Incompetent Comey admits being cluelessly 'overconfident'

Well Lordy Lordy, former incompetent FBI Director James Comey admitted on "Fox News Sunday" that he was "overconfident" in his defense of the FBI's use of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and that the American public was right to judge him a clueless overachiever. It only took him two years, but I think we all know why.

Isn't the job of the Federal Bureau of Investigation to investigate before coming to conclusions?

Comey's admission comes just a few days after Inspector General Michael Horowitz's report and testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee which detailed his concerns that 17 "significant errors and omissions" by the FBI's team when they applied for a FISA warrant to monitor Carter Page, Trump's campaign adviser.

Horowitz referred “the entire chain of command” to the FBI and DOJ for “how to assess and address their performance failures” during the probe, which was conducted while Comey was in charge and apparently sat on his thumb, being totally oblivious of what his people were doing to subvert the Trump campaign. Thus, Comey is either incompetent, a liar who was involved in the process of undermining a presidential campaign, or both. But to believe he had no clue as to what his agency was doing is naive.

"He's right, I was wrong," Comey said about how the FBI used the FISA process, adding, "I was overconfident as director in our procedures."

Overconfident or complicit in a partisan attack on Trump and his team?

Horowitz did say that he believes the FBI's Russian investigation and possible Trump campaign connections was initiated properly. But he also admitted that this assessment is based on a "low threshold." In other words, he may have asked a subject in the investigation "were you biased against Trump?" and the response was "no," and that was as far as it went insofar as testimony or documentary evidence was concerned. He admitted, however, that the issue of bias "gets murkier" regarding the FISA application process.

Ya think?

It was the unverified "dossier" gathered by former British spy Christopher Steele that the FBI relied on for the FISA application. This fake report was financed by Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee as part of opposition research and was conducted by Fusion GPS, a firm where Nellie Ohr, the wife of high-ranking FBI agent Bruce Ohr worked.

Horowitz’s report stated that government attorneys were hesitant to approve a FISA warrant application until they relied on the bull crap report from Steele. That information also was used in subsequent renewals for the FISA warrant.

Meanwhile, Comey was still sitting on his thumb and writing his own version of the Bible, pausing only on occasion to take long walks in the woods while sharing his "[Valley Girl"] upspeaking wisdom to the trees.

The former incompetent FBI director downplayed the role of Steel's information in obtaining the FISA warrant against Page, claiming Sunday that it was "not a huge part of the presentation to the court," although recognizing that "it was the one that convinced the lawyers" to move forward.

He claimed he had not misstated the relevance of Steele's information, which he absolutely did, but said "if I was then I'm sorry that I did that."

Imagine Comey in an orange jumpsuit. That day may never come, but it's a comforting image.
Who took the photo?

The most disgusting part in all this business with the FBI and FISA warrant is how the agency omitted the exculpatory information about Page that probably would have made a difference to the judge who misjudged the veracity of the FBI. And this includes a purposeful omission by an attorney who was found to have altered an email to lie about Page, saying that he was not a CIA source, when in fact he was. Of course, this would have justified his contact with Russia, but the judge never knew that tidbit.

After the report was made public, Comey claimed that he was fully vindicated and that criticism of the report about the FBI's actions "was all lies." But at the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing when Horowitz was asked about whether the FBI was vindicated, he replied, "I think the activities we found here don't vindicate anybody who touched this FISA."

On Sunday, Comey claimed that the FBI did not intentionally commit wrongdoing, but described the FBI's failures as "real sloppiness." He said that "in general" he was unaware of "the particulars of the investigation" when it was going on, but said that as the person at the head of the FBI at the time, it still falls on him, which is his way of saying, "Lordy. It's kind of my fault, but it isn't really my fault in a direct sense."

"I was responsible for this," he said, adding, "squirrel, look, squirrel!"

I doubt he will be held accountable other than a bruised ego. Same goes for Hillary Clinton, but in her case, she will be unscathed because one must have a sense of ethics and morality to get one's ego bruised.

Barr assigns US attorney to investigate spying involving Trump campaign

Attorney General Bill Barr has assigned U.S. attorney John Durham to determine the origins of the Russia investigation in order to see if intelligence collection of the Trump campaign was "lawful and appropriate."

Durham previously has investigated law enforcement corruption, the destruction of CIA videotapes and the Boston FBI office's relationship with mobsters. He is to continue to serve as the chief federal prosecutor in Connecticut and is considered to be apolitical.

Unlike the DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, Durham will have subpoena power to investigate both current and former employees of the FBI and other agencies that may be involved. The IG's subpoena power only extends to current employees as he investigates potential surveillance abuses by the FBI, which should make the former director, James Comey, quake in his Dockers Top-Siders.

House Republican Reps. Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows wrote to Durham in January seeking a briefing, saying they had "discovered" that Durham's office was "investigating [former FBI General Counsel James Baker] for unauthorized disclosures to the media."

Durham's appointment comes about a month after Barr used a "dirty word" and told members of Congress he believed "spying did occur" on the Trump campaign in 2016. He later said he didn't mean anything pejorative by the word 'spying' and was gathering a team to look into the origins of the special counsel's investigation. Democrats, who have used that dirty word in the past, were appalled by its use when it implied that they might have been doing it.

Fox News reported:
In obtaining a secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) warrant to surveil former Trump aide Carter Page, the FBI copy-pasted directly from a disputed Washington Post opinion article to suggest the Trump campaign may have been compromised. The bureau also repeatedly assured the court that it "did not believe" British ex-spy Christopher Steele was the direct source for a Yahoo News article implicating Page in Russian collusion.
London court records showed that contrary to the FBI's assessments, former British intelligence agent Steele briefed Yahoo News and other reporters in the fall of 2016 at the direction of Fusion GPS -- the opposition research firm behind the dossier. Fusion GPS was retained by the [execrable] Hillary Clinton campaign and Democratic National Committee (DNC), a piece of information not stated in the FISA application.

Now it's time to grab the popcorn and watch the show as Democrats are doing everything the can to distract from what's going on in the background.

Weasel calls memo "dishonest" and "misleading"

The Prince of Pontification, James Comey, slammed the GOP memo by Devin Nunes as "dishonest" and "misleading." Yes, the man who leaked information about the President to his buddy in order to give the gossip to the media is bloviating about honesty.

Comey is the most insufferable person on the planet.

The fired former FBI director was anything but impressed with the FISA memo's contents, but that's because he's possibly behind much of what transpired with both his agency and the DOJ.

Lordy.

"That's it?" the boy scout Comey tweeted. "Dishonest and misleading memo wrecked the House intel committee, destroyed trust with Intelligence Community, damaged relationship with FISA court, and inexcusably exposed classified investigation of an American citizen. For what? DOJ & FBI must keep doing their jobs."

What a cocky crock from a phony Comey.

Comey used the politically financed and inspired dossier to go after Carter Page. He is everything he accuses the memo to be, what he accuses Nunes, who wrote the memo to be.

Comey is a disgrace and a weasel.

POTUS calls for congressional probe into wiretapping of his campaign

The Trump administration called for congressional investigations on Sunday, into his claim the Obama administration orchestrated an attempt to gain information on then-GOP nominee Donald Trump.

Press Secretary Sean Spicer said in a statement: "Reports concerning potentially motivated investigations immediately ahead of the 2016 election are very troubling . . . President Donald J. Trump is requesting that as part of their investigation into Russian activity, the congressional intelligence committee exercise their oversight authority to determine whether executive branch investigative powers were abused in 2016."

In a reflexive tweet Mr. Trump wrote: "Who was it that secretly said to Russian President, 'Tell Vladimir that after the election I'll have more flexibility?'"

Spicer's statement comes after President Trump's explosive allegation that former President Obama ordered phones wiretapped at Trump Tower and added that nobody in his administration "will comment further until such oversight is conducted."

Trump's wiretap allegations in a bunch of tweets Saturday, along with the White House statement, are the latest developments in the "Vladimir Putin is trying to influence the U.S. election for Trump over his rival and shrew, Hillary Clinton" controversy.

National Security Adviser Michael Flynn had to resign over this situation and Attorney General Jeff Sessions recused himself from any DoJ probe in the matter because it was learned that he spoke with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak after a gaggle of Democrats did the same.

"Terrible! Just found out that Obama had my 'wires tapped' in Trump Tower just before the victory. Nothing found. This is McCarthyism," the president tweeted Saturday.

And then he tweeted again: "Is it legal for a sitting president to be 'wire tapping' a race for president prior to an election? Turned down by court earlier. A NEW LOW!"

It isn't clear to whom Mr. Trump was directing the legal question, but we can rule out Alan Dershowitz and Rosie O'Donnell.

And then he tweeted again that a "good lawyer could make a great case of the fact that President Obama was tapping my phones in October, just prior to election!"

And again: "How low has President Obama gone to tap (sic) my phones during the very sacred election process. This is Nixon/Watergate. Bad (or sick) guy!" he said, overusing exclamation points and asking rhetorical questions, as he often does.

Obama denied Trump's accusation that he had Trump's phones tapped weeks before the November election. But that doesn't mean he didn't have someone else do it for him--like Loretta "How-are-your-grandkids-Bill" Lynch.

But Kevin Lewis, an Obama towel boy and caddy, refuted the idea that Lynch or Obama had anything to do with the alleged wiretapping. "Neither President Obama nor any White House official ever ordered surveillance on any U.S. citizen. Any suggestion otherwise is simply racist false."

So deniable plausibility aside, it's possible that the FBI or an outside source did the tapping.

In a Breitbart article on Friday it claimed the Obama administration made two Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA) requests last year to monitor Trump's communications and a computer server in Trump Tower. The purpose was to determine if there were links with Russian banks.

No evidence of such links were found. Nada. Zilch.

Trump, on Sunday, has again attacked Obama saying he colluded with Russia.

Brilliant strategy: throw the grenade back at him.
