Snobs are not usually aware of how obnoxious they are to others and former comedian Stephen Colbert definitely falls into that repugnant category.
In his CBS "Late Show" monologue Monday, explained to his low information audience that “[S]ince the invasion [of Ukraine by Russia], oil prices have skyrocketed.”
“Today, the average gas price in America hit an all-time record high of over $4 per gallon. Okay, that stings, but a clear conscience is worth a buck or two,” said Colbert, who rakes in a cool $15 million per year with CBS and a "buck or two" is of no consequence to him.
But rather than commiserating with the audience, he pompously joked, “I’m willing to pay. I’m willing to pay $4 a gallon. Hell, I’ll pay $15 a gallon because I drive a Tesla.”
The former comedian then attempted to tell a joke about the US refusing to buy Russian oil and instead turning to another source.
“Take that, Putin! We’re not gonna buy our gas from a war criminal,” Colbert said. “We’re gonna buy it from the good guys, Saudi Arabia!”
Colbert is the oblivious guy you see at funerals in jeans telling crappy jokes and asking women to dance.

“‘I don’t mind paying $15 a gallon, cause I drive a Tesla’ is a joke that falls short and can only be appreciated by the upper class--especially the a-holes who made their money via capitalism but shun it because 'socialism is cool'. Colbert and his ilk are totally disconnected to those of us who must drive to work each day in our vehicles that cost a lot less than the $75,000 Tesla he drives.
Colbert used to be funny.
