2 NY residents arrested for running covert Chinese police station and what about Australia

The FBI along with federal prosecutors and the DOJ announced Monday the arrest of two New York City residents who allegedly ran a covert Chinese government police station in Manhattan's Chinatown. Both suspects are of Chinese extraction but at this time, little is known about them.

Lu Jianwang and Chen Jinping have each been charged with conspiring to act as agents of China's government, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.

Melbourne Australia's Chinese Spy Car

The Justice Department earlier described the announcement as a "significant national security matter."

No kidding, Sherlock.

The defendants were scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon before a magistrate judge.

And while this was going on, a mysterious "Chinese" police car was spotted in Melbourne, Australia in the south-east, amid worries of "intimidation by Beijing" toward expatriots. [H/T Daily Mail]

It comes after reports of undercover Chinese police stations being set up in major cities across the world including London, Glasgow, and Toronto.

The car in this case, is a Victoria-registered 2015 Nissan Maxima and was decked out with Chinese police decals and text on the rear passenger door saying [in Chinese] "Special Police."

It should have instead said, "Secret Police."

Can I get a WTF!

This is a developing story so stay tuned and stay safe.

Show and tell: Dublin and Glasgow

So I'm back from Dublin and Glasgow. We went for a wedding in Ireland, stayed at the Bloom's Hotel and then we visited my wife's sister in Scotland.

I haven't been out of the country in a while and to tell you the truth, I was apprehensive about all the luggage we were carrying. I thought it might be a bit much, but it turned out just fine and we were met by friends at the airport.

We heard that Trump was going to be in the UK while we were there, but he went to England while we stayed in Dublin.

The pubs were fantastic although my wife doesn't drink, but I took a bunch of pictures and will share a few of them below.
Bloom's Hotel
It seemed as if everybody in Ireland smokes and loves Guinness. We went by the factory that makes the brew--it's a huge industrial complex.

I shot about 1250 photos in the nine days since we left the homeland and will be editing them over the next few days.
Once we got to Glasgow, we were taken on a city tour by my wife's niece. We visited Glasgow University (where she got a PhD in neuroscience) and naturally, we went shopping and toured the area around the city.

This cutie was given some coins by her momma to put in the guitar case of a busker and his young singing partner. This was taken in Glasgow Center (they spell it 'Centre') and there was a large crowd gathered round listening to the tunes.

Below is the photo of the buskers. They were really quite talented.
But my favorite music of all was the harpist at the wedding. Her name is Tina Mulrooney and she is fabulous.

If you like the soothing sounds of the harp along with beautiful accompanying instrumentation and a voice that is an incredible gift, you need to check her out. She has tunes on YouTube.

The father of the bride is my wife's friend from India. He told us that Mulrooney was hired just to play for the ceremony, lasting about thirty minutes, but she liked the wedding guests so much, she came up to the roof of the hotel [it took place at the Marker Hotel--another fantastic five star place] and stayed for well over an hour beyond her time.

In fact, she saw that I enjoyed her playing and singing [I told her she plays better than Patrick Ball and sings like an angel] that she gave me a CD of her album.

Anyway, we're back and I finally made it to the gym and have a lot to make up to my body.

Glasgow church service uses Koran reading

Scotland is doomed.

When passages from the Quran that explicitly refutes the divinity of Jesus is read in Arabic from the lectern during an Epiphany service in a Scottish cathedral, a service which celebrates the arrival of three kings bearing witness to the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, something is terribly wrong.

To have the passages from Islamic scripture read as part of the service is obscene to religious Christians, particularly those that clearly reject the divinity of Jesus at a ceremony during a festival that Christians believe marks the revelation of Christ's divinity to the world.

The church has since receive over 10,000 messages from angry Christians outraged by this outrageous occurrence.

"Christians should know what their fellow citizens believe and this can include reading the Quran for themselves, whether in the original or in translation," the Right Rev. Michael Nazir Ali, the former Bishop of Rochester told the BBC regarding the reading. "This is not, however, the same thing as having it read in church in the context of public worship. The authorities of the Scottish Episcopal Church should immediately repudiate this ill-advised invitation and exercise appropriate discipline for those involved."

If it had been a mosque, instead of a Christian church, and Allah or Muhammad were rejected by a reading therein, heads would roll.

The dhimmie who organized the event, the Not Very Rev. Kelvin  Holdsworth, said they received so many threatening messages that they were forced to call the police. [Better them than the Taliban.]

Holdsworth hit back saying the church had been involved in a number of different interfaith events in the past and that Quran readings have been conducted at the church in the past without incident. But he didn't say which verses were read and by whom.

Holdsworth also did not say whether he would attempt to get his church to do a reading of the Bible at a local mosque, but spreading the word of the Bible doesn't appear to be a big priority for the dhimmie.

He then went on to use the Muslim Brotherhood invented term 'Islamophobic,' and blame the 'far-right media' for the problem.

Since Christianity has been around longer than Islam (although Muslims lie and say that Islam has always existed, but it was just practiced the wrong way until Mohammed came around) it should be Muslims who get to hear the Not So Very Rev. Holdsworth preach to them.

Somehow, I don't see that ever going to happen.
