Hamas Leader Reportedly Discovers That Running Gaza Comes With a Very Short Warranty

Israeli attack helicopters and tanks reportedly targeted Hamas's Gaza leader, Ali al-Amoudi, Saturday morning, giving the terrorist organization's latest chief an unexpected reminder that Hamasshole leadership remains a position with unusually high employee turnover.

The military operation began around 08:00  after Israeli forces engaged suspicious targets approaching the designated "Yellow Line." Reports later indicated that al-Amoudi himself was the main target, with the Hamasshole leader believed to be inside the apartment complex hit by Israeli forces.

Security sources cited by Kan News said the likelihood of al-Amoudi surviving was "very small," which is generally not the sort of performance review anyone hopes to receive from the Israeli military.

Al-Amoudi had previously spent nearly 20 years in an Israeli prison before being released in the 2011 Gilad Schalit prisoner exchange. During that time, he reportedly developed a close relationship with Yahya Sinwar, eventually becoming head of Sinwar's office and joining Hamas's political bureau.

Apparently demonstrating an impressive ability to turn prison experience into career advancement, al-Amoudi eventually became responsible for Hamas's propaganda operation. During the war, he directed Palestinian propaganda campaigns that found considerable support in Western countries, proving once again that Hamas could apparently find an audience for its messaging even while running a terrorist organization from Gaza.

After Sinwar was killed in October 2024, Hamas began the familiar process of finding someone else willing to take over a terrorist organization whose senior leadership was being systematically eliminated.

Al-Amoudi gradually emerged as the group's authority in Gaza while keeping a relatively low public profile. He officially assumed the leadership position in July.

His tenure may now be considerably shorter than expected, assuming reports of Saturday's strike are accurate.
