NPR, PBS on hotseat--their leaders defend the indefensible

Imagine this: Wednesday rolls around, and the House DOGE subcommittee decides it’s time to drag "public" broadcasting into the hot seat. Why? Because NPR and PBS have been happily cashing taxpayer checks while pretending half the country doesn’t exist.

Under a relentless GOP grilling, NPR CEO Katherine Maher—who’s clearly been practicing for the “oops, my bad” Olympics—admits it was a "mistake" to shrug off the Hunter Biden laptop story like it was a bad TikTok trend. She also wrings her hands over some pre-NPR tweets where she called Trump a "deranged racist sociopath" and mused that looting’s no biggie (it’s just "counterproductive," you see).

Oh, and if reports are true, NPR’s newsroom has zero Republicans? She says that’d be "disturbing." Uh-huh. Sure, Kathy, as if you didn't know.

Now, how much airtime did this spicy little showdown get on ABC, CBS, and NBC? Zilch point pooh. Nada. Crickets. Not a peep on the evening news, not a whisper on the morning gabfests the next day. You’d think a hearing with this much red meat would at least get a nod, right? You would be wrong.

But don’t worry—the Big Three weren’t too busy to obsess over "Signalgate."

Yep, Trump’s crew chatting up a Houthi strike on the encrypted Signal app—while letting Trump-hating leftist journo Jeffrey Goldberg, editor of The Atlantic and PBS’s "Washington Week" host, eavesdrop—was apparently the story of the century. If he gave a fig about the country, he would have immediately told the host on the Signal meeting that somehow they screwed up by having him on. Instead, he quietly took notes and later reported on it. As it turned out, the Houthi strike went without a hitch in spite of it all.

ABC’s "World News Tonight" and "NBC Nightly News" trotted out footage of CIA boss John Ratcliffe and DNI Tulsi Gabbard sweating under Democrat questions about the breach. NBC’s Lester Holt hyped it as a "bombshell text" to kick off his broadcast—because of course he did. Over on "CBS Evening News," Ed O’Keefe was practically salivating for scalps, asking if heads would roll. He even roped in Goldberg and Obama’s old Defense Sec Chuck Hagel to fan the flames.

By the end, O’Keefe noted the Senate Armed Services Committee’s bipartisan call for a probe, with GOP chair Roger Wicker grumbling that it’s "a shame this security question is distracting the public from the success of that mission." A shame? You don’t say.

The networks’ playbook is predictable as a sitcom rerun: bury Trump wins, amplify Trump stumbles.

So let’s dig into the PBS-NPR hearing they conveniently ignored: NPR’s Maher finally copped to the Hunter Biden laptop fumble. Back in 2020, they dismissed it as a "pure distraction"—now, with GOP heat on and taxpayer bucks at stake, she’s all, "Our current editorial leadership thinks that was a mistake, as do I." Breaking news, folks: NPR admits a screw-up! Mark your calendars.

Maher also did a mea culpa on her unhinged tweets—like calling Trump a "deranged racist sociopath" and saying America’s "addicted to white supremacy." She’s "evolved," she claims in the style of Barack Obama on gays in the military, but those hot takes fit NPR’s woke vibe like a glove. Bet they were on her résumé under "qualifications."

PBS prez Paula Kerger and Maher swore up and down their news is "nonpartisan and unbiased." Then Texas Rep. Pat Fallon dropped some NewsBusters truth bombs: "News Hour" slapped "far-right" labels 162 times but only used "far-left" six times. PBS’s 2024 convention coverage was 72% negative for the GOP, 88% positive for Dems. Kerger’s response? "Never heard of those studies." Great prep work, Paula, if you're being honest.

Remember NPR editor Uri Berliner’s exposé? He found 87 Democrats and zero Republicans in NPR’s D.C. newsroom. Another zero.

Maher called it "disturbing" if true, but after a year on the job, has she hired a single non-lefty? Nope. Berliner wasn’t even GOP, and they still canned him.

GOP reps pointed out NPR interviewed Dem Rep. Adam Schiff 25 times during the Russia hoax—some say 32, but who’s counting? Meanwhile, Rep. James Comer, the Republican Oversight chair, got zero chats about his Biden probe. Fallon asked Maher about it; she drew a blank. Zero’s the answer, Kathy. The Sunday shows pull the same stunt.

This isn’t new. For 50 years, broadcast news has hyped Democrat hearings—Watergate, Iran-Contra, Anita Hill, January 6—like they’re Super Bowls, while GOP-led ones get tossed in the shredder. PBS and NPR had to cover this DOGE hearing, but they weren’t happy about it. NPR’s David Folkenflik whined it was more about "scoring points than finding facts." Pot, meet kettle.

The networks? They’ll skip any fact that messes with their narrative. It’s not about truth—it’s about winning. And they wonder why we don’t trust ‘em.

And this has been where our tax money has been going without our permission.

"Thanks for reading! If you’d like to toss a coffee my way, check out my Buy Me A Coffee—means a lot!"

Defense Budget Blues and Bergdahl

Chuck Hagel said that he would respond to questions about why the Pentagon did not give Congress the required 30-day notice prior to the prison trade of the traitor Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban scumcrumpets. This is required by law according to the National Defense Security Act.

But dude, that was like a year ago and the Pentagon only released emails that provided as much information as Hillary's emails. They were so redacted with blacked out words that the toner cartridges had to be changed every four minutes when photocopying them.

The head of the House Armed Services Committee, Mac Thornberry (R-Tx)  is threatening to ask the committee to withhold funding for defense spending if the stonewalling continues. GOP lawmakers will attempt to lock down $500 million until the Pentagon gives up all the documents to this committee for its investigation. This amounts to about a quarter of the defense secretary's office budget, so it isn't about paperclips and toner.

Thornberry plans to introduce a provision to the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act to withhold the money from Defense Secretary Ash Carter's budget until all emails are turned over unredacted.

One email was of a Pentagon public affairs officers telling a defense attorney what information that they planned to release to the press about the transfer of the scumcrumpets from Gitmo.

Of course, all the relevant parts were redacted.

Along with removal of the redactions, the committee demands all documents be handed over that relate to the DoJ's recommendations over the Bergdahl swap. The committee argued that key interagency communications on the trade had not been produced. (I would check Hillary's server. It probably has nothing on it related to this case but who cares?)

A source closely involved with the investigation said, "We have no idea what percent of the emails we have. It's taken a year."

I can hear the response from the White House spokes socialist: "That's the point, dude. It's ancient history. We have to move on; let it go."

Fighting the Real Enemy of the World: Surprise!

In a New York Times article by Coral Davenport ("Pentagon Signals Security Risks of Climate Change," Oct. 13, 2014) it states that the Pentagon released a report asserting conclusively that the real threat to national security is climate change, and then maybe terrorism, disease, poverty and food shortages follow in the rear. The report predicts the increasing demand for military disaster responses will not be foreign military threats, but will be extreme weather.

Hopefully there are top secret efforts being made to develop better umbrellas and galoshes so we can prepare for wet snowballs from ISIS.

But seriously (sort of) the report draws out plans for how the military will deal with rising sea levels and more violent storms. And if that isn't arrogant enough, the military will "fight" mother nature when she bestows widespread droughts upon us.

Even Secretary of Defense, Chuck-Duh-I-Have-No-Idea-Hagel spoke to defense ministers in Peru on Monday about the report causing one minister from an undisclosed country, to scream and run in panic. It is rumored that he soiled himself from the fear Chuck chucked at him.

The "global warming" con game began with Al Jazeera Gore, but when it became obvious that he didn't know what he was talking about (his Nobel Peace Prize proved that) it then became "climate change."

Sunday Brain Flushings--just sayin'

Marine Corps (pronounced "Core," Mr. Obama) Sergeant Andrew Tahmooressi is still in a Mexican prison after making a wrong turn at the border. The administration has yet to lift a finger to free him or even get involved on the periphery.

The American pastor Saeed Abenini is still in an Iranian prison and it has now been two years today since being incarcerated by the Shi'ite Muslims of Iran who say he was proselytizing Christianity. The Obama administration has done nothing to pressure this terrorist state to free him.

Russia invades Ukraine and Vladimir Putin wags his finger at the U.S. saying we have no right to invade a sovereign nation (implying that only he has that right). We hear crickets in the White House.

Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel cannot even name the head of the Syrian rebels who we plan to supply with military arms and equipment at the cost of half a billion dollars from the taxpayers.

Attorney General Eric Holder was held in contempt of Congress and nothing was done about it. He refused to prosecute the New Black Panthers over voter intimidation that took place in Philadelphia during the last presidential election. We still don't know the true details of Fast and Furious, the IRS, and Benghazi, but Holder has just resigned with impunity.

The Fort Hood shooter, Nidal Hassan, killed 13 soldiers and an unborn child, screamed "Allahu Akbar" ("Allah is great") as he fired at unarmed servicemen and women. The incident was labeled "workplace violence" by the Obama administration.

It looks like the same thing is playing out over the attack by a Muslim convert who tried to convert his co-workers to Islam in Moore, Oklahoma. Failing that, he returned to the place of business where he was recently fired, shouted Islamic slogans (I'd put my money on "Allahu Akbar") beheaded a defenseless woman, stabbed another woman repeatedly and was stopped from killing her and others by a hero exercising his Second Amendment right.

This leads me to ask the question: why did Obama invoke the name of a controversial Muslim cleric, Sheikh bin Bayyah, at his speech at the U.N.? The State Department had previously apologized for doing the same thing and removed a tweet they sent out praising him and his ideas. In 2004, this so-called cleric called for the killing of American troops.

Finally, I'd like to know why are White House press reports first handed over to the White House for review and if they don't pass muster, are edited before being given to the other White House press reporters. Doesn't that sound like our country is becoming a dictatorship when freedom of the press isn't really free?

Golf Before Honor: POTUS Putts

President Obama inserted his opinion about a shooting in Florida where a "white Hispanic" man named George Zimmerman, shot a young black man by the name of Trayvon Martin. If Obama had a son, he would look like Trayvon, he said. This was a "white-Hispanic-on-black shooting.

Now Mr. Obama gets involved in a shooting in Ferguson, MO. where a white cop shot a black man. In fact, the Reviled Al Sharpton, that race-baiting bag of sparrow farts, was at the town of Ferguson in order to stir up racial tensions. The Rev. knows how to stir up racial tension even when the person he's doing it for is a liar (see Brawley, Tawana). But Obama got involved because it was a "white-on-black" shooting, just like Sharptongue.

When it comes to the military, our POTUS always seems to take the wrong side of any situation.

Bowe Bergdahl deserted his post and was taken captive by the Taliban. Bergdahl wrote home about how much he hated the USA, and somehow the enemy got better at killing Americans with Bergdahl in their camp.

In a post written by Jon Williams on June 4, 2014, he gives his thoughts about Bergdahl. The post is entitled: "I WAS THERE: My perspective on Bowe Bergdahl" (and the post can be found at: http://www.iamatexan.com/).

Williams, an Army veteran, worked as a contractor to the 25th Infantry Division, (the same Division as Bergdahl).

He writes: "A few days ago, Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel took the stage at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan and excitedly started with what he thought would be a big applause line. "We got him back!" he exclaimed.

"Silence.

"Not. Even. One. Clap."

Williams writes that numerous White House leaks revealed that Obama and his administration thought Americans would be elated by the news and would be a great moment in Obama's second term. Williams writes that the Obama team is clueless about the military because soldiers don't see a deserter as a "brother in arms."

Maj. Gen. Harold Greene
"When a soldier deserts his post, when he writes that he is ashamed to be an American, when he gives the enemy secrets (and he did), he is no longer "one of us." He is a traitor. He is not a brother-in-arms," Williams writes, and goes on to explain how Bergdahl is lower than whale excrement, which is at the bottom of the ocean. (He didn't actually say it those words, so I improvised.)

But, as you know, Obama met with the parents of Bowe Bergdahl. It looked like an Occupy White House meeting as the traitor's father, Robert, dressed like a slob, wore a nerd-nob ponytail hairdo, and spoke Arabic to his traitorous kid as Obama hugged his wife, Jani who left her Che tee-shirt at home for the occasion. They did not, however, take a selfie, nor, do I suspect, a shower.

Meanwhile, Major General Harold Green was laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. He was killed by a devout Muslim and is the highest ranking American serviceman to be killed in the Afghan war.

Crickets in the White House.

People wondered why the Commander-in-Chief didn't attend the funeral of such a high ranking officer while he made the time to fuss over a traitor whose spelling would make a 5th grader cringe.

Journalist Byron York confirmed that Mr. Obama was busy golfing at the Vineyard Golf Club at the time of the funeral. He made an A-hole in one.

Two things for certain, President Obama sucks at golf but sucks even more as a Commander-in-Chief. It is unacceptable and outrageous that he snubbed the General's funeral. Maybe he didn't know about the murder of the General because he didn't watch the story on the news like the rest of us folks.

The Peacemaker Military Budget by Colt

Sometimes a good old-fashion analogy can clarify a situation better than a long, technical explanation. This post is about the proposed military budget cuts just announced by Chuck Hagel, the Secretary of Defense. What follows is an analogy of using a famous gun, the Colt .45 Peacemaker to represent the US military complex.

Imagine the entire military establishment is a Colt .45 Peacemaker, the Gun that Won the West. This gun, also known as the Single Action Army, SAA Model P Peacemaker, M1873, is a single action revolver and holds six cartridges. It was designed for the U.S. government and was the military standard service revolver until 1892.
