BREAKING: Latest on Reagan Int'l Airport Situation

A U.S. Army Blackhawk helicopter [Sikorsky UH-60] and an American Airlines regional jet crashed into the frigid waters of the Potomac River at around 8:48 p.m. Wednesday night. The jet was in the process of landing at Reagan International Airport.

Chief of District of Columbia Fire Department John Donnelly gave the sad news, "we don't think there are any survivors from this accident.” The fact is, being that the water in the river is around 35 degrees F. the probability that anyone remains alive is practically zero.

“We have recovered 27 people from the plane and one from the helicopter,” the Chief added.

“Despite all these efforts, we are now at a point where we are switching from a rescue operation to a recovery operation,” he also said.

"The district office of the medical examiner has lead on reuniting these bodies and these people, with their loved ones," Donnelly added, "and we will continue to work to find all the bodies and collect them. and reunite them with their loved ones."

Aviation expert Kyle Bailey told Fox News Digital that "[I]t was a perfect storm of events [that happened last night]." He compared the tragic event to being struck by lightning and noted that it was "unfair to cast blame at this early stage."

The U.S. military runs an incredible aviation operation,” he said. “But distractions do happen, and all humans make errors."

One possible reason this tragedy may have occurred is that the military uses UHF frequencies to communicate while civilian aircraft use VHF (Very High Frequency) generally between 118 MHz and 137 MHz. There could have been a miscommunication or delay that interrupted the flow of information needed to avoid the collision. Of course, it's too soon to speculate as this is a recent event.

I sincerely hope much is learned from this tragedy as it is investigated by the NTSB and FAA.

May the friends and families of the victims find peace in their grieving.

Iran harasses our Navy again

Iran is at it again. Four of their Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) "harassed" an American destroyer in the Strait of Hormuz Tuesday, according to a U.S. Navy official.

I can already hear liberals asking: "What did we do this time to piss them off?"

The Navy official said the Iranian warships carried out a "high-speed intercept" and two of their vessels came within 300 yards of the USS Nitze (DDG-94) am Arleigh-Burke-class destroyer named after Paul Nitze, the Secretary of the Navy under President Lyndon B. Johnson and chief arms control adviser in the Reagan administration.

The Navy official said the incident was "unsafe and unprofessional" and that the Iranian vessels "created a dangerous, harassing situation that could have led to further escalation."
USS Nitze

I don't believe Iran was worried the U.S. Navy was going to do anything more than they did when the IRGC captured 10 of our sailors in the same region back in January. Nothing was done then by the Obama administration, and the sailors were released after being held for 15 hours. So why would Iran think we would do anything now?

The USS Nitze was accompanied by guided missile destroyer USS Mason on what was said to be a "routine transit" in international waters at the time of the embarrassing incident.

As the Iranian jihadists closed in, the Nitze tried to make radio contact a dozen times with no response. The Iranians continued to play 'chicken' as they stayed on crash course. The Nitze sounded 5 short blasts on its whistle, an international signal of danger. The game of 'chicken' continued. The Nitze chickened out and changed course to avoid a kerfuffle and in the process, almost sailed into offshore oil rigs.

Sadly, we are no longer respected or feared by our enemies, nor are we trusted by our allies.
Even more sadly, I don't blame them.

Jimmy Carter Goes for His Highest Honor

Jimmy Carter has lost his number one spot as "America's Worst President Ever" to incumbent Barack Obama, but don't count Jimmy out just yet.

Carter stands to win what he considers the highest award one can hope for: "Anti-Semitic Schmuck of the Century," when he delivers the keynote address to the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) at their 51st annual convention in Detroit's Cobo Center starting Friday and ending on September 1st. The 2nd worst American president ever will talk about his latest book, A Call to Action: Women, Religion, Violence, and Power.

The outgoing ISNA president, Imam Mohamed Magid along with 4 other Muslim speakers, will discuss Muslim-American advancement over the next 5 years. A "secret special guest" is also on the bill, and some are betting it will be Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Just kidding--Abu is busy killing assorted infidels.

There will be many workshops over the 4 day event and there will be an Islamic Film Festival and a Quran-reciting competition. I wonder if they will ask about the "Sura of the Sword" (9:5) "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them.

Or one of my old favorites, Sura 8:12 "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them."

Why do I think they will omit all of the 109 Quran verses that promote violence?

Back to Jimmy Carter.

The Washington Times on August 8th had a headline that read: "Jimmy Carter: the pariah president: Outcast finds a career as a cheerleader for Israel's enemy." They quote Carter writing for Foreign Policy magazine: "There is never an excuse for deliberate attacks on civilians in conflict," and astutely remind us that these words are coming from a man who bragged about working as a "nukular" engineer--weapons that kill civilian populations. Maybe Jimmy forgot about that--after all, he is 89 and his mind certainly hasn't gotten better over the years.

While Carter admits Hamas has also committed war crimes by targeting civilian populations, he cites the discrepancy in the numbers killed by Hamas vs. Israel. The fact that Israel is better at what they do only proves the superior abilities of Israel in war over Hamas in terrorism. Carter would like to have seen those numbers reversed, I suspect.

But when you're an anti-Semite, intentions don't matter. Hamas' intentions are to kill all the Jews they can. It's not a problem to them if they kill children--in fact they cheer when they do.

Israel makes every attempt to target only Hamas. Obviously when Hamas hides behind the Palestinian population while shooting rockets at Israel's civilian population, Israel has no choice but to retaliate.

Jimmy Carter is still upset that he lost the Jewish vote to Ronald Reagan in 1980, and like Mohammed, the prophet-terrorist of Islam, he has never let it go and still seeks revenge. For Carter and Islam, peace will only come when there are no Jews and when the world is saying "there is no God but Allah."

Alan M. Dershowitz, world renown attorney, in an article to the Jerusalem Post on August 15th said: "Criticizing specific Israeli policies is certainly not intrinsically anti-Semitic. Indeed, many Israelis are critical of some of their nation's policies. But support for Hamas is anti-Semitic because Hamas's policies and actions are based, at their core, on Jew-hatred."

Carter wants Hamas to become a political player on the Middle East stage. They are a terrorist organization and anyone who believes differently is either ignorant or anti-Semitic.
