The war between Israel, Hamas, the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist groups, is not a boxing match. When one fighter is winning, the round ends and the challenger gets a breather. In this case, Israel is winning and Hamas wants a breather because they are getting their collective butts kicked by the IDF.
Last time Israel agreed to a ceasefire, Hamas regrouped, rearmed and fired at Israel causing the United Nations to become upset that the Jewish State fought back and claimed that they broke the ceasefire.
Perhaps it's due to the fact that Caroline Glick has become an advisor to Netanyahu that Israel is going all out against their enemies, but this is exactly the case.
Bibi says Hamas has rejected all proposals for more hostage releases and he slams his anti-Zionist/anti-Semitic critics for suggesting he initiated the fighting for his political gain. See, when Jews get killed, they get sympathy; when they fight back and win, they get condemned for fighting back. The world loves dead Jews.

Hamas knows all too well that if they return the hostages they kidnapped on October 7, 2023, the IDF will destroy them.
Israel knows Hamas will never return all the hostages they're holding because that's the only trump card they hold. Israel also knows that any Hamas prisoners they release, will return to the fighting and kill more Jews.
