Liz Cheney gets her butt handed to her by Elon over USAID

This week, DOGE, led by Elon Musk, turned its attention to USAID, stirring up significant controversy among Democrats by uncovering what they claim to be inefficiencies and misconduct. The Democratic reaction has been intense enough that even former Rep. Tim Ryan (R-OH) criticized Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer's handling of the situation. A panel from the Comedy News Network (CNN) couldn't help but laugh at what they perceived as an ineffective Democratic protest.

In the midst of this political storm, Mike Benz, Director of the Foundation for Freedom Online and a former State Department official, linked USAID to former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY), noting her past employment with the agency. Musk found this connection "interesting."

Cheney responded to Musk's interest with a tweet that many found off-topic:

Damn right, @Elon. I’m proud of what America did to win the Cold War, defeat Soviet communism, and defend democracy. Our nation stood for freedom. You may be unfamiliar with that part of our history since you weren’t yet an American citizen.

 
Her response, which seemed unrelated to the current discussion about USAID, was mocked for its irrelevance and for incorrectly tagging Musk's account name. Social media users on X had a field day with her error:

There was also mention of a pardon Cheney reportedly received from Joe Biden, though she did not address these comments. Her remarks about Musk's citizenship and his familiarity with American history drew further criticism, with some viewing it as an attack on immigrants.

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) expressed his disapproval of Cheney's comments by posting:

“I was a citizen before you were”
Not cool

If there is one thing Republicans and conservatives in general can agree on is that Liz Cheney is as cool as the sun.
