California College sued for anti-Semitic behavior re: Jewish prof's conversation on Israel-Hamas war

A Jewish professor, Karen Fiss, is suing the California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco, alleging that her rights were violated when she was punished for disagreeing with students about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

According to court documents shared with The Algemeiner by the Deborah Project, a legal nonprofit that defends the civil rights of Jewish educators, Fiss's troubles started on October 23, 2023. She engaged in a discussion with members of the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) group who had set up an anti-Zionist/anti-Semitic display. They asked for her support in campaigning for a ceasefire in Gaza.

Fiss looked over their materials, which included a sign with the slogan "From the river to the sea," and asked questions about what it meant and what news sources they were using. This led to a student, offended and 'unsafe,' by Fiss's questioning, removing the sign suggesting the genocide of Israeli Jews, and arguing that reports of Hamas's actions on October 7, 2023, were false.

The situation escalated when one student, Maryiam Alwael, claimed that her understanding of the conflict was superior due to her Kuwaiti background. Fiss responded by asking if Alwael knew about Kuwait's expulsion of Palestinians in 1991. Fiss advocated for a more nuanced view of the conflict, suggesting not all Middle Easterners oppose Israel and many are against Hamas and its supporters like Iran.

Fiss advised the students to avoid echo chambers, but Alwael preferred her own low information views. Although the conversation was civil, the students claimed that she felt attacked and filed a complaint against Fiss, accusing her of harassment and discrimination, because when they jihadis aren't killing you, they are claiming victimhood.

With minimal due process, Fiss was deemed guilty and required to undergo "diversity, equity, and inclusion" training, which as anyone with a working brain knows, is bull pucks. The college's rationale was that Fiss, not the Jew-hating Islamist, was culturally insensitive and used her "power" as a professor to influence students' views.

However, when Fiss had previously complained about a statement from the Critical Ethnic Studies program that seemed to justify Hamas's violence, her concerns were hypocritically dismissed as free speech.

The Deborah Project claims CCA's policies favor left-wing anti-Zionism while punishing Jews who oppose it. They argue that Fiss has been severely discriminated against for not aligning with the college's ideological stance on Israel.

Lori Lowenthal Marcus, legal director of the Deborah Project, pointed out the irony that Fiss's expression of discomfort with support for Hamas's actions was overlooked as free speech, yet her own speech was labeled harassment.

Fiss is now fighting back against what she sees as an attack on her Jewish identity and her right to free speech, suing CCA for discrimination under Titles VI and VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and for breach of contract, claiming these actions have caused her significant harm.

Dept. of Justice ends transgender workplace protections

Washington (AP) -- On Thursday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a memo that federal civil rights law does not protect transgender people from discrimination at work. The memo therefore rescinds guidance issued under the [gay-centric] Obama administration.

The Civil Rights Act of 1964 (that received an overwhelmingly higher Republican vote than Democratic) bars workplace discrimination between men and women but not the mentally ill category known as gender identity

Sessions said in the memo that the Justice Department will take that position in "all pending and future matters." He called the interpretation a "conclusion of law, not policy," and emphasized the move should not be interpreted as condoning mistreatment of transgender people.

"The Justice Department must and will continue to affirm the dignity of all people, including transgender individuals," the memo to federal prosecutors stated.

But LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ rights advocates attacked the reversal as Trump's targeting of these people.

"Today marks another low point for a Department of Justice which has been cruelly consistent in its hostility towards the LGBT community and in particular its inability to treat transgender people with basic dignity and respect [of their delusional beliefs]," said James Esseks, director of the American Civil Rights Union's LGBT & HIV Project.

The Trump administration has raised the possibility of banning transgender individuals from military service. Perhaps they concluded that those who believe they are living in the wrong body within which they were born,  might have other delusions that would make it difficult for normal people to work with them.

The Obama administration guideline which advises schools to allow transgender students to use the bathroom of their choice has also been rescinded. Parents and female students no longer need worry about some dude who says he's a woman enter the girls bathroom.

There is currently no federal law explicitly prohibiting workplace discrimination against the transgender mentally ill. But the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) argued they are protected from workplace bias as a form of sex discrimination covered by the law.

In other words, the EEOC and leftists are the real science deniers.

Be clear, I am not advocating for anyone to harass or harm transgender individuals. What I am saying is that they are mentally ill. This does not include gay individuals, but only those who actually believe they are not the gender their biology proves they are.

So I'm advocating psychotherapy.

Chuck Schumer concerned about Jeff Sessions but not with Hillary Clinton

Incoming U.S. Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer said he is "very concerned" about President-elect Donald Trump's selection of Senator Jeff Sessions as attorney general due to some of his history.

Chuck (aka "Ninja Nostrils") indicated that there would be tough questioning in the confirmation process. Questions that even Hillary Clinton would have never received in spite of her having praised Sen. Robert Byrd, who was a Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan and said some incredibly racists things about black people.

"Given some of his past statements and his staunch opposition to immigration reform, I am very concerned about what he would do with the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice and want to hear what he has to say," Schumer wrote in a statement.

What the Democrats will never tell you is that Lyndon Johnson, in order to pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had to get Republicans to sign on to the bill because his party did not. What they won't tell you is that the KKK has always been composed of Democrats. That Bull Connor and George Wallace were Democrats. And that Democrats, through all their entitlement programs, have been holding back black people for decades.

I'm All Trayvonned Out

I'm getting all Trayvonned out. The black community has followed PMSNBC's influence and has made George Zimmerman into a racist, cold-blooded child killer; it's ridiculous. First of all, there was no evidence that Zimmerman is a racist because if there was even a tiny shred of evidence in his past, if like Paula Deen, he used the "N" word any time in his past, all the way back to the cradle, the prosecution would have used it against him. But they had nothing to use.
