Larry Krasner Discovers Philadelphia Has a Prosecutor for Prosecutors

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner has spent years transforming the city's criminal justice system into a fascinating social experiment in which prosecutors are apparently expected to worry about everyone except themselves.

Now the experiment has entered an unexpected phase: Krasner is the subject of a federal criminal referral.

A federal judge has referred Krasner and one of his top deputies to the Justice Department following allegations arising from a 2009 murder case. U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond issued a 40-page memorandum raising concerns about whether Krasner and Matthew Stiegler, chief of the Philadelphia DA's Conviction Integrity Unit, pressured prosecutors to present a false account of the case.

The allegations are tied to Dennis Johnson, who is seeking to overturn his 2009 murder conviction.

According to the judge's memorandum, hearings that began in May uncovered potential conflicts of interest and raised questions about how Krasner's office handled the case.

Judge Diamond described Krasner's conduct as "troubling" and suggested that he may have urged subordinates to "implement and present a false narrative to the court."

That's generally the sort of sentence a district attorney hopes to read about in somebody else's biography.

The judge also said Krasner and Stiegler were urged to refer the matter to the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, but Krasner refused, perhaps to cover his own butt.

The memorandum reportedly says Krasner warned there "would be consequences" if employees "alerted the court to the conflict issue."

So, according to the allegations, Philadelphia's progressive prosecutor may have developed a novel approach to criminal justice: aggressively pursue accountability for everyone else while encouraging employees to think very carefully about where they point the accountability spotlight.

Unfortunately for Krasner, the spotlight has apparently developed a mind of its own and it's pointing directly at him.

Krasner has built his national reputation as one of America's most prominent progressive prosecutors. His approach has included policies that critics say have made Philadelphia's crime problem worse, while Krasner and his supporters have defended his record as a necessary correction to traditional prosecution.

He has also spent considerable political energy opposing the Trump administration's immigration enforcement efforts.

At one point, Krasner threatened to prosecute federal immigration officers operating in Philadelphia, sounding a lot like Zohran Mamdani.

Yes, the elected district attorney of Philadelphia was prepared to put federal immigration agents in his crosshairs for enforcing federal immigration law.

Now a federal judge has referred him to the Justice Department for investigation.

The plot practically writes itself.

Krasner's office has spent years reminding the public, tongue-in-cheek, that nobody is above the law.

Apparently, the law was listening.

Krasner isn't conceding anything. He responded:

"I respectfully and vigorously disagree with the court's findings of fact and conclusions of law. I look forward to appealing to the higher court as soon as the law allows. This remains a pending matter, which limits for now my and my office's ability to respond in the media."

Naturally, there is an important distinction here. Krasner has not been convicted of a crime. The judge's referral is not a criminal conviction, and the allegations involving Krasner and Stiegler remain allegations subject to investigation and further proceedings.

Still, it must be an unusual experience for a progressive prosecutor to discover that the criminal justice system has a feature he apparently never installed in Philadelphia: a return address.

For years, Krasner has operated as though the primary purpose of the justice system was to investigate, prosecute and incarcerate the people his office deemed worthy of attention. Now Washington has apparently decided that Larry Krasner deserves some attention, too.

And somewhere in Philadelphia, a federal prosecutor is probably opening a file and discovering that the city's most famous prosecutor has finally been given the one assignment nobody in the DA's office wanted:

Explain yourself.

Philadelphia DA Krasner uses Carricker shooting for political purposes

The black woman, a suspect in a Philadelphia mass shooting that killed five and injured two children is being held without bail.

The Philly DA Larry Krasner said Wednesday that the the shooter's gun targeted 'random victims' and she was ready to do battle.

Investigators say Kimbrady Carriker, 40, arrived to the scene of the shooting ready for a prolonged gunfight. She had an AR-15 style scary rifle assault thing, a handgun, a police scanner and a ballistic vest. But according to the DA, [who, let me remind you, hates scary guns], despite the attack being well prepared, it was "a random, premeditated deliberate killing carried out with an assault rifle."

So Krasner, who hates scary guns and refers to them as 'assault rifles' as if only they are the problem in our crazy society, wants to use this moment as an opportunity to speak out against those evil, scary-looking weapons, because, well he's a progressive Democrat who uses his position as DA to propel his leftist agenda against Republicans who stand up for the Second Amendment.

The five deceased victims are Daujan Brown, 15; Joseph Wamah, Jr., 31; Lashyd Merritt, 20; Dymir Stanton, 29; and Ralph Moralis, 59. Multiple children were also injured by the gunfire, including a 2-year-old who was shot four times in the legs.

"I just want to say this: it is disgusting, the lack of proper gun legislation that we have in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania," Krasner said during a Tuesday news conference.

Tell us Mr. Krasner, one time, just one, in which strict gun laws stopped a shooting rather than a good guy with a gun.

We're waiting . . .

"It is disgusting that you can go to New Jersey and find a whole list of reasonable gun regulation that we don't have, that you can go to Delaware and there's almost as long a list of reasonable gun legislation that we don't have," he added.

Still, in an average year, 439 people die and 1,398 are wounded by guns in New Jersey even though New Jersey has the 44th-highest rate of gun violence in the US.

Second Amendment much?

Soros-backed Kim Foxx, who got Jussie Smollett off the hook, gives herself the hook

The Chicago prosecutor, Kim Foxx, who received millions of Soros funding said on Tuesday that she'll not seek re-election next year.

Foxx [who is anything but] became Cook County, IL state's attorney in 2016 and is best known for her hands-off law enforcement, and for allowing Jussie Smollett, a gay black actor, to avoid any serious consequences regarding the racist hoax he created, after she had the charges dropped.

You may remember how Smollett paid two Nigerian individuals to "attack" him in the middle of the night during a polar vortex in the streets of Chicago after he went out to a Subway restaurant for a sandwich. He was supposedly attacked by two white men in red hats with rope and bleach yelling, "This is MAGA country!" and put the rope around his neck, allegedly doused him with bleach, and off they went.

Smollett went home with the rope still around his neck and his sandwich intact, called police and told the story to them about the "two white men." He kept the rope around his neck, by the way.

It turns out that Smollett had hired two Nigerian brothers who were bodybuilders, to carry out his hoax. A grand jury later indicted him on six counts of disorderly conduct over the false reports to the Chicago PD.

He served less than a week in jail and still pretended the story he made up was true, as he cried us a river on television.

When Foxx won the campaign and began serving the criminal elements of Chicago, Soros had slipped her campaign $400,000 to help the cause.

Later, in 2020, Soros, a devout anti-America socialist, provided $2 million to a committee backing her re-election efforts against three Democratic challengers, one of which received a massive funding boost from their wealthy father.

Soros has backed dozens of far-left prosecutor candidates as part of his efforts to destroy the criminal justice system. Foxx was among the most visible leftists. Some of the others he backed are Kim Gardner in St. Louis, George Gascón in Los Angeles, and Larry Krasner in Philadelphia.

The candidates Soros supports all oppose cash bail, favor anemic law enforcement, and back "restorative justice" initiatives which push to refuse charging minors who commit serious crimes, as adults.

The cities in which Soros supported prosecutors preside are cities where crime thrives and where people seek to leave.

The Chicago Tribune first reported Tuesday afternoon that Foxx would not seek re-election next year. But don't worry, Chicago is about as "MAGA country" as Saudi Arabia is a Jewish State. It will very likely be electing another Democrat next year, and crime will very likely continue at the same pace.
