On Wednesday, New York City Mayor Eric Adams (D) claimed that his city is the safest big city in America” after new statistics released by the NYPD showed crime is down in most categories compared to 2022.
Shootings are down 26%, homicides are down 10% and grand larceny is down a whopping 2.3%. But Adams never mentioned the base numbers in these categories. If 5 people were murdered in 2021, and 4 the following year, that would be a decrease in murder by 20%. But overall, it really isn't much of a difference. So the base number is a very important factor to consider.
In 2021 there were 485 murders in the Big Apple, a 4% increase from 2020 which had 468 murders. So if there were that many killings in 2021, and there was a decrease of 10%, that still translates to about 437 murders. Do the math.

In 2011 the city saw 515 murders, according to the police data. While today's numbers are significantly lower, does that really mean that Gotham is a safe city?

It's the people in power who are the least likely to suffer a crime in most cases. They have people with guns and walls protecting them, and want to take away your guns. Does the word 'hypocrisy' come to mind?
Not so surprisingly, Adams' remarks came just before two shootings in Brooklyn Wednesday in which a 42-year-old man was shot multiple times and died at the scene.
Violent guns in Philadelphia and Chicago, two Democrat-run metropolises where guns are outlawed, somehow didn't get the memo that they were not allowed to be used and these guns caused bloodshed over the Labor Day weekend.
The Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) recorded 38 total gun violence victims between Friday and Monday, including nine who died from their wounds, authorities told Fox News Digital.
"The amount of violent incidents over this holiday weekend is devastating and unacceptable," Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney tweeted Monday.
What does he mean by "unacceptable?" If he isn't going to accept it, what is his plan to stop those violent guns? Or by not accepting it, does he mean that he doesn't accept the fact that people were shot?
"Philadelphians deserve to be safe in their communities. My deepest sympathies go out to all those affected by this senseless violence, especially families that have lost loved ones."
Well, now that we know his deepest sympathies, as opposed to his shallowest sympathies, go out to all those affected by senseless violence, that helps a lot.
One Sunday shooting incident that occurred around 5:45 p.m. at the intersection of Market Street and 10th Street — just blocks away from Philadelphia City Hall — resulted in the arrests of five juveniles along with their violent guns.
Police recovered two angry, illegal violent guns, including one with an illegal extended magazine, in their pursuit of the juveniles, according to PPD Commissioner Danielle Outlaw.
"Those who take part in violent behavior will be apprehended; our residents and visitors will not be intimidated, and ours [sic] officers will not be deterred," Outlaw said in a Sunday tweet.
On Monday, six people were illegally shot on the 700 block of Russell St in North Philadelphia. Two of the six victims died, and two are in critical condition, according to PPD. This also sounds unacceptable.
"Two people have died, two are in critical condition, and two are expected to recover physically," the Department said in a Monday tweet. "The violence happening in our city is unacceptable, and we ask the public to not only keep the victims in your prayers, but also to share information about crime in your neighborhoods."
There is a $20,000 reward being offered for information leading to the suspect involved in Monday's deadly shooting. Law enforcement asks that anyone with information to call 911 or 215-686-TIPS.
Homicides in Philadelphia are up 3%, with 373 total homicide victims recorded so far this year compared to 361 at the same time last year.
In Chicago, police recorded 55 total shooting victims, including nine who died from their injuries, between Friday and Monday evening. Another homicide victim was fatally stabbed, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The total number of shooting victims decreased, however, by 23% compared to Labor Day Weekend last year.
In one Sunday incident, four men between the ages of 18 and 20 were shot when "an unknown offender approached the victims, produced a handgun, and fired shots." One of the 18-year-old victims was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
In the Windy City, Chicago Police Department (CPD) Superintendent David Brown bragged about "significant declines in gun violence in the city" during a Tuesday press conference. He noted that there has been 605 few violent guns shooting people so far this year and that homicides are down 15% with shootings down 19%.
Meanwhile, almost 1,000 carjacking arrests have been made in 2022 and cops have recovered 8,765 guns this year, proving the old saying that when guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns.
"Our job is never done," Brown said Tuesday. "There's not a day that we don't risk our lives for all of you in this city, and we'll continue that."
Last year, Philadelphia saw record homicide numbers, while Chicago recorded a 25-year-high.
Thus far, 463 people have been murdered in Chicago compared to 545 at the same time last year. So the Democrats see this as a positive thing like they do with the federal budget when they lower the rate of debt rather than actually reducing it.

And as I write this post, there's a crazed gunman in Memphis shooting and killing people and live-streaming it on Facebook. Our criminal justice system has become more sympathetic to the criminal than it has for the victim. We even have an idiot Vice President who crowdfunded bail money for a killer who then went out and committed another crime.
Tyree Moorehead should have declared it a "No Shoot Me Zone." A former gangbanger, ex-con who allegedly shot 20 people when he was a mere kid, was shot on the mean streets of Baltimore, just around the corner from his home, in spite of the fact that he spray painted "No Shoot Zone" on someone else's property.
Moorehead, who goes by the name "Yo Tyree," told WJZ-TV, "I was shot three times. Bullet went through my jaw and my neck and one is still in my back.”
The interview with reporters took place after he checked himself out of the hospital AMA [against medical advice]. He was still wearing hospital scrubs and hairnet and still had a hep-lock IV on his hand that told the world that he isn't the brightest light in the drawer.
He admitted to Fox reporters that he "just walked out" of the hospital and wasn't actually discharged.
Yo Tyree told WJZ-TV reporters that he guesses he shot about 20 dudes when he was 13 to 15 years old. But his shooting people career came to an end when he was 15 when he was engaged in a shootout with Baltimore Police. He was captured and spend the next 18 years in prison after confessing to attempted murder.
Now the 46-year-old told reporters that he believes his background as a fine young scumcrumpet gives him street creds with his fellow gang shooters, but they shot him anyway.
He also described a recent incident in May in which over 60 rounds were fired on Rose Street, wounding three people and killing one, which is why gangsters who hold their gun sideways like in the movies, shoot like crap.
“I actually heard every shot and when I came around here, it was still smoking,” he said. Months later, Moorehead was shot on the very same street, in spite of the enormous rapport he has with the gang members.
His activism can be described as unorthodox and rather idiotic. He says that places where shootings have occurred are "sacred" spaces. [They sure as hell aren't safe spaces.] He believes that if he spray paints someone else's property "no shoot zones," this will ensure that no further killing will happen there.
He also suggested that a solution would be to pay murderers to stop killing people, a belief that only a total fool would harbor. [But he means well, and that's all that matters, except to the victims' families.]
“I can relate to the shooters, guess what they want? They want money,” he told WBFF.
“See, I go straight to the shooters. That’s who my rapport is with. My rapport is with the shooters,” Moorehead said to WJZ. “I can look them in the eyes and say, ‘Homie, I was shooting, too.’ But, what I didn’t have was a me back then.
“So the idea is to say No Shoot Zone and the shooters listen,” Moorehead claimed. He explained the exceptions to his rule: “Gang member against gang member? Drug dealer against drug dealer? There’s not much I can do. That’s why there’s a lot of shootings I don’t put zones up for.”

New York City, like Chicago and other Democratic-run major cities, has become more dangerous to residents than Afghanistan was in the last few years before we pulled out.
Overnight, there were seven people shot and one was killed in the span of only three hours. The shootings occurred in Coney Island, Flatbush, Far Rockaway, East New York, and Long Island City.
One 26-year-old man was shot in the face in Long Island City and is in critical condition Monday morning.
No arrests have been made.
Just days ago, seven other people were shot, one of whom is a 12-year-old girl, all in an hour time span that had followed a deadly night that had 11 shooting or stabbing incidents within a six-hour span.
Since June, crime in the Big Apple has been increasing with NYPD stats showing a rise of over 30% compared to last year.
Democrat Mayor Eric Adams, a former NYPD captain, has done a yeoman's job of doing nothing but talking about the problem, but to his credit, he is critical of the "catch, release, and repeat" policy of the previous administrations and the total incompetence of former mayor, Comrade Bill de Blasio.
Adams is vowing to get the growing problem under control, but he has been as effective as a sump pump at the beach.

Twenty-five people in strict gun-control Chicago were shot Friday through 8:33 p.m. Saturday night by violent guns. One of the victims died of his wounds, NBC 5 reported.
Chicago's Democratic Mayor Lori Lightfoot condemned the guns and the people who allowed those guns to be pointed and fired.
The fatal shooting happened after a fight broke out at a party early Saturday morning and a gun shot a 34-year-old man who was then transported to a hospital where he died.
The Mayor has called for all those people with illegal guns to stop allowing them to shoot people and to turn them over to police who will not ask questions.

WGN-TV noted three of weekend’s gun shooting injuries occurred outside a church during a funeral Saturday afternoon at around 2:30 p.m. "near 108th and S State streets. A gray vehicle rolled past the church and a gun inside the vehicle began to fire. Three biological men, ages 20, 25, and 37, were struck by bullets and were taken to the hospital. All are in reasonably good condition but there have been no guns arrested thus far.
The Sun-Times notes that 362 people were killed by evil, illegal guns in Chicago January 1, 2022, through July 23, 2022. No legal guns were involved in these shootings but Mayor Lightfoot is not allowing that fact to stand in the way of attempting to disarm every law abiding American.
Thirty-five people were shot, five of them fatally, over the Fourth of July weekend in Chicago. That's more people shot and killed in Chicago than our military troops the last 2 years in Afghanistan.
One fatal victim was a 24-year-old woman. She was killed Friday night during a shootout between two men in Chicago's Chinatown district, where one of the shooters and two others were wounded in the incident, according to ABC 7. The woman was taken to Stroger Hospital where she died of her injuries.

Four more were wounded on Friday night in West Garfield Park when a man opened fire on the group of people because he had a bad day.
A 30-year-old man was fatally shot in the head on the city's South Side early Saturday, with police saying they had no suspects in custody.
A 90-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition. Cops have a person of interest in the shooting.
Useless Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot held a press conference to condemn the shootings and for once, expressed appreciation for the city's police officers, after she and dozens of Democratic mayors in major cities did what they could to defund the police.
"We need to remember every single day on every single watch, our brave men and women of the Chicago Police Department are out there literally risking their lives for our safety," two-faced Lightfoot said during a Friday press conference, reminding residents to "say thank you" to officers.

UPDATE: The total number of casualties as of this writing 10:45 a.m., in Chicago is now up to 54 with 7 fatalities. The youngest is a 10-year-old boy who was in his bedroom when he was shot. Also, there have been attacks on police with fists and fireworks being aimed at police. It looks as if the Windy City really blows.
Unarmed security guards will be placed on Chicago public transit to help stem the flow of violent crime. The security guards will undergo a rigorous training course titled: "Use Your Words."
In just one night last week Chicago saw three people injured and one person killed in multiple shootings, but the unarmed force known as: "Thug Whisperers" will be on the job and the city will be as safe as a swaddled infant. Oh, by the way, the incidents just mentioned didn't even make the headlines because it was too common a night and not enough people were shot to grab front page.
Public transportation in Chicago has become as dangerous as a midnight ride in Riyadh, Afghanistan during the Taliban's Ramadan celebration. The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) is under tough criticism because the buses and trains have become extremely dangerous, especially at night.
So the CTA got on the case like Paw Patrol and hired 300 unarmed guards to ride the lines.
Things had gotten so bad that even Rep. Alexandria Obviously-Commie had something to say about the situation.
"I think the idea of putting unarmed security guards on public transportation is not the appropriate way to go," she began. "I'm certain the CTA, if they tried hard enough, could find people with arms who would do a better job at providing security for the passengers, especially passengers of color who are affected the most by violence. Those guys running the CTA are stupid and racist."
Robberies, stabbings, and shootings are among the violent attacks that have been reported in the CTA system within just the last month. The CTA is looking to hire staff just to clean up the blood and occasional body parts that litter the trains and buses.
Some riders believe that having unarmed people looking out for them is better than nothing.
"I feel like they've sort of got my back," a rider, we'll call him Jimmy, told CNN+. "Just yesterday this dude comes into the car I'm ridin' in on near Division. The guy stands in the middle of the car; it's just me and a few other's tryin' to get to work, and he yells, 'Empty your f**kin' pockets or I'll shoot you a**holes in your f**kin' heads.'
"I was scared, who wouldn't be, but suddenly this other guy stands up and announces that he's with the Chicago unarmed security unit called Thug Whisperers and said that he would like to talk about what got the guy to this point in his life where he robs people and scares them with a violent gun. He goes, 'My good sir; you know you don't really want to do this with your life. These people are innocent and just want to go to work and feel safe. Put down that gun.
"And while he's bullsh**ting to the thug, I'm making my way to the door that I know is gonna open up at the next stop. And the guy goes on with, 'Please sir, put that instrument of violence away and let's talk about you, for a change. I bet nobody ever spent the time with you to discuss your feelings.'
"The train comes to a stop and just as I'm about to run out, the guy shoots the unarmed Thug Whisperer in the leg. He may have got him in the balls, but I didn't wait to find out. I make book and I'm gone. If it wasn't for that unarmed security guard distracting him, I might not be here to talk about it."

Fun Facts: from January through March, 2022, crime in Chicago trains increased by 40% over the same time last year and over 55% over the same three months in 2018.

A 15-year-old kid was shot and killed and at least eight others were wounded in a crazy night of wild shootings across the city on Memorial Day.
The dead child and a 30-year-old man were found on the corner of Lexington Avenue and East 123 Street in East Harlem, according to police.
The boy, who wasn’t identified pending family notification, had been shot in the torso and was pronounced dead at Harlem Hospital.
The other man was struck in the right knee and was in stable condition but in horrific pain.
Earlier in the night, four people were wounded when shots rang out in Bushwick, Brooklyn, at around 8 p.m., according to the sources. This was black-on-black crime that the mainstream media doesn't mention and Black Lives Matter doesn't care a fig about.
Three of the victims were taken to hospitals, and one walked into the nearby 83rd Precinct station house. Their conditions were unknown.
The shooting was being probed as possibly gang-related, one source said.
On Staten Island, two men were shot shortly after 8 p.m. near 231 Steuben Street.
A 19-year-old was hospitalized after being hit once in the arm, and a 20-year-old was transported to the same facility with a leg wound. Their injuries are not considered serious. The shooter fled into a wooded area nearby.
After 11 p.m. in the Bronx, a man was shot near East 157th Street and Courtlandt Avenue, sources said.
New York City is a veritable shooting gallery. This is what you get when you have politicians who have armed security or are otherwise unaffected by street violence.

Rep. Ilhan "I Am My Brother's Sleeper" Omar (D-MN) was quite upset with the Columbus, Ohio police officer who saved the life of a young Black woman who was seconds away from being stabbed by a teenage girl wielding a large knife.
Never a person to let a tragedy go to waste, Omar used her eulogy during Daunte Wright’s funeral on Thursday to discuss her two favorite topics: herself and how bad America's police are, no matter who they save, even when it's just themselves, from violence.
Omar, a woman who married her brother, then another man, then another who she helped finance with the donations she received when running for Congress, spoke of the death of the female perpetrator, Ma' Khia Bryant, the teen who was attempting [allegedly] to kill another teen with a knife. She called Bryant's death "a tragedy" because it was and cannot be disputed.
As she stood to address the congregation, Omar did her Islamic greeting and extolled fellow race hustler, Al Sharptongue, saying to this garbage heap of a human being, "Thank you, Reverend Al Sharpton[gue], for being here, and for that beautiful eulogy. Most of us in this room, including myself, look at you as a guardian, and are blessed to be in your presence.” She then proceeded to kiss his ring.
“And may Daunte Wright serve as a guardian for all of us,” Omar said, as people in the congregation did all they could to keep from rolling their eyes. “But as a member of the Congressional Black Caucus — as one of the youngest and newest members of the Congressional Black Caucus — I also have guardians: Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and our chairwoman, Joyce Beatty, serve as guardians for me and many of my colleagues.”
“Joyce Beatty was going to be here and speak on our behalf as the chairwoman of our caucus; but just like we’ve been visited by tragedy here in Minnesota often, she, in Columbus, Ohio, was visited by a tragedy of a young woman whose life was taken by Columbus Police.”
An allegedly emotional Omar then read the resolution of congressional condolences filed by Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) on behalf of Wright, which quoted portions of the Book of Revelation in the New Testament. She also presented Wright’s parents with an unburnt American flag that had been flown over the U.S. Capitol in Wright’s memory.
Wright resisted arrest on April 11, 2021 as he was stopped for an expired tag on his vehicle and it was discovered that he had a warrant out for his arrest.
So let's see who Daunte Wright was and why he the police attempted to arrest him.
In the first case against him, he was accused of carrying a weapon without a permit and fleeing from the cops. [Documents filed under 27-CR-21-4400.]
A complaint filed March 4 said Wright had an encounter with police June 30 in Minneapolis. Officers responded to the call and found him in a car with other people. He ran and was chased by cops but got away. A loaded handgun was found in the car.
Wright was due to attend a court hearing via Zoom on April 2 but he did not attend and a warrant was issued for his arrest. This was the warrant police were acting on.
According to Arthur Martinez, a public defender representing Wright, neither he nor Wright ever saw the document.
Wright had a second case in which he was charged with aggravated robbery.[Documents filed under 27-CR-19-29850.]
In December 2019, Wright and another man were charged with first-degree aggravated robbery. They were accused of forcing their way into a woman's home and trying to steal $820, her rent money, from her at gunpoint.
Wright was also accused of breaking his bail conditions last July. Documents alleged that Wright was in possession of a gun and had failed to contact his bail officer.
In the shooting incident, former police officer Kim Potter shot Wright with what she apparently believed was her stun gun, but turned out to be her Glock 9mm, killing him as he tried to flee. She has been formally charged with second-degree manslaughter and has since resigned.
Like all shootings, this one was a tragedy, but a tragedy that could have simply been avoided if Daunte Wright did not resist arrest.
The shooting of Bryant has sparked outrage because no matter what the circumstances are, the police are deemed to be at fault, not the person committing the crime. In this case, Ma'Khia Bryant was about to stab another Black woman with a knife, as she yelled, “I’m going to stab the f*** out of you, b****,” as she lunged toward the girl before she was shot.

What was the police officer supposed to do in that moment of time? Some idiots, like Joy Behar, say he should have shot in the air to warn her. And what if she didn't stop? Two girls would likely be dead.
Others say the officer should have shot her in the leg. And people take these people seriously.
This was a totally justified shooting, albeit a tragedy, as I see it. There was nothing the officer could have done differently and you will see that if you watch the video.
The truth is the left wants to get rid of local policing and replace it with federal cops. This will give the federal government even more power over the people and that's their dirty little secret.

The First Place Winner of the Nation's Worst Mayor of a Major City, Comrade Bill "My Real Name is Warren" de Blasio (D), does not blame the surge in gun violence over the weekend on the shooters who shot people, he blames the shootings on the Chinese Communist Wuhan coronavirus.

While pointing his finger elsewhere, he also defended the city's policing reforms and pretended to keep New York City "the safest big city in America." This is known in intellectual circles as complete bull crap.
The mayor, whose only accomplishment is his height, held a press conference Monday after at least eight people were killed and over 44 others shot and injured in a city with some of the country's toughest gun laws.
“I want to talk about what happened this weekend," the idiot began. "Many were out there celebrating, but we saw too much violence, and we have a lot of work to do to address it,” de Blasio said, while adding that “there is not one cause for something like this.”
He also never explained just what the right amount of violence is acceptable. Probably burning buildings, looting and destroying statues.
“This is directly related to coronavirus,” the idiot mayor said. “This is a very serious situation… As we’re getting into warmer and warmer weather, we’re feeling the effects of people being cooped up for months, the economy hasn’t restarted – we have a real problem here.”
Yeah, the virus. It's the virus. Oh, and Trump.
De Blasio vowed to “double down” to address the violence, which included shootings in Brooklyn, the Bronx and upper Manhattan, noting that it was going to take “neighborhood policing” as opposed to actual policing, and cooperation from clergy and elected officials.
I can hear the priest calling out to Johnny who's holed up in an abandoned building that Black Lives Matter burned down. "C'mon out, Johnny. Give it up--the coppers got the place surrounded."
"They'll never take me alive, Foddah," Johnny shouts back.
A social worker crouches behind Father McMannus and calls out to Johnny, "I know how this makes you feel. It's unfair how they treat you and I totally understand your situation. Tell me, what are you thinking now?"

“This is all hands on deck,” de Blasio cliched, while adding that the city has “been dealt a really tough hand.”
Yes, the city has been dealt a really tough hand, but they were playing Solitaire and elected a schmuck to run it while his wife, Chirlane McCray, launched ThriveNYC in 2015, taking $1 billion to fund a project to overhaul New York's mental health and substance abuse services. The program was criticized by Politico for having an "opaque budget" and "elusive metrics." To add to the brilliant leadership we are witnessing in the city, last month, the NYPD announced it was disbanding its anti-crime unit and reassigning hundreds of plainclothes officers to other divisions amid widespread criticism over the department’s handling of protesters. Commissioner Dermot Shea said roughly 600 plainclothes officers from the anti-crime unit would be reassigned to other teams where they can help the community get that cat out of the tree that grows in Brooklyn.
“We [became] the safest big city in America. We will keep that title,” de Blasio said. “We will not go back and that’s the work we will do together in New York City.”
He was referring to when Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg were mayor.

Four people have been shot in Sadiq Khan's gun-free London. You remember Khan--he's the cretin who wants to outlaw knives because of the recent stabbings that have taken place on his watch. How could these shootings possibly happen? Guns aren't allowed in the UK. The first victim was Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton, 17. He was shot and killed while playing football in Southwark on Saturday evening. A witness told the BBC that a number of shots were fired, one which nearly hit a woman and put a hole in a nearby window. Barton was described as a talented rapper by his godmother--he died later from his wounds. On Sunday, two younger boys, ages 13 and 15, were shot within minutes of each other in broad daylight in Wealdstone, northwest London. Both received head injuries and are in the hospital but neither are thought to be life-threatening. A local shopkeeper said the 13-year-old child was "lucky to be alive," as the bullet appeared to have grazed the back of his head. A bystander later flagged down police to assist a 22-year-old man who suffered a gunshot wound in the early evening. He was the last known victim of the weekend of violence in gun-free London, where other Londoners were allegedly enjoying a sunny Bank Holiday. The shooting occurred after UK politicians were having a hissy fit over President Trump's words concerning the high level of violence in London, when he spoke at the NRA conference. The surgeons at a London hospital which Trump compared to a "war zone" admitted he was correct about knife crime in London, but argued that guns were "no solution," obviously misunderstanding what Trump meant--he wasn't advocating for criminals to be given guns instead of knives [the surgeons said that knife wounds were easier to treat] he was advocating for law-abiding citizens to have the right to defend themselves with guns. Anyway, the shootings over the weekend in conjunction with statistical analysis show that gun crime in London has risen by 42 percent from 2015/16 to 2016/17. This tends to support the NRA adage: "When guns become outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." Tweet
The recent school shooting in Parkland, Florida is a horrific tragedy. And politicians will not allow any tragedy go to waste as the left immediately calls for tighter gun control . . . whatever that means, while conservatives want to know the facts before making any recommendations. It seems as if the left keeps calling for tighter gun restrictions but they don't offer anything concrete, and the truth is, in just about every mass shooting, gun control laws would not have prevented them. It also seems that in this case, the FBI really screwed up. They were told about the alleged shooter more than a month before he went on the rampage that killed 17 people and wounded 14. Former failed president Obama's words (above) are just as foolish. In fact, during his administration, when both the House and the Senate were in Democratic control, not one new measure on gun control was taken. There were plenty of shootings during his time in the White House but being a Democrat, he was able to skate past the situation. In February 2008 in his first year in office, there was a shooting on the 2nd in Kirkwood, Missouri by Charles Lee Thornton, 52, that killed five people at a city council meeting. On the 14th, in Dekalb, Illinois, Steven Kasmierczak, 27 shot and killed 5 people on the campus of Northern Illinois University before turning the semiautomatic weapon on himself. June 25, 2008 in Henderson, Kentucky, Wesley Neal Higdon, 25, killed 5 people at Atlantis Plastics Factory then killed himself. April 3, 2009, in Binghampton, New York, Jiverly Antares Wong, 41, a naturalized American citizen from Vietnam, shot and killed 14 people at the American Civic Association before killing himself. August 3, 2010 in Manchester, Connecticut, Omar Thornton, 34, shot and killed 8 people then killed himself. September 6, 2011 in Carson City, Nevada, Eduardo Sencion, 32, killed 4 people in an IHOP restaurant then killed himself. July 20, 2012 Aurora, Colorado, James Holmes, 25, shot and killed 12 people in a movie theater wounding many more. And so on, and so on, during the Obama years right up until the present. I do not blame Obama nor do I say he's complicit as leftists like to say about President Trump, but I do say that Obama did nothing to quell the situation while in office, and his heart had gone out so many times to the families of the victims, it's a wonder that he still has blood in his body. The blame game is foolish. Nobody, not on the left nor the right, want anything like this to happen. We all feel horrible and sad and nobody owns even a smidgeon of moral superiority over another. But don't tell us on the right side of the aisle that we need to do something and that we're to blame if we don't. Come up with ideas. What kind of gun control would prevent something like this from happening? What measures can be taken to help prevent this from happening? Perhaps we, as a nation, should take a close, hard look at Israeli schools where there is real security and no shootings. The Israelis are proactive in their school and airport security and it has prevented horrible tragedies like the Parkland from happening. Gun-free zones are ridiculous. They've become targets for people who want to shoot unarmed people. Perhaps a one-entrance school with armed security guards and teachers with real training can be part of the solution. If you see something and say something and it falls on deaf ears, then people will stop saying something. There's so much more we need to learn.
Six people were killed and 37 were wounded in the war zone known as Chicago this weekend. The attacks included two rifle homicides in Back of the Yards, nine people were shot in an incident in Lawndale, where the lawns are littered with casings, and there were double shootings on the River Walk and at 31st Street Beach. Thus far, there have been 275 homicides, but on the bright side, that's 9 fewer than last year. Only 1,520 people have been shot in Chicago this year, down 150 from last year, but still outpacing the American casualties in the entire Middle East. Last year was the most violent Chicago has seen in twenty years and everyone knows that only Barack Obama can be blamed for the mess he caused in his supposed 'home town.'
In Brighton Park, rifle shootings are the in thing--two people were murdered within 24 hours this past weekend. Rahm Emanuel, the 44th Mayor of the "Windy City" and leftist gun control advocate, isn't worried about the shootings. He has full, round-the-clock protection, as top politicians do. Since March of last year, no less than 20 people have been murdered and an additional 47 wounded in rifle shootings. Handguns are the typical 'weapon of choice' for the gangbangers, but now that they're using rifles, this should get anti-Second Amendment leftists going after those weapons as well. But gun control only works for the law abiding person who turns his weapon in, while the bad guys don't and get a huge advantage. So what's Chicago to do? It isn't so much about gun control--not when a 13-year-old girl was stabbed and beaten to death in the Sheridan Park neighborhood Sunday night--it's about the culture, the lack of both parents in the house, the lack of structure and some discipline coupled with love. Two more people were killed and eight were wounded in an attack at the site of a memorial for a guy who was killed earlier Sunday in the Brighton Park neighborhood, according to police. Chicago police First Deputy Superintendent Kevin Navarro described the attack to the media as "another brazen act of gang violence." The victims were taking part in a memorial for Danial Cardova who had been killed at the 2600 block of West 46th Place earlier in the same day when two attackers fired rifles from a nearby alleyway. Deputy Chief Kevin Ryan said police were hitting the area hard in their investigation. "We have a fairly good idea who we're looking for," he said. "We have a fairly good idea of the conflict involved and right now we're trying to saturate the area." The Alderman of the 15th district, Raymond Lopez, surveyed the shooting scene and expressed his frustration with the third rifle shooting in a week. He mostly blamed the "assault rifles" for the problem and called on neighbors to be vigilant in reporting criminal activity. "The wakeup call has been here. It's time to act. It's time for each and every one of us to start looking at what's going on on our block, identifying who is a gang member, who's selling drugs and who is supporting them in our communities," Lopez said is a string of cliches that would obviously make a hockey player smile when being interviewed between periods.

If Chicago just got their wakeup call, they must have wakened from the dead. More people are shot in the Windy City than in Afghanistan. In this latest shooting, a man of about 25 died on the scene, and a 29-year-old woman died of her wounds in hospital, officials said. Eight additional gunshot victims were being treated at various Chicago hospitals. There were plenty more shootings in Chicago on Sunday alone.
