Israel's Political Class Flirts With Civilian Control Becoming Political Control

There are moments in the life of a democracy when the greatest danger does not come from an external enemy, but from the temptation of those in power to bend the state's institutions to their own political ambitions. Israel, a nation whose security depends on an independent and professional military, has once again found itself confronting that uncomfortable reality.

The latest controversy erupted after Defense Minister Israel Katz announced during a live television appearance that he was replacing IDF Central Command chief Maj. Gen. Avi Bluth, despite lacking the legal authority to make such a decision. Whether one supports or opposes the current government, the episode raises a far more consequential question than the fate of a single general. It asks whether political theater is beginning to eclipse the rule of law in matters of national defense.

Opposition leader and former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot wasted little time condemning the move.


"The spectacle that took place on [Channel 14] was an unprecedented lowpoint in relations between the political and military echelons, an improper and unlawful act," Eisenkot wrote on X. "The State of Israel is no one's private property, and the IDF is not a tool to be used in primaries by politicians who've lost their way."

His criticism lands at an especially delicate political moment. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud Party is preparing for August 17 primaries, where more than 100,000 party members will determine the party's Knesset slate ahead of Israel's October 27 general election. Katz is widely viewed as seeking a higher position on that list, making any appearance of politicizing military leadership especially damaging.

Eisenkot did not stop there. He argued that the government "is not fit to safeguard the security of the state," adding that "very soon, the people of Israel will have worthy and responsible leadership, with Israel's welfare and security as its sole concern."

Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett was equally unsparing, accusing the government of turning against the very institution charged with defending the nation.


"After dismantling the IDF from the outside and paving the way for mass draft evasion, the October 7 government has now decided to dismantle the IDF from within and guarantee complete chaos," Bennett wrote. "Tonight, I say to every citizen of Israel, and to all IDF soldiers and commanders, both active-duty and reservists: Hold on tight, the reinforcements are on their way. Soon, we will replace them, and together we will set things right."

Israel's security has always rested on a delicate constitutional understanding. Civilian leaders rightly command the military, but they do so through established legal authority and institutional restraint, not televised declarations or campaign calculations. Democracies survive because governments change while institutions endure.

Whether this latest dispute proves to be an isolated political misjudgment or a symptom of something more corrosive remains to be seen. But history offers a consistent lesson: once military appointments become instruments of partisan advantage, public confidence in both government and the armed forces begins to erode. That is a price Israel, surrounded by enemies and dependent upon the professionalism of the IDF, can scarcely afford to pay.

Bennett Reveals Israel Almost Installed Nationwide Iranian Wi-Fi Before Government Accidentally Forgot To Topple Regime

JERUSALEM, ISRAEL — Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett revealed Tuesday that Israel was once on the verge of doing what generations of foreign policy experts only dreamed of: overthrowing the Ayatollah with better internet service.

Speaking at the JNS International Policy Summit in Jerusalem, Bennett said his government launched a daring operation to smuggle thousands of Elon Musk's Starlink receivers into Iran, hoping that unlimited access to social media would finally accomplish what sanctions, diplomacy, and decades of regional conflict could not. [Although, arming the Iranian citizens might also go a long way.]

Bennett explained that he initiated a "process of acquiring and smuggling into Iran tens of thousands of Starlink receptors that would allow continuity of the internet and social networks."

According to Bennett, the devices were intended to ensure Iranian protesters could continue posting revolutionary hashtags, uploading anti-regime TikToks, and sharing memes mocking their rulers even during government internet shutdowns.

The plan, however, met an unexpected obstacle: the Israeli government.

"Unfortunately, the current incompetent Israeli government stopped doing that," Bennett said. "And when the protest happened, that infrastructure was not there."

Political analysts noted that the revelation marks the first documented case of a Middle Eastern regime change effort being delayed by a shortage of Wi-Fi routers.

Starlink, operated by Elon Musk's SpaceX, has long been viewed by authoritarian governments as a dangerous threat because it allows citizens to access information without first obtaining approval from whichever supreme leader happens to be in charge. Iranian officials have repeatedly accused Israel and the United States of smuggling the devices into the country, apparently fearing that unrestricted internet access could expose citizens to such dangerous concepts as reality.

While Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office did not immediately respond to Bennett's criticism, insiders suggested staff members were busy trying to determine whether toppling a hostile theocracy counts as infrastructure spending.

SpaceX also declined to comment, though observers speculated Musk was occupied posting about Mars, artificial intelligence, or both simultaneously.

Iranian authorities have frequently shut down internet access during periods of unrest, forcing many citizens to choose between protesting the regime and endlessly watching buffering icons. Previous reports indicated some Iranians successfully turned to Starlink during blackouts, proving once again that satellite internet can travel where government competence cannot.

Bennett, who is positioning himself as a potential challenger to Netanyahu in the next election, [which may be why he is now calling the Israeli government 'incompetent'] promised that a future government under his leadership would pursue more aggressive efforts to undermine Tehran's rulers.

Sources say Bennett's updated strategy may include economic sabotage, industrial disruption, and the revolutionary concept of letting dissidents stay connected long enough to finish a group chat.

Princeton student called an "inbred swine" by Jew-hating protesters who told her to "go back to Europe"

A lecture by former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett at Princeton University was disrupted this week by protests inside and outside the event, with Jewish students reporting anti-Semitic slurs and hostile rhetoric from demonstrators.

Danielle Shapiro, a senior at Princeton who attended, said the protest began almost immediately.
"The administrative failures began really even before this event started at 7:30," Shapiro told Fox News' Fox & Friends. 

"Entering this event with a former prime minister of Israel, you did not have to have your identity verified, you do not have your bag checked."

Shapiro said about 200 protesters gathered outside, banging drums, using megaphones, and shouting to deny Bennett’s free speech rights. 

The situation worsened when protesters inside stood up and shouted.

"About 20 minutes in, 25 Princeton students got up and started screaming at Naftali Bennett," Shapiro recalled, noting they used expletives against the official.

The event was stopped when someone pulled a fire alarm, a là Jamaal Bowman style, forcing an evacuation. 

Outside, attendees faced a large crowd of demonstrators. In an op-ed for The Free Press, Shapiro wrote that she was targeted with anti-Semitic slurs, including being told to "go back to Europe" and being called "inbred swine" by some protesters. [The irony that she was born in the USA and some who told her to go back to Europe were not, should not be lost on us.]

Shapiro and other Jewish students are now demanding action from Princeton, but don't hold your breath.

"We ask that [President Christopher Eisgruber] formally and publicly apologize to the former prime minister for this disgrace," she said, also requesting disciplinary action for those who disrupted the event.
She called for new policies to prevent future antisemitic incidents, such as banning face coverings at protests, a rule already in place at Columbia University after similar issues.

Shapiro also urged the suspension of Princeton’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine, arguing the group has repeatedly violated university rules.

"That is a nasty group of students on-campus who have violated multiple university rules, and that alone is grounds for a club suspension," she said.

In a statement Tuesday, Princeton President Christopher L. Eisgruber said he was "appalled at reports of antisemitic language directed by demonstrators at members of our community." He promised an investigation and potential disciplinary measures, noting that at least one disruptor inside was not affiliated with the university.

The likelihood that the non-student will face consequences is as probable as Osama bin Laden's son having a bar mitzvah.

The incident follows the Trump administration’s recent decision to suspend millions in research funding for Princeton and other Ivy League schools due to concerns about campus antisemitism.

While Shapiro believes Princeton has managed protests better than some schools, she remains troubled.

"If you had told me what Princeton's environment was like two years ago today, I would have been shocked to my core," she said. "Saying it's relatively better than Columbia is not something that Princeton should be taking as a point of pride. It really is, it's very concerning still."

Israel PM Naftali Bennett calls out Christiane Amanpour for lying

Failing CNN anchor Christiane Amanpour interviewed Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett about his country's policies used to control violent rioting on the Temple Mount and "settlements" [aka Jewish communities] in Judea and Samaria. 

PM Bennett pulled no punches to her obvious bias as she pushed the narrative that the reason for the terror meted out by the Palestinians was due to the stalled peace talks and that both sides are to blame for the cycle of violence, and asked what's he going to do about it.

“I object to the notion of ‘both sides.’ No,” PM Bennett replied. “When they don’t attack us, we have no issues with them. But when they do attack us, I have to fight back and hit them [in] their terror bases, and that’s what any leader would do, and that’s what I’m doing.”

There is no real moral equivalency between Israel and the Palestinians. Israel does all it can to minimize innocent casualties when they retaliate; the Palestinians do all they can to maximize casualties when they target schools, hospitals and dwellings. That's just a fact.

After Amanpour, whose father is Iranian and Bosnian, insinuated that violence carried out by “Jewish settlers” is a major national security concern on par with Palestinian terror, quoting Bennett and an IDF general’s previous remarks on the issue, the premier interrupted her.

“What you’ve been projecting is blatantly false,” Bennett said. “It’s a lie, simply a lie.”

“No, sir, you cannot say that to me. You cannot tell me I’m lying,” replied Amanpour, who appeared taken aback by his factual statement. Of course he can call her a liar--she's a damned liar and stretches the truth to accommodate her agenda. This is a woman who compared Donald Trump to Kristallnacht and the Nazis, and never even mentioned that little part of it being about the killing of Jews.

“I can,” Bennett said. “You’re misrepresenting the facts… I said a tiny minority, and I object [to] the symmetry that you’re trying to create here.”

While violence or vandalism from settlers is unacceptable, it also pales in comparison to deadly Palestinian terror, Bennett said.

“Who’s getting murdered? We’re seeing Palestinians murder Israelis. We’re not seeing Israelis murdering Palestinians, and that’s why there’s no symmetry here…

“I also object, these are not occupied territories, they’re territories in dispute, and we have claims to our own places, as well as them,” he added.

“I get it,” the Israeli leader continued. “No one’s going anywhere. We have to figure out how to live together. That’s my job. To provide security for Israelis, dignity for Palestinians. I’m working on that very hard, and we’re succeeding.

Sad to say but Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is right and, while there is bias in all reporters, Christiane Amanpour is too biased to be believable.

The Ramadan Bombathon is in full swing as IDF kills "ticking time bomb" terrorists

The Israeli Defense Force foiled a ticking time bomb attempt over the Jewish Sabbath, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said.

Israeli Special Forces successfully tracked down and terminated with prejudice an Islamic Jihad terror cell riding along in their automobile, on their way to kill as many Israeli Jews as they could.

It was a joint operation involving the elite Yamam counter-terrorism unit along with Shin Bet security service that found, confronted and killed three scumcrumpet terrorists Friday night in a shootout that went down between Jenin and Tulkarm.

The jihadi cell had assault rifles, grenades, and other weapons with them but it did them no good as the Israeli forces busted a cap in their asses and sent them to Jannah to meet their assortment of virgins.

According to the IDF, the cell had recently been undertaking terrorist activities against the security forces and were apparently on their way to spark another attack.

Unfortunately, four members of the Special Forces unit were wounded in the incident, including one in serious condition. They were taken by helicopter to Rambam Hospital in Haifa.

Two were released from the hospital on Saturday. The casualty hospitalized in serious condition is in the intensive care unit while on life support. The fourth patient is now in a light condition and will be released on Sunday. 

Let us pray for him.

Incredibly, none of the terrorists were named Muhammed or a derivative of that name such as Mahmoud or Mahmet. There names are being withheld because they don't deserve to be mentioned. A fourth cell terrorist who was armed, was arrested in the Tul Karem area.

“We are in the midst of a joint effort by the security forces to stop the recent terrorist attacks from continuing and to restore security to the citizens of Israel,” Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said during a visit to the Israeli Security Agency on Saturday evening.

The Islamic Jihad announced in response to the operation that it “swears to continue the mission of resistance to Israel and its attacks as an expression of the will of the Palestinian people.”

Those a-holes need to look up the word 'resistance.'

3 Biden negotiators jump ship due to the 'tough guy' being too soft

The face of confusion

Three negotiators on the Biden Build Back Better Bombs team who have tried to get Iran to negotiate, because that's what negotiators do, have left the team because they say Biden might as well have been wearing a pussy hat as he was being too soft on the terrorist nation.

“U.S. officials confirmed over the weekend that Richard [Dick] Nephew, the deputy special envoy for Iran, has left the team. Mr. Nephew, an architect of previous economic sanctions on Iran, had advocated a tougher posture in the current negotiations, and he hasn’t attended the talks in Vienna since early December,” The Wall Street Journal reported. They also said that two other team members, led by State Department Robert [Bobby] Malley also jumped ship because Biden talks tough but is actually as weak as roadkill and slightly less sentient.

The team cannot agree on how strictly existing sanctions should be enforced and at what point should the US walk away from the table. Some so-called "experts" warn that the terrorist nation of Iran is simply trying to prolong talks while they continue to build back a better bomb in their nuclear program.

“The divisions come at a pivotal time, with U.S. and European officials warning that only a few weeks remain to rescue the 2015 deal before Iran acquires the know-how and capability to quickly produce enough nuclear fuel for a bomb,” the report stated. “Under the agreement, the U.S. lifted most international sanctions on Tehran in exchange for strict but temporary limits on Iran’s nuclear work. The Trump administration exited the agreement, seeing it as insufficient to restrain Iran, and the Biden administration is trying to reverse course.”

Trump was correct to leave that crappy deal, which would only delay Iran's intentions of building back a better bomb and using it to destroy Israel and the United States, they think.

Last year, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett implied that his country was ready to move against Iran before it finished making a bigger, better, bomb as it was getting too close to obtaining enough fissile material to finish the job. Israel promised they would keep that from happening.

“Iran’s nuclear weapon program is at a critical point. All red lines have been crossed. Inspections — ignored. All wishful-thinking — proven false,” Bennett said at the anti-Semitic United Nations. “Iran is currently violating the IAEAs safeguard agreements — and it’s getting away with it. They harass inspectors and sabotage their investigations — and they’re getting away with it. They enrich Uranium to the level of 60 percent, which is only one step short of weapons-grade material — and they’re getting away with it.”

Bennett, not necessarily known for repetition, set a personal record in doing so at the UN.

“Evidence which clearly proves Iran’s intentions for nuclear weapons in secret sites in Turquzabad, Teheran & Marivan — is ignored,” he continued. “Iran’s nuclear program has hit a watershed moment. And so has our tolerance.” [But not for Biden.]

“Words do not stop centrifuges from spinning. There are those in the world who seem to view Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons as an inevitable reality, as a done deal, or they’ve just become tired of hearing about it,” Bennett added. “Israel doesn’t have that privilege. We cannot tire. We will not tire. Israel will not allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon.”

What happens from this point on in time is anybody's guess. Hopefully the US midterm elections will result in a GOP butt-kicking and the adults can take back the wheel before the car runs off the road.

Israeli defense minister: No more returning bodies of dead terrorists

Israel's Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said that he's proposing a policy to abolish the Israeli practice of returning the corpses of terrorists. He "instructed the  IDF [Israeli Defense Forces] and the defense establishment on Tuesday to stop the total release of terrorist bodies," an English-language statement from his office read.

“This was after a number of discussions the minister held on the issue of deterrence with senior security officials,” it added.

The minister says that the ramification of the announcement is that “all the bodies of terrorists that Israel holds and will hold in the future will not be released, regardless of the terrorist’s organizational affiliation and the nature of the attack he committed or attempted to carry out.”

So, if the terrorist was a Hamasshole, Islamic Jihad, or any other terrorist group, the body will not be released. If the body is fully intact after being shot, it will not be released. And if the body parts of a suicide bomber are scooped up, they will not be released.

“Exceptional cases” would remain at the discretion of the defense minister “based on the circumstances,” says the statement, giving a case of child terrorists as one such example.

The minister acknowledges that the new policy is subject to the approval of the security cabinet, but this approval is projected to be gained.

Bennett says that it will be “introduced shortly” to the ministers, “as part of a broader deterrent process, and will come into effect after the [security] cabinet’s approval.”

MK Benny Gantz, of the Blue and White Party and a former military chief of staff, welcomed Bennett’s announcement but called for greater secrecy and sensitivity.

“This is a step in the right direction, but such decisions should be made in the cabinet rather than in the media. We have prisoners and missing people on the other side, and everything needs to be done and every effort made to bring them home,” Gantz told the same media he evidently hoped weren't paying attention.

The family of Lt. Hadar Goldin, whose body has been held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas since 2014, said that it backs the defense minister’s decision.

“It is inconceivable that while the soldiers are in the hands of Hamas, we will continue to release dead or living terrorists. Freeing terrorists is a prize that Hamas cannot be given while holding on to our soldiers and civilians,” said the Goldin family statement. [Hamas currently controls the Gaza Strip.]

The family has called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to take such a step, in a meeting with the premier, and Netanyahu is reported to have responded sympathetically, saying that he would examine the subject with the defense establishment.

“Prime Minister Netanyahu has pledged to us that a ceasefire [with Hamas in the Gaza Strip] will not take place without bringing the boys home and we expect to see that the economic-civilian projects will not be promoted as long as our boys remain in Gaza,” said the Goldins.

Holding onto the remains of terrorists and thus preventing them observable martyr status seems like a good idea.

Anti-Semitic murders in 2018 'highest' in decades: Israel

The Israeli government reported last Sunday that the number of Jews murdered in anti-Semitic attacks around the globe last year reached its "highest" level in decades.

The report came after the mass shooting at the Pittsburgh synagogue shooting last October killing 11 people.

A total of 13 Jews were killed in three separate attacks over the year, according to the 2018 Global anti-Semitism Report released on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

In January 2018, a student was murdered in California, and in March, 85-year-old Holocaust survivor Mirielle Knoll was slaughtered in a brutal attack at her Paris home.

"This marks the highest number of Jews murdered in anti-Semitic attacks since the attacks on the Argentinian Jewish community in the 1990s," the report said.

For the second year in a row, the number of anti-Semitic incidents in Britain reached a record high, according to the report, citing British charity Community Security Trust which counted over 100 anti-Semitic episodes a month in 2018, a quarter of which occurred on social media, dwarfing incidents of so-called Islamophobia.

The report noted that after a two-year decline of anti-Semitic attacks in France, there was a 69 percent rise in 2018.

Contrary to previous years, anti-Semitic violence in 2018 was "led by neo-Nazis and white supremacists", the report said.

It defined 70 percent of attacks as "anti-Israel in nature," noting a spike when the US moved its embassy to Jerusalem in May and violence flared on the Gaza border.

Diaspora Minister Naftali Bennett said it was Israel's "responsibility to help the millions of our brothers and sisters in the Diaspora [Jews living outside of Israel] who are facing more and more anti-Semitic crimes".

He called on governments around the world to "take a harsh stance against the hatred of Jews."

The report noted that there is also "room for hope."

"More and more governments are declaring their commitment to fighting anti-Semitism, and appointing emissaries to that end," the report said. The UK's Jeremy Corbyn was not among those voices, nor were Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, Keith Ellison, Louis Farrakhan, Barack Obama, Linda Sarsour, Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand and Andre Carson, to mention just a few Americans who oppose ending the BDS movement against Israel, which is covertly anti-Semitic, or  who themselves are openly anti-Semitic.

The Simon Wiesenthal Center in Jerusalem on Sunday also released its annual report on the "Worldwide Investigation and Prosecution of Nazi War Criminals".

It said that between April 2017 and March 2018 one person was convicted for Nazi-era crimes, while three others were charged.

So when idiots use the term 'nazi' to verbally attack anyone with whom they disagree, they are disrespecting those who lived and died at the hands of real nazis, and are diluting the horror at which the scumbags operated.

Israel on fire--not an accident

Haifa, Israel -- Tens of thousands of Israelis are being evacuated from their homes as wildfires rage in various parts of Haifa, with a population of about 300,000. The fires are also threatening homes near Jerusalem and the West Bank.

One minister said that about half of the fires were "apparently arson," but this has not been confirmed by law enforcement.

No deaths or serious injuries have been reported but the national ambulance service say about 35 people have been treated for smoke inhalation as hundreds of military reservists have been activated to help fight the three-day outbreak.

Schools, kindergartens, retirement homes and the University were evacuated.

The Mayor of Haifa, Yonah Yahav told Channel 2 TV that there was some evidence that one of the fires began when "someone tossed a cigarette in an area full of oil and flammable fluids" in an industrial area.

Highway 443 linking Jerusalem and Tel Aviv was closed to morning traffic on Thursday after another fire reached the city of Modi'in.

About 300 students were evacuated from a school in a settlement known as Talmon, and homes and cars were damaged in the blaze.

Cyprus, Italy, Russia, Croatia and Greece have sent help and equipment, including aircraft, to help tackle the blazes.

Four Palestinians have been arrested and are to appear in court on suspicion of starting a bonfire 'negligently'.

"Almost 50% of the fires are apparently arson," Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan told Army Radio. 

Education Minister Naftali Bennett, the leader of the Jewish Home party, Tweeted (in Hebrew): "Only those to whom the country does not belong are capable of burning it."

The Arabic-language hashtag #Israel_on_fire began trending and most of the tweets expressed pleasure and satisfaction over the outbreak of fires.

Here's a question: if being Islamophobic in America is considered to be racist, why isn't being anti-Semitic also being racist?

Kerry Blames Israel for Recruitment of ISIS Terrorists

John Kerry is the epitome of a left wing ideologue. He has linked the recruitment of ISIS terrorists to the conflict between Israel and an area called Palestine. Kerry, like his boss and others in this administration, has made a living out of bad-mouthing our allies and kissing up to our terrorist admirers. 

"As I went around and met with people in the course of our discussions about the ISIL coalition, the truth is we--there wasn't a leader I met with in the region who didn't raise with me spontaneously the need to try to get peace between Israel and the Palestinians, because it was a cause of recruitment and of street anger and agitation they felt--and I see a lot of heads nodding--they had to respond to," the lying gigolo said  the Secretary of State said at a State Department reception celebrating the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha. 

If anyone talks in babbling, run-on sentences, it's John Kerry.

At least Obama did not follow in Kerry's footsteps when he said in a speech made at the UN, that "the situation in Iraq and Syria and Libya should cure anybody of the illusion that the Arab-Israel conflict is the main source of problems in the region."


Israel is understandably and rightfully pissed off by Kerry's obvious anti-Zionist, "blame-the-victim" remark. Of course, Kerry is a man who lied about his service in Vietnam and put himself in for medals he didn't deserve. I don't put much store in what he preaches.

Gilad Erdan, Israeli Communications Minister, and Naftali Bennett, the Israeli Economy Minister, blasted the Swift-boat queen for linking the terror group (a group that seeks the creation of an Islamic caliphate in Iraq, Syria and whatever else they can grab) to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that has been repeatedly provoked by the Palestinians.

"It turns out that even when a British Muslim beheads a British Christian, there will always be those who blame the Jews," Bennett said.

Kerry pretends to be intelligent but he doesn't get it: radical ISIS scum, like the radical Islamic Hamas scum, totally reject any peaceful offers they are given. They have made it abundantly clear that, like the prophet of Islam, Mohammed, they will only accept Israel's total destruction.

With that in mind, peace between Israel and the Palestinians would create more anger and terrorist activity than decreasing the ISIS recruits.

Interestingly enough, there seems to be a wave of young people, particularly women, who left to join jihad and now want to return home. Reality has a way of doing that to ideologues; maybe when Kerry has to awaken to the call to Adhan, Islam's call to worship, he too will open his eyes.

Let's just hope his fake hair doesn't get in his way.
