Liberal TV pundit arrested for kidnapping her 88-year-old mother

Cathy Areu, often a Fox News liberal guest with the moniker "liberal sherpa" has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping her mother and stealing $224,000 from her.

According to the Daily Wire, Areu put her mother in a nursing home against her will on two occasions, allegedly dragging her from her home on one occasion, Florida authorities said.

“Every incident of alleged elder exploitation or abuse touches our heart and never fails to shock us,” said a statement from Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. “It seems particularly harder to understand when the alleged perpetrator of the exploitation is a daughter, or a son or another blood relative.”

Nah, I disagree. Having worked in a nursing home many years ago, I've seen a number of incidents in which a family member or relative wanted to admit an elderly blood relative into the home so they could collect the person's life savings. Strangers or non-relatives don't stand a chance of succeeding.

In one instance, Areu’s mother allegedly denied signing paperwork that turned over her home to her daughter. And it has also been alleged that on two occasions, Areu used a revoked power of attorney to stick her mother into a nursing home without her consent, the Daily Mail noted.

The former commentator is facing a number of felony charges including kidnapping, exploitation of the elderly, and organized scheme to defraud, according to 7 News Miami. Areu has been denied bond and is currently being held at Miami-Dade county jail where she is preaching the joys of having voted for a President with far less cognitive acumen than her mother.

Areu has been under investigation since 2019, according to prosecutors. The podcast host was reportedly evading authorities this summer, which included Areu spending time in Mexico where she has allegedly been carrying on with a cartel that smuggles future Democrats across the border. [Okay, that didn't happen.]

Areu had a lawsuit against Fox News and some of their personalities. She claimed, in a now-dismissed suit that Tucker Carlson propositioned her and when she rebuffed his cool moves, he refused to have her on his show. 

That never happened and the lawsuit was dismissed last year.

She also went after Sean Hannity but that also turned out to be a false claim.

It sounds like Areu has a serious mental problem and is desperate for money. 

That's really sad, but I feel sorry mostly for her mom.

Three killed in Miami-Dade shooting

Three people are dead and among them is a female corrections officer. Nine others were injured in an incident described by police as a "targeted shooting" in southwest Miami Sunday morning.

The shooting was posted on a Twitter by Miami-Dade police and people were asked to avoid the area due to increased police presence. It occurred inside a strip mall parking lot near Miami Dade College's Kendall campus, WTVJ-TV reported and the mall contains two businesses a restaurant and a hookah lounge.

Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo "Freddy" Ramirez III told WSVN-TV that a graduation party was concluding at around 2 a.m. People were milling about in the parking lot when a car pulled up and began to open fire into the crowd.

A corrections officer with the state of Florida died at a nearby hospital.

Two people died after crashing into a wall at Miami-Dade College. A gun was found in the back of their car Ramirez said it was unknown they died after getting shot or crashing into the wall. The injured self-transported to hospitals.

So it sounds as if everybody was packing heat.

Police are looking for two cars believe linked to the scene of the shooting.

"It just goes to show you the magnitude of this gun violence issue," Ramirez said, referring to the guns and not the criminals using them as weapons. "It doesn't just affect the community, it affects the law enforcement community as well."

One week ago, a shooting in northwest Miami-Dade killed three people and injured 20 others. Authorities are still searching for the suspects. One victim, a woman, died Thursday.

It's time to fund the police and find those with illegal firearms and arrest them because it isn't the legal firearms causing the real trouble. and it sure isn't AR-15s.

Miami: guns shoot 25 people, killing 2--guns and shooters fled

A person-hunt is underway in the Miami area early Sunday after three people, whose genders were not revealed by them, held guns that began shooting at the crowd of people at a banquet hall. Two are dead and a third is in critical condition with about 25 shot overall. 

The guns, and the people holding them as they did their evil deeds, fled the scene.

According to WPLG-TV, police are searching for a white Nissan Pathfinder. [We all know how those "white" Nissan Pathfinders are.]

The guns began firing at the El Mula Banquet Hall in the Country Club Shopping Center in Hialeah, WPLG’s Parker Branton tweeted.

Wounded people were transported to various hospitals, either by fire rescue vehicles or personal vehicles, Branton posted.

The hall was being used for a concert when the Pathfinder drove up, three people with violent guns got out and started firing into the crowd, according to Branton.

A combination of rifles and handguns shot at the crowd indiscriminately. 

"We believe this is a targeted act of gun violence," Miami-Dade police Director Alfredo "Freddy" Ramiriez told the newspaper. "This is a despicable act of gun violence, a cowardly act."

Those violent guns should be ashamed of themselves. 

If only we had laws forbidding the use of guns of all makes and models there would be no violent guns and criminals would have to use other legal means to cause harm. Wait--never mind.

The point is, gun violence is simply a way the left tries to make the case that the Second Amendment needs to be abolished. It's how they use language to make their case, just like they do with abortion: a "woman's right to choose," or "pro-choice," as opposed to "killing babies in the womb." 

You know that progressives immediately jump on the anti-gun bandwagon even before the victims are buried. This was a horrific shooting and I don't mean to make light of it, nor do I mean to excuse the people who did the shooting. But don't blame the weapons, blame the shooters.

“It is unclear when such a practice was enacted and if it only applies to local reporters, particularly after her MSNBC appearance with Stephanie Ruhle on Monday,” Fox News reported. “During her MSNBC interview, Lightfoot told Ruhle she would ‘encourage’ Chicago residents to continue wearing masks despite the new CDC guidance allowing those with the coronavirus vaccine to go without them.”

“I know for me personally, I’m going to continue to wear a mask in public and I’m going to encourage others to do so,” Lightfoot told Ruhle. “We’ve got to make sure that people are continuing to follow the public health guidance that has gotten us this far, and masks, I think, are a big and important part of that.”

Lightfoot said on Tuesday afternoon that her decision to continue to encourage people to wear masks was not based on distrust of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

“But I think their guidance last week regarding masks has people confused…We need clarification,” Lightfoot said. “We still have a long way to go to hit the critical mass (of vaccinations) or herd immunity. I don’t want people to have false confidence.”

“To say, ‘If you’re vaccinated, you don’t have to wear a mask,’ that’s great. But what about all of the other people who are out there that aren’t vaccinated?” Lightfoot added. “There’s no way to know that. So I think for the time being, most people are gonna continue to wear masks outside of their homes.”
