McAllen, Texas mayoral race goes Right--the Left panics

McAllen, TX -- Democrats were unable to get their hands on the voting machines in the mayoral election and Republican candidate Javier Villalobos won by a narrow margin in a South Texas town that's 85% Latino.

Democrats were stunned over the results of a mayoral race in South Texas over the weekend after the town elected a former chairman of a local county-level Republican Party.

“Republicans celebrated Javier Villalobos’ narrow win in the mayor’s race in McAllen, Texas, on Saturday even though the race is technically nonpartisan,” Fox News reported. “Villalobos, an attorney, was appointed to the Prepaid Higher Education Tuition Board by [Texas Republican Governor Greg] Abbott in 2018 and is the former chair of the Hidalgo County GOP.”

Hola amigos, despierta.

So while "Sleepy Joe" refuses to stem the flow of illegal aliens across the U.S. southern border, and co-President Kamala Harris refuses to even go there to pretend to care, Hispanic immigrants who came here legally are rightfully angry and their voting shows it.

“Let me start by thanking the voters, my team, my family & everyone who helped run this campaign,” Republican Mayor-elect Villalobos wrote on Facebook. “Thank you McAllen for trusting & believing in me. I promise to not let you down.”

Fellow Republican Gov. Greg Abbott congratulated Villalobos on Twitter, writing: “Javier Villalobos is a proven leader who cares deeply about the people of the Rio Grande Valley. Congratulations on becoming the next Mayor of McAllen!”

“Republicans and Hispanics in Texas share common values, and more Hispanics are voting Republican and getting elected as Republicans,” Abbott later added. “They want to help keep Texas Red.”

Villalobos, who is currently a McAllen City Commissioner, beat his Democratic opponent Veronica Whitacre by several hundred votes in the election.

Hidalgo County, which is home to McAllen, voted for the execrable Hillary Clinton by more than 40 points in 2016 and went to Joe Biden by 17 points in 2020.

“Amazing news! McAllen, Texas is a major border town of 140,000 people. 85% Hispanic — and just elected a Republican mayor,” former Trump campaign spokesman Steve Cortes wrote on Twitter. ‘The macro realignment accelerates in South Texas, and elsewhere, as Hispanics rally to America First: Strong Borders, Economic Nationalism, Pro-Police.”

“Big mayoral wins in Texas last night! In McAllen, we FLIPPED the Mayoral seat to Republican, while in Ft Worth our turnout efforts ensured that a Republican won over a Texas Democrat,” RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel tweeted. “Both rightly rejected Biden and Harris’ failed policies and voted for the GOP. Whether rejecting a crisis at the border or a squandered economic recovery, these municipalities moved decidedly toward the GOP, because our policies work.”

Meanwhile, Democrats are having a cow.

Sawyer Hackett, Executive Director of Julian Castro’s socialist-leaning People First Future, tweeted: “A GOP county chair just won a race for mayor of McAllen, Texas, a city that’s 85% Latino. Hillary won the county by 40 points. If the Democratic Party doesn’t get serious about Latino outreach, we’re in big trouble.”

For Democrats, "Latino outreach" amounts to taxpayer-funded giveaways and calling all Republicans white supremacists.

Democrat Jon Mark Hogg tweeted: “So Republicans won the McAllen and Fort Worth Mayors races. Someone tell me again how we should stick with our current progressive message and strategy in Texas and not try to appeal to conservative/moderate voters.”

RNC Deputy Communications Director Nathan Brand celebrated the victory, writing on Twitter: “BIG win for Republicans tonight in a border community. Biden’s border crisis has real world ramifications for communities across the country, especially in cities like McAllen.”

Hopefully, the Democrats will keep doing what they've been doing because the voters are beginning to see through their failed policies and false accusations.

McAllen, Texas -- Two police officers Edelmiro Gara, 45, and Ismael Chavez, 39, were ambushed while responding to a domestic disturbance complaint Saturday.

The gunman, whose name will not be used here, later killed himself after engaging in a shootout with other responding officers, The Monitor of McAllen, Texas, reported.

“We have lost two brave public servants who sought only to keep peace in our City,” McAllen police Chief Victor Rodriguez said via text message Saturday, according to the newspaper.

Gov. Gregg Abbott addressed the incident on Twitter Saturday night.

"Two of our finest were killed in the line of duty while working to protect residents in their community," Abbott posted. "I've spoken with McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez and offered the full support of the State of Texas. We unite to #BackTheBlue."

The suspect was a 23-year-old Hispanic man who was most recently arrested last month on assault charges, as reported by The Monitor.

Lt. Christopher Olivarez, a spokesman for the state Department of Public Safety, said the two officers were transported to an area hospital after the shooting.

The Texas Attorney General's office addressed the killings on Twitter and offered prayers and assistance to the people and police officers of McAllen.

"Our prayers and full support are with the valiant men and women of the #CityofMcAllen PD this evening," the message read. "This office will provide any assistance requested in the days ahead. We are grateful for police in McAllen and around this great state."

The city's government Facebook page had a message of condolence for Garza and Chavez's fellow officers and their families.

"Today, two McAllen Police officers were killed in the line of duty," the post stated. "The City of McAllen extends its deepest condolences to the McAllen Police Department and to the families of Officer Edelmiro Garza and Officer Ismael Chavez. Our City is hurting and our hearts and prayers go out to them during this difficult time."
