CNN: Gov't Shutdown Risks Asteroid Strike

The Certainly Not News (CNN) network says that the Trump government shutdown risks an undetected asteroid strike on the Planet Earth. That is, if there was no Trump government shutdown, we'd see the asteroid heading our way and would have time to kiss our kids and our butts 'goodbye.'

Now, according to "reporter" Tom Foreman, if an undetected asteroid hits us, you can blame it on President Trump because the Schumer Shutdown is actually his fault.

Everything bad is Trump's fault, and everything good is due to the effects of the Obama presidency.

"In space same year [2013], for more than two weeks, NASA reportedly stopped monitoring potentially dangerous asteroids. A big one, by the was, is expected to brush by Earth on February 4th," Foreman pontificated.

The hack acknowledged that most federal government services such as Social Security, the post office and air traffic control, would remain unaffected, but those asteroids . . . those damn asteroids.

Speaking to Jake Tapper, another CNN stooge, Foreman said the following:

Tapper: "It's not just the government workers, if the shutdown happens. It will have a real cascading effect on the economy."

Foreman: "Yeah, that's absolutely right. If there is no deal as these immigrants who came as children, the so-called DREAMers would be thrust into a dangerous legal limbo. Some 9 million children covered by Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). But plenty of other Americans who have nothing to do with any of that could also feel the impact."

But the impact of an asteroid, well that's something we'd want to know is about to happen, and with a Trump government shutdown we'd never see it coming before it destroyed life on Earth, like it did with the dinosaurs.

Of course shutting down the government sucks for some people, like the  over 800,000 government workers who will be placed on furlough. The military, the only part of government that actually functions like a well-oiled machine, will have to wait for their pay, but they will remain on duty.

However, to blame Trump for the shutdown is nonsense. Everything the left wants is in the budget and DACA isn't even a real issue yet--not until March--if the planet survives.

Shutting down the government is only proving that the country doesn't need big government . . . the shutdown is a good thing, in a way.

NASA: 'Potentially hazardous' asteroid headed toward Earth

Look up at the sky . . . it's a bird . . . it's a plane . . . it's a freaking asteroid!

The 2002AJ129 asteroid has been classified as a "potentially hazardous" asteroid that will buzz past the Earth (hopefully) on February 4th, honking along at a mere 67,000 mph. That's faster than a speeding bullet and about 15 times faster than our fastest manned aircraft.

This asteroid is huge. It's larger than Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building in Dubai. In Islam, Khalifa means "deputy" "successor," or "steward" and most commonly refers to the leader of a Caliphate such as Abu Bakr al Baghdadi, the religious leader of ISIS.

The asteroid is around 0.7 miles wide (1.1 km) and will pass by Earth at a distance of  about 2, 615,128 miles and 15 inches (if calculations are correct) which is considered close in astrophysical terms.

NASA describes any asteroid as being "hazardous" if it comes within 4,600,000 miles from our planet.

If somehow it hits Earth, the rock would plunge us into a mini-ice age which would destroy the global warming theories and possibly cause Al Gore to commit suicide. The impact alone would cause world temperatures to fall by as much as 8 degrees C, and would likely last several years. The world would become a colder and drier place, unless it hits a Middle East country other than Israel, in which case the world would become more modern on average.

In the worst case scenario, soot would remain in the atmosphere for about 10 years, but NASA does not believe this asteroid will hit the Earth.

In order to prevent an asteroid from colliding with Earth, the velocity of the rock must be reduced by less than an inch per second years in advance of the impact.

NASA is currently working on building a small spacecraft (about the size of NFL player William Perry, aka "The Refrigerator") capable of preventing asteroids from hitting our planet. A test of this system is planned for 20204 with a non-threatening asteroid. Let's just hope NASA doesn't rub it the wrong way and make it a threatening asteroid.

The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) would use what's known as a kinetic impactor technique, as it strikes the asteroid to shift its orbit.

"As of December 24, there are 17,495 known Near-Earth Objects (NEOs) around our planet; 17,389 are asteroids," according to NASA.

In February 2013, a 62 foot meteor exploded over the skies of Chelyabinsk, Russia. The energy was equivalent to about 500,000 tons of TNT and the meteor injured more than 1,000 people.

Earthbound asteroid will graze us next month

Don't you just hate it when an asteroid strikes Earth and wipes out all life? Well don't worry--it isn't going to happen . . . just yet, but there will probably come a time when it will.

Anyway, a huge, 3-mile-wide asteroid is diddy bopping its way through the galaxy and heading in our way. It will graze Earth on December 17th, but will not hit us . . . this go around.

The asteroid is named "3200 Phaethon" after the Greek god, and it will come quite close in astronomical terms.

The Russian astronomers [with the possible help of Michael Flynn] have been tracking this baby's path, which NASA describes as a "potentially hazardous asteroid."

If it hits us it's 'goodbye to Momma,' as I once heard a Gunny Sergeant tell his men in Vietnam during a mortar attack near our liquid oxygen converters. The converters, (aka 'LOX Converters') provides oxygen to pilots at high altitude and they make quite a fireball if hit, much like the Earth would if an asteroid hit us.

However, the asteroid will pass us by at only 2 million miles--practically a kiss on the cheek in astronomical terms.

It is about half the size of the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs, not counting those that still exist in the Democratic Party.

The first asteroid Ceres, was discovered in 1801 by Giuseppe Piazzi. There are about 600,000 asteroids in our solar system and they orbit the sun.

The 3200 Phaethon asteroid is special as it has aspects of both an asteroid and a comet. Scientists previously spotted plumes of dust from behind it, which is quite similar to the melting ice tails that trail comets.

The Immanuel Kant Baltic Federal University, in Konigsberg, Russia, which first began tracking the asteroid said in a statement, "Apparently, this asteroid was once a much bigger object." But of course, they said it in Russian and went on to add, "But its many approaches to the sun have caused it to crumble into smaller pieces which eventually formed this meteor shower."

Keep your fingers crossed.
