Brace Yourself: Israel May Actually Arrest People Suspected of Helping a Terrorist. What a concept.
The Jewish state is apparently about to do something so shocking that it may cause another international diplomatic emergency: the Israeli military is preparing to arrest people suspected of assisting a terrorist. How dare they!
The operation is reportedly being planned in the Palestinian village of Biddu, near Ramallah, following Sunday's terrorist shooting near Neveh Tzuf in which Israeli father Netanel Shukrun was murdered in front of his son.
The suspected terrorist was subsequently captured by Israeli forces.
Naturally, this means the IDF can probably expect the usual international chorus of concern, outrage and demands that Israel exercise restraint while everyone takes a moment to carefully consider the feelings of the people who may have helped a terrorist. Has been singer, Macklemore, had no comment, by the way.
According to the Jerusalem Post, the IDF is preparing to arrest suspects in Biddu and map the terrorist's home for demolition. The operation could extend elsewhere in the West Bank, with dozens of suspects reportedly expected to be arrested.
This is the sort of thing that tends to produce fascinating headlines. A terrorist shoots an Israeli civilian, the terrorist is captured, and then Israel investigates whether anyone helped him, while ignorant college students and other miscreants shout "free Palestine."
Somehow, the investigation into who helped the terrorist becomes the controversial part.
The attack occurred near a spring where Israelis had gone ahead of Yom Kippur. Shukrun, a father of six, was critically wounded and later died at a hospital. The cowardly jihadi reportedly opened fire from a vehicle before fleeing on foot.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the scene and described the attack as a “severe terrorist attack,” adding that the IDF “acted quickly” to apprehend the terrorist.
“Our mission is not over,” said Zamir. “We will impose a closure on the village and conduct investigations, through which we will reach everyone who assisted the terrorist.”
There you have it.
Israel's radical new security doctrine appears to be: If you help the guy who shoots Israelis, investigators might want to have a conversation with you.
The terrorist was reportedly identified by Army Radio as a 37-year-old Hamasshole operative. Security officials cited by Army Radio said he was believed to have acted alone in both the attack and his attempted escape. Hamassholes praised the attack without directly claiming responsibility, calling it a “blessed and heroic operation” and a “legitimate and natural response.” Yes, this so called religion blesses the murder of Jews and others who don't believe the same nonsense as they believe.
This is certainly one way to describe shooting an Israeli father, as a 'blessed and heroic operation.' If it was heroic to shoot an unarmed man, was it equally heroic to choke the Bibas babies and kill their mother after the October 7 massacre?
The rest of the civilized world might call it terrorism. Hamas apparently has a different communications department. It's sickening and needs to be dealt with by all sane individuals.
Meanwhile, the IDF is preparing to conduct arrests and investigations, which will presumably come as a tremendous surprise to anyone who has spent the last several decades observing what happens when Israel is attacked.
