Far-left fertility clinic bomber had crazy "anti-pro-life manifesto"

Buckle up, folks—Palm Springs, California, just got rocked by a car bomb outside a fertility clinic, and the feds are pointing fingers at a 25-year-old with a chip on his shoulder and a manifesto to match. This ain’t your average Saturday night.

The suspect? Guy Edward Bartkus, a Twentynine Palms local, now presumed dead in the fiery explosion that lit up the parking lot of American Reproductive Centers (ARC). U.S. Attorney BiIVF,ll Essayli didn’t mince words in his X post Sunday, laying it out: “Bartkus is believed to be the individual who is deceased at the scene. Investigators are working to positively identify the remains. An anti pro-life manifesto believed to be authored by the suspect has been located and is being examined by the FBI.”

Essayli added, “We are happy to report that no embryos at the IVF center were damaged by the explosion. This case is being treated as an intentional act of domestic terrorism. The investigation is ongoing.” Yeah, you read that right—domestic terrorism.

The blast went off Saturday, turning a silver Ford Fusion (plate 8HWS848, if you’re keeping score) into a fireball. The ARC clinic and its IVF lab took a beating—think “extensive damage,” per The Los Angeles Times, with windows shattered blocks away. Miraculously, ARC says all eggs, embryos, and reproductive materials are “fully secure and undamaged.” No staff were hurt, though a few folks caught some shrapnel.
The FBI’s Los Angeles crew jumped in, dropping Bartkus’s name and a photo of the guy on X, begging for tips: “Please call 1800 CALLFBI with information or upload relevant video/images at https://t.co/CnxyRN1YIv.” They even raided a spot in Twentynine Palms, sniffing out connections to the explosion.

Akil Davis, the FBI’s L.A. honcho, got real at a presser: Bartkus “had nihilistic ideations and this was a targeted attack.” Oh, and get this—the guy was apparently trying to livestream his handiwork. “We believe he was attempting to livestream it and, yes, that is also part of our investigation,” Davis said. Twisted, right?

ARC’s not backing down, posting on Facebook that they’ll be “fully operational on Monday morning” and thanking the Palm Springs cops, firefighters, and community for having their back. “We appreciate the incredible support from our patients and local community, as well as the swift action of Palm Springs Police, Fire, and emergency responders,” they said.

Feds say there’s no ongoing threat, even with some locals evacuated. But a manifesto-toting nihilist blowing up a fertility clinic? That’s a wake-up call. Stay sharp, people.

BREAKING: Palm Springs explosion kills one at American Reproductive Services Building

An explosion at around 11 a.m. heavily damaged a fertility clinic in the upscale California city of Palm Springs. The event appears to have been intentional, local authorities said. One person was found dead, and the FBI said it was sending investigators, including bomb technicians, to the scene. The dead person is believed to be the perpetrator, but this is unclear.

Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills said in a statement Saturday that the blast “appears to be an intentional act of violence” and that several buildings were severely damaged.

The act was being investigated as a possible car explosion, said two law enforcement officials briefed on the matter who insisted on anonymity to discuss preliminary information from an ongoing investigation. Authorities have not disclosed a motive.

FBI Los Angeles said in a social media post on X that “assets being deployed include investigators, bomb technicians & an evidence response team.” Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were also assisting.

The city of Palm Springs said Saturday that the explosion happened at 11 a.m. local time and that residents were being asked to avoid the area around North Indian Canyon Drive near East Tachevah Drive.

Dr. Maher Abdallah, who runs the American Reproductive Centers fertility clinic, confirmed that his clinic was damaged. He told The Associated Press in a phone interview that all of his staff were safe and accounted for. The explosion damaged the practice’s office space, where it conducts consultations with patients, but left the IVF lab and all of the stored embryos there unharmed.

“I really have no clue what happened,” Abdallah said. “Thank God today happened to be a day that we have no patients.”

Aerial footage showed a burned-out car in a parking lot behind the building that housed the fertility clinic’s office space. The blast caved in the building’s roof and blew a wide debris field across a sidewalk and four lanes of the street on the other side of the structure.

Rhino Williams, 47, was chatting with customers at a restaurant he helps manage inside the Skylark Hotel just over a block away from the scene when he heard a huge boom. He saw a large dark gray plume of smoke and covered his nose with his shirt as he smelled burning plastic and rubber. He also said that he saw a building had “blown out” into the street, with bricks and debris scattered everywhere, and spotted a car’s front axle on fire in the building’s parking lot.

Nima Tabrizi, 37, of Santa Monica, said he was inside a cannabis dispensary nearby when he felt a massive explosion.

“The building just shook, and we go outside and there’s massive cloud smoke,” Tabrizi said. “Crazy explosion. It felt like a bomb went off. ... We went up to the scene, and we saw human remains.”

Palm Springs is a community in the desert about a two-hour drive east of Los Angeles. Its known for upscale resorts and a history of celebrity residents.

CBS anchor defends Kavanaugh and apologetically resigns

Palm Springs, Calif. -- Kris Long, a news anchor who initially had the courage of his convictions resigned after writing a 400-word Facebook post in September defending Brett Kavanaugh from sexual allegations. [In case you're from a different galaxy, Kavanaugh was the nominee for the Supreme Court and has now been confirmed].

Long was off the air at CBS affiliate KESQ-TV since his Sept. 17th post appeared, according to the Desert Sun.

Long offered his resignation on Friday.

In spite of the guts it took to reveal what he believed to be true about the Kavanaugh debacle, he weaseled out in his written statement: "I want to thank those who have offered support and apologize again for any I may have offended. I hope to return to the news business in the future."

What a wuss. Apologize for offending people because he believed in what he wrote?

Jerry Upham, the general manager for the Gulf California Broadcast Company said they accepted his resignation and that he "has a following and we know he will be missed by many in the area."

Long wrote that "few things are more serious than rape" but the timing of Ford's claim "stinks of political maneuvering." [Christine Ford is Kavanaugh's accuser who crawled out from the woodwork at the eleventh hour in the confirmation hearing.] Ford offered absolutely no corroborating evidence of her claim and even her lifelong friend denied it.

Long aslo said the MeToo movement was long overdue but the allegation of the sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh amounted to "lesser miscreant behavior."

"You are beyond dreaming if you think 17-year-old boys are not going to misbehave from time to time as they begin to attempt relationships with the opposite sex," he wrote. "That is just the way we animals are made!"

Now I can see where he minimized what was alleged and it even sounds as if Long is believing the allegation without any proof, but we have reached a point in society where we are punished for our beliefs and it isn't a good thing.

Some of his audience supported him. Some called for his retirement. Others criticized the station for taking him off the air.

At first Long stood by his remarks but deleted his post the following day and issued an apology.

"I wish I hadn't written [the post] because it's caused me a lot of headache. This is a sensitive and controversial subject and I apologize [for having my own opinion which may differ from yours] for any offense that this has caused," he meekly wrote to the snowflakes who have nothing to do but be offended at something in order to keep their pulse going.

"Perhaps I may have broken our social media standards by putting my article a little bit too far to one side," he said the day after the posting, referring to the right side rather than the left.

The Society for Professional Journalists urges journalists to avoid activities that "may compromise integrity or impartiality, or may damage credibility."

CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, ABC, and the New York Times are exempt from those standards.
