Is Dr. Oz a wizard or what, in his crackdown on NYC daycare center directors?

FLUSHING, N.Y. — Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Administrator Dr. Mehmet Oz showed up in a surprise visit at two New York City senior care centers suspected of treating Medicaid like an open bar tab, and the staff responses landed somewhere between "the computer did it" and "please come back after lunch when the room looks fuller."

Fox News Digital tagged along as federal officials delivered the kind of warning letters that tend to make billing departments check the exits.

Oz and senior federal health officials handed the notices to Kent Senior Care and Evergreen Adult Day Care in Flushing, Queens, causing several severe cases of loose stools, and not the kind you sit in unless you're very weird.

The visits formed part of a wider sweep that put the FBI, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General, the NYPD and other agencies on the same Tuesday itinerary. More than 80 stops and warning letters went out across the city that day.

Taxpayers who fund the programs received no such courtesy tour.

"The whole experience was suspicious," Oz told Fox News Digital afterward.

Authorities described a broader effort that included arrests, search warrants and moves to halt certain operators from billing Medicaid, although these steps at the two Queens, NY sites were not observed directly by Fox News Digital.

Oz questions senior center director: 'We don't believe you'

The first stop, around 8:30 a.m. at Kent Senior Care, when residents were likely in the throes of being cleaned up, began with Oz walking in and personally delivering the federal letter. The posted maximum occupancy was 70. The room did not appear to be testing that number.

"The bills are much higher than they should be," Oz told the director. "The billing is for more people. It doesn't look very crowded here."

The director claimed that more seniors would arrive later. Oz noted the paperwork suggested something closer to this being the perpetual capacity.

"The bills we're getting are as though it's completely full all the time," Oz said. So something stank, much like these places at 8:30 in the morning.

The director insisted the center billed only for actual attendance and required sign-in sheets. Oz was unmoved.

"You're getting this letter from the U.S. Government because we don't believe you," he told the director.

Billing records indicated five-day-a-week participation. The director said many seniors came only two or three days. When the conversation turned to specialized wheelchair transportation charges, Oz looked around the room.

"I don't see any wheelchairs here," Oz told the director.

Fox News Digital saw seniors using walking aids but no wheelchairs during the visit. Another official noted the billing for specialized transport. The director said some participants had mobility issues after strokes, that wheelchairs were available, and that staff might have reused old codes.

"Probably he just copy and pasted," the director said, lying like an abandoned sofa by Coney Islamd Creek.

Oz then walked over to the mahjong tables set up for the Medicaid-funded program.

"Should the American taxpayers be paying so folks can play mahjong?" Oz asked the director.

The director said the game helped with finger exercise, socialization and memory. Oz answered that the benefit was not free.

"It's free for them, not free for the taxpayers," Oz responded. "Is that what our federal tax dollars for Medicaid is supposed to go to? Or is it life-saving heart surgery? Or, you know, new therapies for cancer?"

Oz also watched seniors walk in without signing anything, despite the stated requirement. He later described the timing.

"People were just walking in there without signing anything," Oz said. "And then after I showed up and he saw what we were doing with my team, he started collecting these documents to be signed." You know, closing the barn door after the chickens made a run for it.

Social adult day care programs can supply activities, supervision, meals and support. Medicaid payment hinges on eligibility and documentation of what was actually provided. The gap between that rule and the observed room proved difficult to close on the spot.

At Evergreen Adult Day Care the pattern repeated.

A floor manager said roughly 200 seniors attended on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and about 150 on the other days. Oz walked the space and offered a different count.

"So I look at maybe 25 people in the whole space now," Oz said, perhaps forgetting to multiply by 10.

The manager claimed that some were in classes and others had left for shopping, the pharmacy or appointments.

"The numbers don't seem to add up," Oz responded.

On wheelchairs the manager first said none were in use, then acknowledged a small number.

"But you said there weren't any, didn't you?" Oz pressed. He compared notes with the other federal officials present.

"I'm struck by how few people are here as well," Oz said. "This makes me wonder how they sustain these billing levels."

The attendance books supplied the next discrepancy. Fox News Digital saw sign-in sheets with names already entered for Oct. 22 and Oct. 23, dates that had not yet arrived. Whether the pages were finished records or advance schedules remained unclear. Let's hope he took photos of the fraudulent-sounding evidence,

Oz alleges organized crime ties to NYC Medicaid fraud. He said federal authorities believed organized criminal networks were paying seniors to appear at facilities so operators could bill for services never delivered. He described individuals he linked to the "Chinese mafia" offering some seniors between $1,000 and $1,200 to participate.

He did not name a specific group or present supporting evidence in the interview. He said billing spikes across the sector had pushed annual spending toward $1 billion.

Sounds a lot like a Minnesota Learing Center, doesn't it?

"We know from the billing here that there's no way this business is running in the way that they claim to be running without something being wrong," Oz told the media outlet.

"Is it an innocent mistake? A hundred times in a row, I don't think so."

He added that proceeds from the schemes were financing other crimes, including money laundering and human trafficking.

"It's really a clubhouse for crime," Oz said.

He said the fraud grew during the COVID-19 period and faulted the previous administration for letting the spending and the suspicious patterns continue.

Democratic New York Gov. comrade Kathy Hochul called the Tuesday actions part of a "massive effort to combat fraud and abuse" and noted that state health officials joined the federal and local effort. While Oz delivered the letters in Queens, searches continued at other sites across the city. Details on the remaining targets, the people involved and any evidence recovered were not available while the investigations continued.

Imagine if the Democrats were in power in the federal government. They would look the other way while holding out their hands for a little greasing.

Change my mind.

Trump administration sues Harvard for alleged civil rights violations and anti-Semitism

The Trump administration has filed a lawsuit against Harvard University, alleging that the prestigious school violated the civil rights of its Jewish students.

The suit, filed early on Friday in a federal district court in Massachusetts, claims that Harvard failed to protect Jewish and Israeli students from anti-Semitic hostility and fulfill anti-harassment policies, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The filing claims that Jewish and Israeli students faced harassment in the form of stalking and assault, including being “spat upon,” since the October 7, 2023, attack that Hamas carried out on Israel.

“For several years, Jewish and Israeli students endured a hostile educational environment,” the document read. “They were repeatedly denied access to educational facilities by antisemitic demonstrators. Fearful for their safety, Jewish students wore baseball caps to conceal their yarmulkes or kept out of sight, effectively denying them access to Federally funded educational opportunities.”

“Jewish and Israeli students were subjected to severe, pervasive, and objectively offensive harassment on the ground of their race or national origin,” the Trump administration asserted. The administration argued that Harvard failed to properly discipline harmful behavior toward its Jewish community, violated its own policies and federal law, and is therefore misusing federal funding.

“Harvard’s response to this: do nothing,” the suit read. “Its faculty and leadership turned a blind eye to antisemitism and discrimination against Jews and Israelis. Students and faculty violated Harvard’s time, place, and manner rules with impunity, rules that Harvard has and would enforce against anyone else.”

Other offenses included the university letting instructors cancel class or excuse students to “join illicit demonstrations,” allowing anti-Israeli demonstrators to occupy school libraries and allowing an anti-Israeli encampment on its campus for 20 days.

“Harvard has been and remains deliberately indifferent to what its own Presidential Task Force on Combating Antisemitism and Anti-Israeli Bias deemed the ‘exclusion of Israeli or Zionist students from social spaces and extracurricular activities,’” the administration declared.

It argued that by seeking and accepting federal grants from the U.S., it “certifies compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.” This means that the school should comply with the prohibition of discrimination based on race if it expects to continue receiving massive sums of funding.

“Harvard is currently set to receive more than $2,615,000,000 of taxpayer money under active federal grants from the Department of Health and Human Services alone (to say nothing of other agencies),” the filing explained. “Yet Harvard defied federal law and violated Title VI repeatedly by discriminating against Jewish and Israeli students without remorse. And Harvard remains in violation of its Title VI obligations.”

The administration now seeks to recover federal funding that was doled out to the school while it disregarded federal regulations.

Harvard sued the administration last year after the government froze billions of its federal funding. A federal court judge in Boston ruled in Harvard’s favor, calling the antisemitism argument a “smokescreen” to withhold federal money.

“Anti-Semitism is a serious problem and no matter the context, it is unacceptable,” the university said in a statement. “Harvard has taken substantive, proactive steps to address the root causes of antisemitism in its community.”

Trump’s administration has cracked down on several elite universities that he believes are discriminatory and overrun with left-wing ideology. Many schools have reached agreements with the White House to restore frozen federal grants.

Look, this is the kind of story that makes you wonder how long it took the Ivy League crowd to realize that "diversity" apparently doesn't include protecting Jewish kids from getting spit on and chased around campus. Harvard's big plan seems to have been to let the antisemitic circus run its course while cashing those fat federal checks, then act shocked when someone finally calls them on it. The Trump team dropping this lawsuit is basically the political equivalent of walking into a room full of trust-fund radicals and saying, "Hey, geniuses, maybe stop pretending your 'protests' aren't just Jew-baiting with better signage." And good luck to Harvard explaining to taxpayers why they should keep funding a place that treats Title VI like a suggestion box. The woke elite always think the rules are for other people, until the other people show up with lawyers and receipts.

Trump admin freezes 'all child care payments' to MN due to daycare fraud scandal

Gov, Tim Walz

Happy New Year's Eve, dear friends. As we close out 2025 with a bang, or in Minnesota's case, the sound of a money spigot being slammed shut, it's time to celebrate the Trump administration finally doing what Democrats have been pretending to do for years: actually fighting fraud.

The Department of Health and Human Services dropped a bombshell on Tuesday, announcing they've frozen every last dime of child care payments to the Land of 10,000 Lakes (and apparently endless scams) amid a massive fraud scandal that's been bubbling under the surface.

“We have frozen all child care payments to the state of Minnesota,” Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill and Administration for Children & Families Assistant Secretary Alex Adams declared in a video posted on X. “You have probably read the serious allegations that the state of Minnesota has funneled millions of taxpayer dollars to fraudulent daycares across Minnesota over the past decade.”

HHS laid out three no-nonsense moves to tackle what they called the “blatant fraud that appears to be rampant in Minnesota and across the country.” First up: flipping the switch on their “Defend the Spend system,” which now demands justification plus a receipt or photo evidence before any federal bucks head to a state.

Second: Thanks to the dogged investigative work of journalist Nick Shirley over recent months, O’Neill and his team have zeroed in on the folks featured in Shirley's videos. They're now demanding a “comprehensive audit of these centers,” covering everything from attendance records and licenses to complaints, investigations, inspections, and beyond.

Nick Shirley

Third: HHS is rolling out a dedicated fraud reporting hotline and email address so parents, providers, and everyday Americans can drop tips on the grifters.

“We have turned off the money spigot and we are finding the fraud,” the officials said.Shirley's viral videos have been spotlighting some seriously sketchy activity around Minneapolis, showing alleged daycare and autism centers that look more like ghost towns than places caring for kids. This all piles onto earlier revelations, like a federal prosecutor estimating at least $9 billion in fraud across Minnesota programs during Democratic Governor Tim Walz's tenure.

The Daily Wire even reported that Minnesota was still cutting checks to an accused Somali fraudster running assisted living homes while he awaited trial for what was called the nation's biggest COVID scam, running a fake charity, no less.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney Joe Thompson has flagged 14 Medicaid services in the state as “high risk” for fraud.

Shirley, fresh off an appearance on Fox News, laid it out plain and simple: “It’s so obvious,” Shirley explained, referring to the apparent fraud. “If you’re living in Minnesota, you have to raise your eyebrows and think, ‘What’s going on?’ Literally, if you drive around Minneapolis, you’ll see daycare centers, autism centers — you will then see transportation companies that have snow piled up as if they haven’t moved it in months.”

"A kindergartner could've figured out there was fraud going on."

Walz finally piped up on Tuesday, admitting the state had been “taken advantage of” by fraudsters chasing “greed” over helping kids and the elderly. But in classic Democrat fashion, he pointed the finger elsewhere: “We’ve spent years cracking down on fraud – referring cases to law enforcement, shutting down and auditing high-risk programs,” he said in a social media post. “Trump keeps letting fraudsters out of prison. To the national news just now paying attention, here’s what we’ve done to stop it.”

Ah yes, blame Trump, the guy whose administration just shut down the gravy train. Classic deflection from the party that's been overseeing this mess for years. Here's to more spigots getting turned off in 2026. Cheers!
