"I am Joe Biden and I'm happy to be here" |
Democrat presidential nominee and barely sentient human being Joe Biden, claimed on Wednesday speaking in Michigan, that 6,114 American military troops have been killed by COVID-19.
He was off by about 6,107. As of this posting, 7 soldiers died of the coronavirus, not thousands.
Beside the fact that Biden's brain would lose a real debate to a bowl of chopped liver, the reason for his mistake was likely due to the fact that he doesn't know his state abbreviations from his elbow.
“Military COVID infected: 118,984,” Biden said while reading off of a note card. “Military COVID deaths: 6,114.”

There have been 40,026 military members infected by the disease that have killed the seven to date.
But a look at the available photos from the Biden event shows his note card stated: "MI COVID Infected: 118,984. MI COVID Deaths: 6814."
Michigan. Biden was speaking in Michigan, abbreviated as "MI."
I don't know if there is an abbreviation for military--wait, let me Google it--not really. There's MILSPEC, for military specification; and there's MILSTAN for military standard; and there's even a MILSTAR for military strategic and tactical relay. But no MI for military and no actual abbreviation for the word alone.
Biden, even though he was speaking in MI or Michigan, was obviously oblivious to the fact that “MI” was an abbreviation for the state.

Biden's campaign later covered for him, much like the mainstream media does, confirming that he did, indeed, not realize it was an abbreviation for a US state, which, as a presidential hopeful, it might behoove him to know.
But at least he didn't claim, as Obama did when he first ran for POTUS, that there are 57 states. And Biden, unlike Obama, may even be able to properly pronounce the military Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) "corpsman" with the silent "s."
