President, whether you like Trump or hate him. If you don't respect the office of the President, then you really don't respect the country that voted the President into the office.
