Ex-VA Tech soccer player benched for not kneeling, allowed to go forward with her lawsuit

The two most difficult thing in sports is to score a goal in soccer, and the second is for Americans to watch a soccer match.

Kiersten Hening, a former Virginia Tech women's soccer player has sued her former coach after he allegedly benched and pressured her for refusing to get on her knees during a pregame oxymoronic social justice demonstration. A judge has ruled that she can go forward with her lawsuit.

Ms. Hening, who was a midfielder/defender for the Hokies from 2018 to 2020, sued coach Charles "Chugger" Aidair in 2021 on First Amendment grounds, which federal Judge Thomas Cullen announced on Dec. 2 can proceed to trial [because he violated her First Amendment rights if this really happened].

Hening alleged that Adair was not a fan of her conservative political views as did many of her teammates, especially on one-way social justice issues during the zenith of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020.

Hening further explained in the lawsuit that while she "supports social justice and believes that black lives matter," she "does not support BLM the organization," citing its "tactics and core tenets of its mission statement, including defunding the police."

After Hening declined to kneel during a reading of a "unity statement" before a game against UVA on Sept. 12, 2020, she said Adair "verbally attacked her" at halftime, claiming she was "bitching and moaning" while jabbing a finger in her face.

Actually, it was Adair doing all the bitching and moaning, it seems.

Adair continued to berate Hening until he benched her and ultimately made things so intolerable that she felt compelled to quit the team, according to the suit.

"Hening, who had been a major on-field contributor for two years prior to the 2020 season, also asserts that Adair removed her from the starting lineup for the next two games and drastically reduced her playing time in those games because she had engaged in this protected First Amendment activity. As a result, Hening resigned from the team after the third game of the season," Cullen noted in his recent ruling.

Hening's time on the field dropped off following the incident, the judge noted.

"As a freshman, Hening averaged 76 minutes of playing time; as a sophomore, nearly 88," Cullen wrote. "But during the Clemson game [the next game after the kneeling incident], Hening only played 29 minutes, and, at the UNC game, just 5."

Adair, a card-carrying a-hole, argued that two other players who declined to kneel did not face reduced playing time, moved to dismiss the lawsuit, which was denied.

"Ultimately, Adair may convince a jury that this coaching decision was based solely on Hening’s poor play during the UVA game, but the court, viewing the evidence in the light most favorable to Hening, cannot reach that conclusion as a matter of law," ruled Cullen, who said the issues in the case are fundamental.

"While the U.S. Supreme Court and the Fourth Circuit may not have addressed the novel factual circumstances presented here—i.e., a college coach allegedly retaliating against a player for refusing to kneel with her coaches and teammates in support of perceived unity and social justice—the core constitutional principle is both clearly established and fundamental to a free society, and especially to an institution of higher education," Cullen wrote.

Adair is hoping that one day his women's team can compete against an all-transgender woman's team and get woke points and possibly risk a few serious injuries to his woke girls.

UVA manhunt for ex-football player shooting suspect underway

A manhunt is currently underway on and nearby the University of Virginia grounds Monday morning for a student and former college footballer in the shooting on the Charlottesville campus Sunday night. Three people are dead and two are wounded.

The shooter, Christopher Darnell Jones, Jr., was on the school's football team in 2018 but never played a game. He is described by police as a black male wearing a burgundy jacket or hoodie, jeans and red shoes. Really--red shoes. He might be driving a black SUV with Virginia tag TWX3580.

In a message to the community Monday morning, UVA President Jim Ryan confirmed that Jones is a student.

"As of writing this, I am heartbroken to report the shooting has resulted in three fatalities; two additional victims were injured and are receiving medical care," Ryan wrote. "Our University Police Department has joined forces with other law enforcement agencies to apprehend the suspect, and we will keep our community apprised for developments as the situation evolves."

Classes were canceled on Monday, and students and faculty were instructed to remain sheltered in place.

Little is known about Jones and his unremarkable career as a football linebacker who never was put in to play at the college level. And rather than going into what is known about him, he doesn't deserve any notoriety; the only reason to print his name and photo is for identification purposes, not to make him famous so that others might follow in his evil footsteps.

What is known about him according to his family is that he tended to get into fights in high school that led to suspensions. Family and others tried to get him to focus on his studies and curb his anger. "If it wasn't for these people in my life, I would've been just another kid whose dad left him," Jones reportedly said.

Multiple agencies, including Virginia State Police helicopter, are actively searching for Jones.

The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Culbreth parking garage, prompting a campus alert warning the school community of an active attacker firearm reported and to "RUN. HIDE. FIGHT."

Ryan confirmed the shooting happened school grounds.
