Nexstar’s Still Shunning Kimmel’s Smirkfest, Even After Disney’s All-Clear

Well, folks, the late-night clown car is back, but not everyone's ready to buy a ticket to the circus. 

Nexstar Media Group, which runs 32 ABC affiliate stations, is keeping Jimmy Kimmel Live! on the bench, despite Disney cowardly waving the green flag for its return. You'd think a corporate giant like Disney could strong-arm everyone into compliance, but Nexstar's not budging, not yet, anyway. And honestly, it's refreshing to see someone stand their ground against the Hollywood sanctimony machine.

Nexstar dropped the hammer in a statement Tuesday, saying, "We made a decision last week to preempt 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' following what ABC referred to as Mr. Kimmel's 'ill-timed and insensitive' comments at a critical time in our national discourse. We stand by that decision pending assurance that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets we serve." 

So, Kimmel's mouth got him in trouble, and we're not here for it until he learns to play nice. They added that Kimmel's show can still be streamed on Disney's platforms, while their stations will stick to local news and programming that actually matters to their viewers. Smart move, less sanctimonious snark, more real-world relevance.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, which controls 30 ABC affiliates, is also keeping Kimmel's smug mug off their airwaves. Their statement was equally no-nonsense: "Beginning Tuesday night, Sinclair will be preempting 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' across our ABC affiliate stations and replacing it with news programming. Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show's potential return." Sounds like they aren't holding their breath for Kimmel to suddenly become a beacon of civility.

This whole clusterfrack kicked off when Kimmel, in his infinite wisdom, decided to weigh in on the tragic assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on September 10. Kirk, a 31-year-old father of two little girls, was fatally shot in the neck by 22-year-old Tyler Robinson during a college event.

Robinson, reportedly linked to a gender confused partner, allegedly confessed via text messages, according to the FBI. Kimmel, never one to let facts get in the way of a good narrative, went on a rant last Monday, accusing conservatives of hitting "new lows" by trying to "characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it." 

Classy, Jimmy. Nothing says "thoughtful discourse" like baselessly smearing a grieving conservative base while a family buries their loved one. It is definitely time for conservatives to consider boycotting his sponsors now that he's going back on air.

The backlash was swift. Disney yanked Kimmel's show last Wednesday after Nexstar and Sinclair pulled it from their stations, and even the FCC's Brendan Carr called Kimmel's remarks "some of the sickest conduct," hinting at potential consequences. Kimmel, doubling down like a true Tinseltown titan, reportedly told execs he wouldn’t apologize. The left cried "free speech!" while conservatives pointed out that falsely tying Kirk's killer to MAGA wasn’t free speech; it was reckless defamation.

Disney announced Monday that Kimmel, [who is also known for his blackface when he did a Karl Malone imitation] is back on ABC Tuesday night, is likely to address the controversy with his trademark smirk and zero self-awareness.

But Nexstar and Sinclair aren't going along with their crap, and good for them. 

Nexstar, the biggest local TV broadcasting group in the U.S., reaches 220 million people across 116 markets. They're not some small-time operation, they have real clout, and they're using it. Just last month, they inked a $6.2 billion deal to acquire Tegna, which will expand their reach and boost political ad revenue in key election markets like Phoenix and Atlanta. That deal is still pending FCC approval, but it shows Nexstar's focused on real priorities, not Kimmel's ego trip.

Clay Travis, the OutKick founder, weighed in on The Will Cain Show, and you can bet he didn't mince words about ABC's handling of this fiasco. Kimmel's return might thrill the blue-check crowd, but with Nexstar and Sinclair holding firm, it's clear not everyone is ready to forgive and forget. Maybe Jimmy should take a cue from the affiliates and focus on "respectful, constructive dialogue" instead of cheap shots. 

But hey, I'm not holding my breath.

Top Dems Pelosi, AOC and others, claim ignorance on alleged Nike Youth Transgender Athlete study

Well, well, well, here's Nike tripping over its own swoosh. About a month ago, OutKick dropped the bombshell that the sportswear behemoth allegedly bankrolled a study on “transgender” youth athletes—yep, kids, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, the whole nine yards. Since then? Crickets from Nike. Not a peep, not a press release, nada. You’d think a company that loves plastering “Just Do It” on everything would at least say something.

 
But Nike’s not the only one playing mute. The Democrats, those champions of “progress,” have also zipped their lips tighter than a pair of skinny jeans. When OutKick first broke the story, GOP heavyweights like Ted Cruz, Marsha Blackburn, and Tommy Tuberville didn’t hold back, roasting Nike for allegedly funding experiments on minors. But the Dems? OutKick reached out to the usual suspects—Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX), and California’s golden boy Gov. Gavin Newsom—and got nothing. Zilch. It’s like they saw our emails and hit “delete” faster than you can say “woke.”

So, OutKick said, “Fine, we’ll do it the hard way.” We packed our bags and headed to the swamp—er, Washington, D.C.—to ask these Dems face-to-face about Nike’s sketchy study. Spoiler alert: they didn’t exactly roll out the red carpet.

They tracked down Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), AOC, Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), Sarah McBride (D-DE), and Crockett. Let’s just say their responses were less “open dialogue” and more “run for the hills.” Pelosi, ever the master of evasion, claimed she “didn’t understand what [we] said.” Instead of, you know, asking for clarification like a normal human, she scurried off to some media-free zone like a kid dodging homework.
Jasmine Crockett? She wouldn’t even let them get a question out. Just a hard “nope” and she was gone.

 
Sarah McBride, the Dem who thinks he's a woman, gave the ol’ “running late” excuse after an aide chimed in with “we have to go back to the office.” McBride tossed in an “I’m sorry” as they bolted, but it felt about as genuine as a prostitute's climax.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries heard the question loud and clear but played dumb, saying he was “unfamiliar” with the Nike study. Unfamiliar? Sure, Hakeem. And I’m “unfamiliar” with pizza. Rather than ask what the deal was, he hightailed it to a restricted area faster than you can say “cover-up.”

Then there’s AOC, the queen of performative progressivism. OutKick caught her after an Energy & Commerce Committee meeting, patiently waiting while she snapped selfies with adoring fans in the hallway. When we finally got a chance to ask about the Nike study, she hit them with, “I haven’t heard anything about that and I don’t want to comment on anything I don’t have any background on.” Translation: “I’m not touching that with a ten-foot pole.”

They pushed a little further, asking her thoughts on biological males competing in women’s sports. Her response? “I’m on my way to vote.” Oh, how convenient. Funny how she had plenty of time to pose for pics but couldn’t spare ten seconds to answer a real question. Priorities, right?

While these Dems dodged harder than a linebacker avoiding a tackle, their offices screamed their allegiances loud and clear. Strolling through the Capitol, OutKick couldn’t help but notice the decor. GOP Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) had a giant Trump photo front and center, a nod to the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania last year. Nancy Mace (R-SC) rocked a banner touting her fight to protect women. Meanwhile, Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) flew her pro-Israel flag high.

 
But the Dems? Oh, they were all-in on the rainbow. Transgender flags were proudly displayed outside the offices of AOC, Pelosi, and Ilhan Omar (D-MN). AOC and Omar’s doors were also covered in post-it notes—probably from their fan club—gushing with gems like “Keep being you,” “Thank you for everything,” and “Don’t stop fighting.” Fighting for what, exactly? Apparently not for answering questions about kids and medical experiment.

Biden goes down in defeat on Title IX changes he proposed: women win bigly

The Biden administration wanted to go out in a fireball of leftist wins, and was hoping to revise Title IX rules in order to allow men who, either think they're women, or know they're only mediocre men in their sport, to compete against women, steal their trophies and scholarships where applicable.

But because the administration was faced with aggressive opposition to any rule changes that would allow men to beat women [in more ways than one] they abandoned their efforts to rewrite the laws they hoped would serve gender dysphoric [and cheaters] agenda.

In a straightforward, official statement, the Education Department announced they were backing down from changing Title IX, a law meant to give equal opportunities to women. They said they would not go forward with the changes that would have let transgender people participate freely in activities and use facilities according to their gender identity.

The Education Department stated, "With over 150,000 public comments on President Joe Biden’s effort to institutionalize access by men to women’s sports, multiple lawsuits to block the rule, and the upcoming end to the Biden administration, it was dropping efforts to impose the rule," according to Just the News.

If this rule had gone through, it would have meant that men could participate in women's sports, and use women's bathrooms, locker rooms, and other facilities. The Biden administration had first suggested this change back in April 2023.

Jonathan Scruggs, who is Senior Counsel and Vice President of Legal Strategy at Alliance Defending Freedom, called the decision a win for women, as stated on their website.

"Women and girls deserve to compete on a level playing field, and the U.S. Department of Education has taken a step in the right direction by withdrawing this proposed change," he said.

"As the withdrawal admitted, many Americans voiced their opposition to the rule change, and there are many pending lawsuits related to protecting women’s sports — including a comment submitted by Alliance Defending Freedom and multiple lawsuits brought by ADF to protect women’s sports," he said.

"The decision to withdraw the proposed sports rule merely reflects the views of the vast majority of Americans who believe that women’s sports should remain reserved for female athletes," he said.

By choosing to withdraw the rule rather than letting President-elect Donald Trump modify it, Karoline Leavitt, a spokesperson for Trump, said the White House was "adding more red tape and making it more difficult for him to govern," according to NBC.

"President Trump will not be deterred by their dirty tricks and will use every lever of power to reverse the damage Biden has done and implement his America First agenda," Leavitt said.

Writing on Outkick, Ian Miller noted, "It’s clear that the administration knew that this rule to protect transgender athletes had no chance of surviving the lawsuits and court of public opinion. Especially after the re-election of Donald Trump showed that the country overwhelmingly disapproved of such extremism." 

"But it’s also clear that they wanted to bury this announcement as to avoid scrutiny and criticism from the political left. So they chose to dump it on the Friday before Christmas, with most of the country checked out of the news or focused on the first game of the new College Football Playoff era," he wrote, adding, "Sounds about right for how this disgraceful administration has conducted itself for the past four years."
